The One with the Line Jumpers & the Perfectly Timed Fart -- August 2024 Trip Report

On August 13 Magic kingdom was a 1 and Epcot was a 5 on Touring Plans crowd calendar.
that is nuts! but again I don't feel like the wait times (which I'm pretty sure is how they determine the crowd level, right?) didn't accurately reflect the crowds - like people were there but not riding or waiting in lines, ha!!!! just clogging up the walkways!

I believe that’s how they determine the calendars. By wait times.

We’ve been there on low crowd days when the walkways are suffocating!

I am especially curious how/why MK was so busy for a MNSSHP day... clearly the secret is out, boo!
MK was a 1 on Touring Plans for August 13 and Epcot was a 5. I wonder if part of the reason MK was so busy was because of the opening time. It used to open at 8am on party days, with early entry starting at 7:30, but it seems that the opening time has shifted to 9am/8:30. Perhaps more people are willing to do a 9am rope drop, even though those without party tickets would have 1 hour less to spend in the park?

It’s so funny you say that because (spoiler alert) subsequent MNSSHP days the park opens for EE at 7:30 and it was WORLDS different than this day- so I think you’re absolutely right!!

Speaking of winning, DD5 & Matt win the ride-photo:
That is an amazing ride photo! Good job to them! :)
CM said "oh no actually it's a meal credit". I was flabbergasted!! Two tiny little spring rolls constitutes a meal?!
NO WAY. That can't be right - the CM must have been confused! A meal credit for two tiny rolls?!
I also could feel my scalp (where the part in my hair was) BURNING so I was really was trying to get through the sunny bits of the queue as quickly as possible
oh no! I've been there...it's the worst when you can feel the sun burning your scalp.
We had purchased an ILL (it's going to take me a while to get used to the new verbiage, bear with me)
Meh just call it Fastpass - who can keep up with the new names :D
Deciding NOW, in the middle of this line of 20-somethings trying to elbow their way through the narrow crowd, is the best time to let 'er rip.
HA! Matt's my hero.
Spoiler alert but we never did get to see it, not at any point in the remaining 9 nights!
aw, bummer :( Guess you just have to go back!

It took me several pictures to realize Matt was Prince Eric. Ever the observant one on this Thursday morning. You had a great day though. Although I'm with Matt, the vegetables ARE out to kill us and we should avoid every last one!!! And also - DS is correct - nap time needs to be longer. I'm thinking of crawling under my desk and taking one now (ala George Castanza style) but I feel like 9:50 in the morning might be too soon to do that.

Really enjoying your TR! Your kids are too cute! I feel you on the claustrophobia thing. I get anxious in the middle of large crowds, mostly because I get nervous that if something happens I won't have anywhere to go!

That is crazy it was busy on a party day, I also remember those days being less busy. But it also seems like with each passing year, there is no "off" time to visit WDW anymore. It's just so popular!

Looking forward to reading more of your trip!

we did the obligatory "walk to the gate to make sure it exists, then promptly turn around and leave to get food" song & dance
This made me LOL. We do the same thing!
Suffice it to say our room was already in shambles and we hadn't been in it for more than 20 minutes, something that makes my eye twitch just thinking about
Oooo this makes me twitchy too! It’s a constant battle to keep the room clean with my husband and kids!

You’ve gotten so much done already and it’s only day 2! Loving your TR!

I am laughing throughout your trip report! The perfectly timed fart would embarrass me if it were my husband but it sure made me laugh reading about it! I bet the 20-somethings were farting all over the park, too, and probably didn't even realize it wasn't one of them!

A highlight is hearing about your fight with the Big Mouse regarding the dining plan credits. Impressive!

Your kids are so cute and growing up before our eyes!

Which is when the title of our trip report comes into play... My sweet, gentle, caring husband saw an opportunity, and he was NOT about to let it go by. Deciding NOW, in the middle of this line of 20-somethings trying to elbow their way through the narrow crowd, is the best time to let 'er rip.

:rotfl2:

So let this be a lesson for all the line jumpers out there.... you may want to think twice before you cut in front of Matt. No Regerts.

Photographer, he is not, but he's still pretty great & I think I'll keep him. ;)

Just catching up now, my goodness you had better keep that man, he is a king among kings for that crowd clearing fart! This is now a hack I will put into our family playbook that my husband will happily employ when asked. We will call it the Matt Attack!

NO WAY. That can't be right - the CM must have been confused! A meal credit for two tiny rolls?!
One thing we learned this trip (I mean I think this is standard for all topics, not just DDP credits) is that it varied SO MUCH from CM to CM!! One would say one thing and then 15 seconds later another CM would say the opposite.

HA! Matt's my hero.
LOL- I agree!!!

aw, bummer :( Guess you just have to go back!
Literally Matt & I just said that a couple days ago when I couldn't remember the exact wording in the "end speech" part of HEA "And so our journey comes to an end.... but yours ------" <-- that bit (and yes I could Google/YouTube it, but it's much more fun to go back ;) )

That is crazy it was busy on a party day, I also remember those days being less busy. But it also seems like with each passing year, there is no "off" time to visit WDW anymore. It's just so popular!
I think you are exactly right!! Waah!!

Joining in! Wanted to say that our trips overlapped and we experienced the same thing with guests!
So frustrating!!! Are you doing a TR?! I'd love to follow along!!

I am happy to say I definitely won the fight against the Big Mouse in the end, woot woot!! And thank you on the kids, agree on growing up before our eyes- especially comparing the pictures from our Sept 2022 trip to this one - so much growth in 2 years!

Just catching up now, my goodness you had better keep that man, he is a king among kings for that crowd clearing fart! This is now a hack I will put into our family playbook that my husband will happily employ when asked. We will call it the Matt Attack!
LOL - I LOVE IT. I read your comment to Matt and he busted out laughing (and probably is patting himself on the back - I can feel his ego growing by the minute!)

LIFE UPDATE ---

Sorry for the delay between posts, guys. Matt and I put an offer in on a house last week and happy to say they accepted the offer right away!! We had the inspection this past Monday which came back with several issues (most small, some moderate, a few big). In the meantime between getting the purchase agreement accepted, scheduling the inspection, and the inspection actually happening, we completely prepped our house for putting it on the market: deep cleaning & renting a storage unit to stash items away, having not one but TWO sets of photographers come out, began the virtual staging & the 3D virtual tour, drone photography etc...... But after painful negotiations back and forth based on the results of the inspection, we once again found ourselves dealing with shady, greedy, immoral sellers + real estate agents. I can't remember if I've mentioned this in past TRs but this has been a recurring theme as we've been house-hunting since DS4 was a newborn (literally he only 10 weeks old when we started this journey). So for four years, we've been waiting for our forever home only to get so far and then let down time and time again. The stories I could tell... it's shocking!

I know it's silly because obviously we are EXTREMELY fortunate and I am beyond thankful to be able to provide a roof over my kids heads, but we outgrew our current home a long time ago and it's so darn discouraging dealing with the drama and heartbreak over. and over. and over again for 4 freaking years. Not to mention costly - we spent $730 on this inspection only to have it all be for absolutely nothing.

Anyway, rant over. I had to go MIA to deal with the house stuff (buying/inspecting/selling) BUT I am back (albeit heartbroken) and hope to provide the next installation of this TR tomorrow morning!!! Stay tuned and thank you everyone for your patience!!

I am so sorry. We haven't gone through this yet but I understand out growing your house. We bought our house in 2004 as a starter home. Then the market crashed and we now owed more then it was worth by a lot. So we were stuck. We have now been here for 20 years this November and have an 18 year old son and a 17 year old daughter and 1 bathroom. By the time we were able to move the market flipped and the kids were already in high school. So for now we are just waiting it out and saving money. Elizabeth is a senior so I am guessing in the next few years we will be going through this too. I am not looking forward to it.

So sorry to hear about the housing market and issues. I did see that the fed dropped rates, so maybe that will end up really helping you guys. House shopping and selling SUCKS!
