the Pier or John's Pass ...or are they basically the same

trying to plan beach vacation for family age 1-high teens and their parents.... wondering what would be most fun for evening activity

We have done both, if you are meaning the Pier at Clearwater beach. John's pass would have more for teens to do, lots of shopping, restaurants and entertainment. The Pier has some evening entertainment for a couple of hours and tables with items for sale are set up for those hours as well. John's pass it open quite late, interesting to visit. You often see dolphins from the boardwalk. They have short boat tours that are fun as well.

Not sure if you are referring to the Pier in downtown St. Pete or in Clearwater, but I prefer John's Pass over both of them!
