12 May 2001: The Road to Disney World

Trip information: Me?Sandy (38); My Husband?Tim (50), My nephew?Michael (8). This is my second trip (1991 and 1996), Tim?s second trip (1982 and 1991) and Michael?s first trip.

Today is the day that my husband (Tim?50) and nephew (Michael?8) and I (Sandy?38) begin our Disney adventure. The first day of our trip began smoothly, the Town car was on time and we had our favorite driver. We arrived at the airport, checked in, and went to the Red Carpet Lounge for some drinks and a snack.

This is the first time Michael has taken a long flight and he had never even been to SFO. He was so impressed with the little things that this weary traveler takes for granted: the moving walkway, all the planes neatly lined up, and especially the airport lounge.

Our flight left on time at 1:35 and we arrived about 9:45 in Florida. The plane ride was uneventful (that is really the best thing that you can hope for in flying). Our driver from Tiffany Town car met us and in a half hour, we?re at our hotel?the Beach Club.

Concierge was already closed by the time we arrived, so we checked into the front desk and went to our room on the 5th floor. We had everything that we requested: full balcony, great pool and lagoon view, and non-smoking room. The only thing missing was the refrigerator, but we really didn?t need it and cancelled it.

We ordered room service and had a light snack, unpack, and went out on the balcony to enjoy our first night in Florida. We planned to start a little late the next day, so we went to bed about 12:30 a.m. Had a great sleep and dreamed of Disney World.
