Not sure if someone has already done this but just wanted to put this out there. They are planning on removing the Waterfall from the polynesian lobby with the new renovation. An article was placed in the Orlando Sentinel paper. I know many times other factors play into these things but maybe this was one of those things people didn't really think about before they announced it. Let Disney know what you think.

This will be a great loss. One Disney (and I) will regret. Please don't do it Disney.

While I do like the waterfall, I am sure that the new lobby will still be beautiful. I think removing it will do a lot to open the space up and make it more accessible. Anybody who has tried to go to 'Ohana, Kona or the monorail during the evening knows how crazy crowded that lobby can get. Hopefully the redesign will help with this.

I agree, I have seen the artist renderings of the new lobby and it looks beautiful. For me, when I have entered the Poly recently it smells kind of musty, like the waterfall is having issues/leaking or something. I realize that I may very well be in the minority, but I trust Disney to make it beautiful and think this could be a good thing.

Waterfall is nice, but after hearing how often it is not working, I am glad Disney is thinking about how much it costs them and how much it would cost owners in MFs. Not to mention how many owners would be upset if they were paying for a waterfall that often has problems.

I agree, Disney wouldn't mess up on the lobby of one of their most expensive resorts. They'll make it nice.

I do have an issue with that tiki statue though:

Does he look stoned to anyone else? Haha. I think I'd have preferred to see a glass sheet with the Polynesian Village name engraved on and water flowing down it it as the waterfall replacement.

I have never seen anyone stoned with eyes that wide open. Hahaha!

I may be in the minority but I think the waterfall needed to go. The whole lobby looked dated and congested. I love the Poly and I think the changes will be fantastic. Cleaner, brighter, less humid and less smelly!

hopefully, the renovations are more inspired than the drawing depicts (which, imho, looks like a Hawaiian-themed hilton/marriot/etc - generic "pretty", lacking whimsy and inspiration).

and aside from looking a bit "off" and being perfect for a game of ring toss;), i just don't think that tiki god centerpiece has nearly the visual impact as the waterfall.

btw, those paper people are incredibly creepy
