The Phillies won the world series & I'm taking my nieces to WDW! *update 9/2*

I've been feeling sorta down the past couple days... There have been some work issues (the good being that I'm so busy time passes quickly; the bad being I find it... challenging... to supervise others and I keep getting paranoid that I am doing a crap job, even though I'm not) But it's also hit me that I've been having such an awesome time planning anticipating the trip... especially all of the things I've done for the nieces (from finding opportunities to be creative to dropping into every Dollar Store I pass to check if there are any cute things for the gift bags I am making)... and pretty soon I won't have that in my life. Silly, eh?

Anyway, today I got a fab new haircut. Splurged on highlights, too. Yay! Pampering oneself does wonders for one's mood so...

Single digit dance time!!!! 8 more days! 5 more work days! (and the Phillies have won 4 straight!) party:

I am planning to see the girls tomorrow, probably for the last time before we are on our way. :cool1:

:( Me too. Except at least you're not taking yours out on anyone (hopefully!)

Just remember - take lots of photos, and save EVERYTHING to scrapbook. That way, you'll spend months drawing out your vacation memories by scrapbooking, and have it to look back on year after year after year.

And remember - you were getting that crazy idea earlier.... maybe it will work out.

And.. I forgot to say... you can't have pre-vacation depression for much longer.. because..... there are only 5 more days!!!!!!!!!

It's stupid, but part of me is just wishing someone would do something special for me for once...

(This was sorta prompted by hearing that someone wants to do something to surprise J while we're there... and that this person didn't even ask me about it directly, he asked the girls' mom... ok, so I have this idea and work really hard to bring it to reality and you want to piggyback onto it without even giving me a "hey, you're doing this awesome thing and it gave me the idea that I want to add some extra Disney magic... blah blah blah"? Fine, whatever...) So I guess somehow I'm a little jealous that I never had an Aunt BelleBway to do magical stuff for me- which is completely stupid. :lmao:

There's also nothing I can do now to get ready- packed all I can for now over the wknd, don't want to print out the guidebooks just yet though they're sorta finished (unless Disney changes the hrs again). And work's been stressful.

I just want it to be Friday at 6pm so I will be FREE!

:rolleyes1 I'm sort of doing the same thing this other person is doing.. except at least I asked you... and my surprise is just a card... sorry though... I am piggybacking as well. :sad2:

But hey - who knows what surprises lay around the corner for you? ;)

:rolleyes1 I'm sort of doing the same thing this other person is doing.. except at least I asked you... and my surprise is just a card... sorry though... I am piggybacking as well. :sad2:

Oh no- what you're doing is totally different and totally sweet :lmao: :cool1: I mean, you're going to be in the same place and all. I mean, we're both going to a party! And all is fair in celebrating at a party! party:

Also I'll feel kinda bad if all of my plans get upstaged by whatever uncle J decides to do... :rolleyes1 (and I still have no idea what he has planned- am assuming a delivery of some kind?)

Eep, he won't tell you at all? That's not cool... I completely understand your annoyance then.

Just remember - when they look back on the trip, they're going to remember being with you and having a blast with everything you have planned for them, not what the other person did. :thumbsup2

All he did was ask their mom what hotel they are staying at b/c he wants to surprise J. If she (their mom) hadn't asked me to confirm the name of the hotel, I wouldn't even know he was planning anything! Their mom got the initial impression that he plans to show up at the hotel (which, eeep, would be very uncool without clearing it with me! :scared1:) but I think he just wants to send something. (which is cool... but I wish he would have contacted me directly; he should have my email address and if not, he could have asked one of several people for it)

I think sometimes people forget that this is my vacation too... Plus, they don't understand all the planning that goes into a WDW vacation (for hard core Disney people like everyone on the Dis).

Yeah, yeah.... Just feeling rather melodramatic and depressed tonite. I blame hormones. :rotfl:

It really is a lot of planning, and darn tootin' (because I can't do asterisks for what I would really say) that it's your vacation too!

I can't imagine what he's planning though...

And have you been watching Lifetime? Or reading Cosmo? That's usually how I feel after I flip through either of those... :lmao:

Did Uncle J even think of M?! I mean all the thought you've put into everything you've done for those girls....how rude of them! I would sit down with mom and talk to her. Because she may be too busy with daily stuff to look at the ramifications it has to YOUR vacation!
Here is some pixie dust for you! :tinker:

I know it may not make you feel better, but I can try '''.things could be worse. I got in a car accident on Saturday, and rolled my new car...have a cut on the bottom of my left foot which I'm hoping to god heals by next Tuesday!! Why can't our vacations come right now?!!

Oops! I didn't even think of M in that case. I have a little something for her too, because I know how it feels if one person gets something and not the other, but if this uncle is doing something big for J, hopefully M gets to share it somehow.

By the way - BelleBway, did you book online? Do you have the 5x7 photopass voucher? Or are you just going to print photos from your own camera? (It works in with my surprise, you can maybe guess it now).

And Smile4Me, I hope you're okay! That's scary...... sending pixie dust for your foot!! :wizard:

Did Uncle J even think of M?!

Yeah, that had occurred to me right away... It was important to me to schedule a princess thing on J's birthday because I know M will love that. And we're getting the birthday Fastpass because we can all enjoy it- and hopefully M will think "hey, it's cool being here on someone's birthday even if it isn't mine" :rotfl:

It would be different if he usually did something special on both girls' birthdays- and he was just going to do something at WDW since that where J will happen to be. I'm hoping that whatever he does can be enjoyed by both of them.

Thanks to you and ZeroToHero!

It's like I'm torn, because I think it's always nice to do special things for people so I don't want to discourage that or put a damper on it. I just wish he'd contacted me about it. (for example, if there is a cake waiting at our hotel room at the end of the day? possibly not the best timing since we're coming from a dessert buffet :lmao:)

I also don't want to put their mom in the middle of anything.

The ironic thing? I found out all this just as I was about to hit the "send" button to send an email to everyone in the family to let them know about the live updates that will be on my website while we are away, in case they want to follow along. (I have a page that reads my twitter feeds, a page where I can upload some of my best pix each day, and a page where I can write stuff)

Oh and also I tend to have serious pre-trip anxieties... ever since the time my dad died suddenly while I was on a birthday vacation to Europe 5.5 yrs ago. (last time I did WDW, 6 yrs ago, was the last family trip with mom and dad...) So that may also explain my mood.

I know I'll be great when Sunday morning comes around! :cool1:

Yikes!!!! Major pixiedust: to you!

(I cut my finger packing razors... fortunately it's better now; thank goodness I didn't wait til the night before I leave to do my packing)

I am using a 40% off room only PIN so I had to book over the phone, and have no such vouchers. I'll be getting the photopass CD if there are enough good pix.

I'll be taking tons of pix with my new-ish DSLR camera, though. :cool1:

(I am hoping our CRT photo comes out well so I can buy a nice Disney frame for the biggest photo and then give it to J&M's mom for her birthday which happens to be the day we come home... although I told her that I'll be giving her the best birthday present ever-- her kids! :rotfl:)

Just keep concentrating on the positive. You're going to have a great time. Just keep positive! I finished packing my clothes last night. It made my boyfriend laugh so much...I am a real finicky packer...how am I gonna know what I want to wear a week from now?!! Plus I don't want to wear the same thing to the same park I did last year ( I have an Ariel shirt that I love, but wore to MK last year). At least one of us is entertained by it ...and the packing got done!

Thanks BelleBway and Zero to Hero...I'm fine and thats whats important, the rest can be fixed. Not only does it make me look more forward to the trip, but even for when I get back because I'm going to start some major scrapbooking while I'm waiting for my car situation to get figured out!

Do you want to know how I packed?

I basically have 6 pairs of comfortable shorts that fit well and don't look awful on me, in addition to the pair I am wearing down, so I laid each of them down on the bed. This was easy, since my options were limited. ;)

Then, on top of each pair, I placed a short sleeve t-shirt that would look cute with them.

Then I went through my tank tops and placed one of those atop each pile.

Finally, I went through my Disney t-shirts (and possibly Phillies t-shirts? can't remember where these counted...) and added one of those to each pile as well.

And I may have added a few random extras for good measure- if I haven't yet, I know I will. :lmao: Plus I would be surprised if I didn't purchase a new T-shirt... or 2... :rolleyes1

At least this gives me some options, and I know I won't be stuck with a top that matches none of my bottoms or some such tragic event. :lmao: And I'll be able to change shirts mid-day if I get too hot and sticky.

I still need to pack socks/underwear (as well as extra shoes, certain toiletries, etc)... but need to do a wash Fri or Sat first.

Ok, I'm new here, but I saw the title and HAD to read the whole thread. Another HUGE Phillies fan, and game #5 of the WS is very special to me, as well. My son was born 10/27 (game 5, part 1), but due to complications on my end I didn't get to meet or hold him until 10/29 (game 5, part 2). In fact, they had just handed my new son to me moments before I saw the final picth that Lidge threw, so it is quite a bittersweet moment. I think it is AWESOME that you're taking your nieces to WDW!

Enjoy your trip, and GO PHILS!

I did something so similar! I started with three sundresses I'm bringing, and then have four pairs of shorts, (not including the outfit I'm wearing down), so then I got out matching tank tops,,and then tshirts-which also happen to be Disney shirts!) And then I packed an extra two or three shirts that matched the pair of shorts I was wearing down and one other pair, just in case!! I know I'm only going 6 days and 5 nights, but I like to change before dinner sometimes if its really hot (especially AK days!). We are lucky to have full laundry in our room,,,so I'm doing all our laundry before we go so no giant stacks of vacation laundry to do when I get home!! I almost always buy a shirt at Epcot. I still may do that, but I really want a zip up hoodie...I feel I'd get a lot of use out of that in the spring fall and winter in WI,,thinking specifically in the office when my boss cranks the AC in the spring and summer!

Thanks for reading! :cool1:

That us soooo sweet about your son. (did you name him for any Phillies players? :lmao:) I hope you are both doing well now!

I still cry even thinking of the last pitch- all my family were Phillies fans, and it makes me remember my grandfather and dad who are no longer with us. My grandfather had season tickets and I spent countless nights going to games with him when I was growing up. We buried him with his Richie Ashburn uniform shirt that we'd bought him for one of his birthdays.

I always bring zip up hoodies to the office, esp in the summer! I have a lot of them already, though, since I also use them for ice skating.

And I also like to change shirts mid-day if it's hot and gross.

What is killing my packing is all the art supplies and paper that I am bringing for the girls. :rotfl: Thankfully we are flying SWA and I can check 2 bags... but I had to buy a new bag since I'd already lent all 3 of my small ones to the nieces! (fortunately I found something workable for $5 at the JC Penney Outlet :cool1:)
