The Ongoing Saga of Peggy's Quest for a Dog!

As many of you know, I lost my best buddy, Griffin, back in October. I missed him so much. In an attempt to find a new canine buddy, I adopted Bandit. It didn't work out. Bandit did not like my cats. Bandit is now living on a farm in South Carolina with his new best friends, which makes me very happy. However, that didn't solve my need for a companion.

Well, yesterday, I adopted Merlin and Willow. They are brother and sister, 11 week old black lab puppies. The good news...one of my cats has already seemed to accept them. She isn't nuts about them, but she is okay with them being here. They are pretty indifferent to her. The other cat is still afraid and has yet to get up the courage to meet them. I don't think it will be a problem. So, I have TWO new buddies and Merlin and Willow have a new home. They are very cute! So, in the end everything worked out and, I'm sure that we will all live happily ever after!

So far, they have been very good. Only one accident in the house since they arrived yesterday morning. They didn't even go in their crate over night. Of course, I am taking them outside very half hour, but no messes to clean up. They aren't great on a leash yet, but yesterday was their first time to even have collars. I will be getting up a lot earlier now that they are here. They are early risers, but it is worth it.

Puppies are like babys, and labs are great dogs!

Two-I really admire you! I have a 7 month old Newf puppy who is really a great, very easy puppy. Their temperments are outstanding, but I truly forgot how hard it is to have a puppy in the house.

That is so true. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've said "NO!" in the past two days!

Peggy, I remember when Griffin died and you got Bandit. I don't know how I missed that it didn't work out for you. The pup is adorable. I'm glad all is working out for Bandit in the end, and that you have found two new pups to love. Congratulations on your new family members.

I love labs we have a yellow. he is now 6 years old we think about getting a second one but are so afraid of teh puppy stage again

Your post also reminds me why I am never getting a dog again. I love my Murphy to pieces, but when he crosses the Rainbow Bridge I am done with dogs. My cats are so much fun and act just like dogs, with only a fraction of the work
