The only thing worse than the madness of the grocery store before a holiday...

I went to Walmart last night... they didn't have Cranberries or Sour Cream in stock. I bought dried cranberries and grabbed some sour cream at the gas station.

I then realized on the way home that I forgot to get supplies to make pizzas tonight.

So I just headed out to Kroger on my lunch hour... and was able to find everything I needed (and a gift card to Bass Pro for DH, that I didnt need).

And yes... I am sitting at work today... doing nothing... except getting paid to dis :)

Where do I apply? ;)

Just got back from Publix and it was busy, but not insane. All of the staples still seemed to be available, the only thing I couldn't find was a small apple pie in the bakery. Lots of big pies, no small ones except for mince. It was a much better experience than I had anticipated. Of course DH is going to call and remind me that I forgot something, so I'm sure I'll be running out again tonight. :headache:

I realized last night I didn't have frozen hash browns for my breakfast casserole, I hope I can find some at the store. Otherwise I'll have to grate my own, which I can totally do but I'd rather not. I also realized I forgot some veggies for our salad tonight so I will be grabbing those as well. Luckily I'm off in FIVE minutes so it shouldn't be too bad....right? :)

I ran to GFS this morning to get a few things I forgot (lemons, vanilla extract, and quart containers with lids) and they were pretty crowded for 8:30 this morning. (I used to work there and 8:30 was always dead)

I went past Giant Eagle's parking lot after I left and it was jam packed with cars.

Hope everyone has a happy holiday.

I've been everyday this week except today because I keep forgetting to get something or I think of something new to make or bake and I'm missing an ingredient. I refuse to go today. If I don't have it today, we aren't going to have it. I'm tired of the grocery store!!!

'Tis definitely the season... Yesterday I was so pleased to get a "good" parking spot at the store and got everything I needed. Then as I drove off, I realized that I forgot to get the bag of ice which I had the cashier ring up at the register. (You have to pick it up on the way out) Naturally, I had to park about a mile away and go back in to get the ice. Who ever saw me run in and grab the ice by the door probably thought I stole it! Oh well, glad not to have to go back today!

Merry Christmas!

Amy

Just back. The grocery store was busy but not swamped, and I got what I needed. I was going to go to Target instead, but the parking lot! :scared1:

I was shocked - went to my in law's local grocery store around 1pm today to pick up some food to get me through the next couple days. (My MIL, bless her, is not the best cook. ;))

It was empty!

A few hours ago we realized we had everything we needed for Friday, but we had nothing planned for tonight. We made a run to the store and it was busy, but not a madhouse. Shoppers seemed to be trying to be pleasant and polite too. :):santa:

Today I stopped at the store to get eggs. Come home and start making the cheesecake. Get interrupted. While talking on the phone, hear Grandma tell DD it's ok to add something into the cheesecake batter.

I head back into the kitchen. They poured sour cream into the batter. It doesn't go in the cheesecake. It was supposed to go on top after it's cooked.

So back to the store I go again to get new ingredients to make the cheesecake and have to suffer the grocery store madness all over again. Yippeee.

If they mess this one up, I'm kicking them out of the kitchen and making a cake instead. LOL

My daughter works at a grocery store- I can't wait until she gets home so I can hear how crazy people were.... :lmao:
