The Pirates and the Frog (7/17 Welcome to the Next Adventure!)

Great updates and pictures! I always wondered how that space race game works. Never played it myself, but I would probably be the one to drop all the pieces. :rotfl:

I have to tell you that I am so enjoying reading about your daughter in Caitlin and Dawns' TR. Can I hire her as tour guide for my next trip?

It is pretty funny.
I'm enjoying reading it too since when they got home I barely got any of the stories myself.
I'm even letting the princess read and making her tell me the stories she told Caitlin.
I'm so proud of my little tour guide - who knew she was listening to all my Disney babble? :confused3

I'll have to let her start planning the future trips with me!

Safely back on Earth, we headed back toward the World Showcase Lagoon.
Luckily a boat was coming in so we scrambled aboard and were off!
We arrived on the shores of Germany shortly thereafter and wandered into the magnificent courtyard.
In the back of the courtyard, we found our destination.
Guten Tag! Willkommen in Biergarten!
Disney2009Pirates1261.jpg

We checked in at the desk for our 1:00 ADR. This was important as I knew the entertainment was to start about 1:15.
Disney2009Pirates1260.jpg

There are some benches off to the side where you can wait until your buzzer goes off.
So we wandered the countryside…
Disney2009Pirates1264.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1262.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1265.jpg

Ours mouths began to water as we discovered the menu.
And boy were we lucky – we arrived just in time for Oktoberfest!
Disney2009Pirates1266.jpg

Our buzzer went off and we were finally invited in.
We entered the great hall but, to our surprise, we were suddenly outside once again…
In another courtyard…
And it was nighttime…
Disney2009Pirates1280.jpg

Our Princess dubbed this the “Dwarf’s Houses” or “Dwarf Village” because it reminded her of the Seven Dwarves house from Snow White.
In no time, we arrived at our table and settled in.
Each of the kids had coloring books to occupy them:

Disney2009Pirates1271.jpg

Everyone loves this restaurant and it’s one of the “must-do’s” on every one of our trips.
We especially like it for lunch as it is less crowded and makes for a great meal to last you all day.
Disney2009Pirates1272.jpg

Right after we settled in with our first courses from the scrumptious buffet, Oktoberfest Musikanten took the stage.
Disney2009Pirates1286.jpg

After some introductions, they wheeled out two sets of hand bells and were off!
Dueling bells! Such fun!
They two players would cross back and forth trading places and even “steal” bells from the other’s table.
It’s a blast!
Disney2009Pirates1273.jpg

The glockenspiel was next and boy could that guy play!
Disney2009Pirates1275.jpg

Everyone was having a ball!
Disney2009Pirates1277a.jpg

And then, the piece de resistance!
The “Ricola Horn” (or at least we call it that as it reminds us of those awful commercials for the Ricola cough drops).
Disney2009Pirates1283.jpg

Then the fun stuff!
Mom and I split a Riesling wine flight!
You can barely read it at the top of the menu.
Disney2009Pirates1314.jpg

This is sad to remember as the last time we went, these were no longer offered which is a great error on the part of Disney.
Disney2009Pirates1288.jpg

We tried some sips of the 1st glass.
Our waitress told us to go from driest to sweetest.
And she pointed out which was which.
The 1st glass was deliciously sweet and fruity.
Wait, they get better than this?!?!?!?
Disney2009Pirates1290.jpg

Meanwhile, X was chowing down on the pretzel bread.
Disney2009Pirates1289.jpg

And I took the kids for some grub.
Check out some of your choices:
Disney2009Pirates1291.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1292.jpg

The kids downed the macaroni and cheese while I had a little of everything.
The sausages here are awesome as are the meatballs and everything else you try.
Mom had pasta salads, potato salads, spaetzle, and fish.
The kids finished fast and then went right for dessert.
Disney2009Pirates1293.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1294.jpg

Then it was time to hit the dance floor!
The princess and I have a tradition of dancing everytime we come.
However, X wanted to join us this time around!

Disney2009Pirates1296a.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1300.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1302a.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1302d.jpg

But Daddy still wanted once dance with his princess by ourselves…
Disney2009Pirates1306b1.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1306c1.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1307.jpg

And, of course, if we were dancing, you must have realized that Oktoberfest Musikanten was back.
We always make sure we stay for 2 shows as they are always different.
After the dancing music, two “Ricola Horns” appeared.
Disney2009Pirates1309.jpg

And, by now, our flight had flown away…
It was sooooo good.
Disney2009Pirates1310.jpg

Some dessert to whet your appetites…
Disney2009Pirates1312.jpg

And some detail shots of the restaurant itself…
Disney2009Pirates1319.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1322.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1324.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1325.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1326.jpg

Alas, we stuffed ourselves as much as we could.
We rolled out of the restaurant and looked around.
Snow White was not currently greeting and a boat was headed to the dock.
So we skipped the miniature trains and headed straight for the Friendship Boat.
With a heavy heart, we bid Germany “auf wiedersehen” - what a way to relax a bit in the middle of the day!
But we were off again.
It was time to for our secret Meet ‘n’ Greet!
Stay tuned…

Nice update! We've eaten there our last 2 visits and enjoyed it too.

How fun that little X joined you on the dance floor and then you and the little princess got your own dance in. I love how she's twirling on the dance floor :cutie:

It's definitely our tradition.
On our first visit (for her 4th birthday a couple of years ago), she grabbed my hand and pulled me on stage.
How can a Dad say "no" to that? :confused3
Ever since then, it's assumed that the princess princess: will dance at least one dance with dear old Dad.
Hopefully when she's Caitlin's age, she won't forget our tradition.

Sorry gang.
Looks like I used too many pics.
My bandwidth is exceeded again until after Memorial Day Weekend.
It should be back on the 2nd and I have some posts ready to go when it is!
Have a great weekend!

Oh how I wish I could see all your fab pictures. I feel like I am at work (with the restricted computer). No worries. I shall return. I am sure all the Capells are having an awesome time at lunch. That IS actually a great lunch idea.

Sorry about the pics - they should be back on Thursday - complete with another posting!
But we love to just relax at Biergarten.
Like I said, it's our "downtime" for the day and we usually stay for 2 shows and linger to regroup after running all morning.

And we're back!
Photobucket has granted another month of bandwidth!
So let's get back to the report!!

When last we left you, we were finishing stuffing our faces with German food and dancing the afternoon away.
How does one top that?
Why, we hopped a Friendship Boat Back to the Future(world), of course!
Disney2009Pirates1327.jpg

X loves the boats.
In fact, he loves all Disney Transportation.
Disney2009Pirates1329.jpg

Welcome to Friendship Landing
Disney2009Pirates1328.jpg

And then it was back to Fountain of Nations Plaza.
It embarrasses me to say but this is back in 2009 so you can see the old Food and Wine decorations.
Disney2009Pirates1331.jpg

Anyone know what else you can find in these parts?
Why, Photopass Photographers of course!
Disney2009PiratesPass955.jpg

And our favorite “Magic Shot” – Soarin’ with Mickey and the gang!
Since that’s where we were headed next, we were really excited!
Disney2009PiratesPass969.jpg

Then it was on to our “secret” meet and greet.
For those who have Disney VISA cards – there are 2 major perks we’ve found.
First, we save up all our points and then apply them to our room balance at the resort.
Second, it’s this meet and greet tucked away in Innoventions and only available to cardholders.
You also get a free 5x7 of the best shot.
And it’s one of the only places I know of where you can get multiple characters at once!

We arrived and there was no wait!
But, since we are the Capells, we had to be properly dressed.
Mom and DD explained the situation and the CM took them to a little closet off the side.
Yes, they changed in a closet.
But they got back quick and we were led right in.
And it was a good thing they changed into their Minnie Mouse outfits since behind the curtain was none other than Mrs. Mouse herself!
Disney2009Pirates1333.jpg

Joining her was the Goof!
Disney2009Pirates1335.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1336.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1337.jpg

I was even able to get one of just the characters.
Disney2009Pirates1338.jpg

Before I made way for the Photopass Photographers…
Disney2009PiratesPass974.jpg

Disney2009PiratesPass976.jpg

Disney2009PiratesPass990.jpg

Disney2009PiratesPass995.jpg

By now, as with our family tradition, X had fallen asleep.
He actually passed out on the Friendship Boat.
It’s really funny – we’ve been to this meet and greet many times and each time, X is asleep.
So each time we take the sleeping baby pics…
Disney2009PiratesPass1012.jpg

It was about 3:15 after we finished up at the Disney VISA Meet and Greet.
And we had fastpasses burning a hole in our pockets so it was off to the Land!
We quickly grabbed a Rider Swap pass and were cleared for take-off!
Disney2009Pirates1341.jpg

Apparently the princess couldn’t wait to get inside and starting flying while we waited…
Disney2009Pirates1342.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1343.jpg

And then the monitor began the pre-show
Disney2009Pirates1344.jpg

Finally, we headed in.
Capells Ready For Take-off!
Disney2009Pirates1345.jpg

Disney2009Pirates1346.jpg

Too quickly, the ride ended and we headed out.
The kids got to circle back on with Mom while X and I hung out.
Disney2009Pirates1347.jpg

Then it was back to the World Showcase.
We still had to Save the World!
Yes, there was one Kim Possible Mission we had yet to try so headed for the United Kingdom to receive our instructions.
Disney2009Pirates1352.jpg

The UK is one of the more interactive missions.
You have to wander the Sportsman’s Shoppe for clues, find a covert operative in Twinnings Tea, and even transport a golf ball from a phone booth.
The golf ball is the fun part – once you acquire it, you must run it through a scanner to analyze it.
Disney2009Pirates1356a.jpg

Throughout your adventures, you may stumble across some interesting artifacts.
Here’s a portrait we found on our way.
Disney2009Pirates1353.jpg

Finally, we made our way through the streets of Britain to a dead-end for the finale.
Our efforts to thwart the villains flooded their nearby headquarters as we watched with delight.
Disney2009Pirates1357a.jpg

Disney Trivia Time – who can remember this effect?
For those of you playing at home, you might recall the old hydrolators from Seabase Alpha.
Ever wonder what became of them?
DING DING DING!
Just consider the UK the new location for Seabase Alpha.
The English Channel will never have the same meaning again!
:goodvibes

But it was getting late and we were again getting hungry.
We had a 5:15 ADR in the Great White North.
Come along, eh?

I love that the girls changed so they would coordinate with Minnie. Very cute :)

The UK Kim Possible mission is my favorite. Glad you enjoyed it!

Mmmm dinner at LeCellier should be great :)

I love that mission, too. It was the first one I ever did so it will always remain my favorite.

Poor X - always falling asleep for the character photo-ops. Definitely a reason to keep going back.

I like UK but the kids were kind of burned out on missions by this point.
I think they have a soft spot for Germany.

Yeah, we keep trying.
Stay tuned for the next TR to see if we succeeded! ;)
