The photographer who makes kids cry...

Yuck!

Too processed looking. They all look like baby tin men and women.

Mikeeee

but they are consistently, urgh....

Definately very strange looking. I think in some of them it almost looks like they are wax sculptures..

UGH! That is just creepy. They don't even look like real children. I do get the occasional crying picture. When working with newborns that tends to happen but I don't think I could stand there and photograph a child who looks upset like some of those children do. The Mommy in me would want to comfort the child, not photograph them.

Now a pout on the other hand can be very cute.

I couldn't look through all of them - too upsetting/disturbing... I hate that this thought crossed my mind - but did anyone else think that pedophiles would have a field day with the images of seemingly naked children crying their eyes out? :confused3

Ick! They look to me like spoofs of some of Nancy Noel's paintings (http://www.nanoel.com/Controller?action=category&category=1, if you're not familiar with her work). And prints start at $4500? Who on earth would buy those?

ETA: I like this quote from the Slate piece:
This is the sort of art that makes one groan and roll one's eyes. It's political in the worst way: literal-minded, preachy as a bumper sticker, and, well, infantile.

And did you see this:
It turns out that Greenberg doesn't just hang around her studio waiting for one of her toddler subjects to melt down: She induces the tantrum, by, say, giving the child a lollipop, and then suddenly taking it away.
Nice.

I also think the author of that piece needs to lighten up on the photography as exploitation bit. ;)

"The first little boy I shot, Liam, suddenly became hysterically upset. It reminded me of helplessness and anger I feel about our current political and social situation." "As a parent," she continues, "I have to reckon with the knowledge that our children will suffer for the mistakes our government is making. Their pain is a precursor of what is to come."

Ohh brother. :sad2: I stopped reading there.

Definitely not my "cup of tea" and I will leave it at that.

The author of that article is a moron.

Those photos are the worst, most disturbing, crappiest photos I've ever seen. The photographer is also, aparently, a moron.

Morons to the left of me, morons to the right of me... and up ahead, a Brazillian tour group smoking in non-designated areas trampling people to cut in an attraction line.

Not me. You guys can come to my house just before nap time and see it for free.

:lmao:

No thanks--got my own! Actually, this so-called artist could save herself the trouble of having to take away her subjects' lollipops to make them cry if she'd simply photograph siblings and wait for them to start fighting.

uh uh, that requires patience and anticipation. [sarcasm] no self respecting photographer would do that [/sarcasm]

Naahhh, not much patience required--I got exactly three shots before they knocked each other down, and in one of those the big one is giving the little one a noogie. ;)

:rotfl: It doesn't take long at our house either. Just sit them next to each other and the "he/she's touching me!" cries begin.
