& then we also attempted to pull the sword from the stone:

We were done with the re-do shoot at 1:20 and immediately went to Casey's for some celebratory corn dog nuggies- which we took 'to go' cause the kids were EXHAUSTED. DD6 actually fell asleep waiting for the bus, so we had to cut DS4 off from eating them all while she snoozed :rotfl:

1730824682827.jpeg

We left the park around 2/2:30 and from the bus I immediately entered a cast compliment for the photographer (Abigail).

DD6 still snoring away!

1730824735662.jpeg

By the time we were back in our room, I got the kids all set up for their naps (we had a system where we reserved the actual murphy bed for sleeping at night (once they had been showered/were all clean) and sweaty, stinky mid-day naps were held on the large sofa- with a sheet over it because ew. While I got the kids set up for their naps, Matt took our first load of laundry for the trip down to the laundry room.

Around 5pm the kids woke up and we decided to head to Disney Springs for dinner, all of us in a much better mood!

1730825101956.jpeg

Unfortunately we had to wait at the bus stop for 30 minutes - oof! When we finally made it on the bus it was absolutely filled- standing room only! We had half the stuff with us that we do on park days but enough stuff (+ the collapsed stroller) that made it for a not-so-fun bus ride ;)

Eventually we made it to Disney Springs and made our way toward mine & Matt's favorite - Polite Pig! It was packed and we had to wait for a family to leave before we could grab their table, I'd never seen it so busy! But it was a Friday night after all.

1730825139574.jpeg

All of us were in such a good mood! We ordered the Slider Trio:

1730825362540.jpeg

1730825375249.jpeg

It was all delicious, as per usual!!

Time stamps on the photos above are 6:20, and after eating we stopped inside the World of Disney (Matt always on the lookout for a new hat) but didn't find anything. While he shopped, I decided to place a mobile order at Amorette's Patisserie for some sweet treats to bring back to the hotel room.

1730825432793.jpeg

Fruit Tart Croissant

Croissant filled with Diplomat Cream topped with Fresh Fruit
$8.25

Éclair

Pistachio, Hazelnut, or Vanilla ***(I think we got vanilla)
$7.50

Goodies in hand, we made our way back to the buses where we made a last minute decision that if the AoA bus wasn't there, we'd take one of the other Skyliner resort buses back and hop on the Skyliner. As we walked through the bus drop off/pick up area, a bus driver spotted the kids and gave them two transportation chips. Cool!! After thanking him and continuing walking, there was another bus driver who I believe had just gotten off duty who we stopped to chat with. Somehow it came about that we were from MN so we talked at length about MN/WI. He was very nice but very chatty!

As we said goodbye, a Riviera bus pulled in so we hopped on that bus where we again chatted with the Bus Driver, and he also gave the kids two transportation chips! Today was clearly a day for bus/bus driver related pixie dust!

We got off the bus at Riviera, marveling at it's beauty. Matt was adamant that our next visit we stay here. Ha!! Keep dreaming, sweet cheeks. Ain't nobody (AKA us) got money for that!! But it was fun walking through the beautiful resort, pretending like we fit in ;)

1730826130975.jpeg

As we moseyed over to the Skyliner, we had the kids get out of the stroller so Matt could collapse it to get on.

...only, it wouldn't collapse. He pulled and yanked, yanked and pulled, shimmied and shammied (I don't think that's a word but it fits in this scenario) until finally a CM appeared apparently out of no where and goes "We've been watching you try, you're fine"

Huh???? He allowed us to just drive the double stroller on to the Skyliner. WHAT. This whole time we thought it wouldn't fit through the doors but it does.

^Matt and I, directed at Disney

They must have called ahead to the workers at the CBR station because as we got off we attempted to quickly let them know why we had it assembled within the Skyliner but they already knew. Whew! When we made the transfer to Art of Animation thankfully it collapsed. Weird! The kids & I were cheering for dad when he finally was successful ;)

1730826179111.jpeg

We made it back to the room a little after 8pm where the kids quickly showered & watched a couple episodes of "Old Mickey's" from the couch while they enjoyed their treats.

1730826267739.jpeg

1730826288456.jpeg

1730826340200.jpeg

The treats were fancy and delish!

The kids were in bed by 8:30 and the adults found Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone on TV so we watched that as we drifted off to sleep by 9pm. We were hitting Hollywood Studios hard the next day and were worn out from our "rest" day, ha!!! :rotfl:

TOTAL STEPS: 23,230 (8.6 miles)

Up Next: Saturday, August 17th: Day 6

Saturday, August 17th: Day 6

We had pre-purchased the LLMP and had the following reserved:

Slinky Dog Dash @ 9:35
Toy Story Mania @ 10:35
Tower of Terror @ 11:35

With the park opening at 8:30 for Early Entry. My alarm was set for 6am and we got to the Skyliner station at 6:40, this day we knew better and started the AoA line ourselves as we were the first ones there. We all shared the tasty croissant from Amorette's the night before, it was sticky & messy but delicious!

1730829139467.jpeg

I'll warn you all in advance I really slacked on pictures AND notes this day, so this will probably be a short installment!

We arrived at Hollywood Studios and made it through security without incident, time stamp on the photo below (which I believe is us waiting for the park to open, so just prior to scanning in at the tapstiles) is 7:57 --

1730829290455.jpeg

The plan was to rope drop Rise of the Resistance again, and my anxiety increased as I realized that our tapstiles were not working the best and we had the worlds slowest people attempting to scan in before us. It's kind of funny to think about - how did you end up so far ahead in this long line of rope droppers but not know how to scan in to the touch points??? Like obviously you know about rope drop.. and not just rope drop, but how imperative it is to get there extra early... but don't know that time is of the essence and/or how to scan in to the park? I don't know, the whole thing is bizarre to me!

Anyway, it didn't end up mattering that we had Slow McSlowpants family in front of us, because shortly after we DID scan in to the park, they had CMs shouting into the masses that RoR is down. It didn't seem to sway a lot of people, and we seemed to be some of the few who shifted gears and headed toward Toy Story Land instead. We decided to hit Toy Story Mania first, time stamps below 8:17 so before EE was even set to open!

1730829526144.jpeg

I was paired with DS4 for this ride!

1730829539593.jpeg

1730829547639.jpeg

And again I am impressed at how well the kids seem to score even without my assistance!

Next we made our way to Alien Swirling Saucers, it being 8:30am by this point.

1730829590900.jpeg

We were on this one at 8:35, so a walk on! I guess everyone decided to wait out Rise??

1730829635384.jpeg

1730829653341.jpeg
1730829680856.jpeg

We were off our second ride of the day only 8 minutes into Early Entry, so we were feeling pretty good about ourselves - especially since we had LLMP to look forward to so would be riding these all again at some point in the day!

After getting off Aliens, we decided to mobile order breakfast at Fairfax Fare. We had quite a few adult QS meal credits left so Matt & I took one for the team and ordered mimosas with our breakfast in order to make it more "worth it" ;) As we approached Fairfax Fare, we noticed however that ToT had a 13 minute standby so we quickly changed gears and made our way there instead, entering the line at 8:50.

1730829832859.jpeg

We were off by 9:00 so another walk on! Huzzah!! We probably should have seen what else we could get on since we were having such good luck but...... we were hungry. That one shared croissant from 2.5 hours ago wasn't cutting it! So we picked up our mobile order at Fairfax instead.

1730829975471.jpeg

1730829991118.jpeg

What I wouldn't give to be doing this exact thing right now!!! Mimosas at Hollywood Studios.... yes please.

We scanned in for our Slinky Dog Dash LL precisely 5 minutes early (so 9:30) and as soon as we were past the second touchpoint I made another LL for Mickey & Mickey's Runaway Railway for 11:35am.

SDD was great, as usual!

1730830102247.jpeg

1730830141592.jpeg

1730830150559.jpeg

After our ride we stopped for a bathroom break & Matt grabbed us some coffees. We moseyed over to Muppets since we had time to kill til our 10:35 Toy Story Mania (for the second time that morning) - time stamp on the photo below is 10:09

1730830274718.jpeg

After Muppets we made our way back to Toy Story Land for our TSM LL. This time I was paired with DD6.

1730830566505.jpeg

1730830603356.jpeg
She did well!! After we got off and compared notes, I was super relieved to have beat Matt by a mere 200 points - but much too close for my liking! You know I can't stand it when he wins (it's only happened once) and I have to hear about it all day ;) After scanning in to TSM I booked another LL for Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run for 7pm. Oof, despite our success early in the day the LLs were already running out! Have I mentioned how much I dislike this new system?

After exiting the ride & grabbing our stroller, I happened to spy the BIGGEST GRASSHOPPER I HAD EVER SEEN. I immediately had to point it out to literally everyone who was nearby- this thing was giant!! I wish the picture did it justice, this thing was probably close to the size of my iPhone!

1730830711795.jpeg

At some point during the morning Mickey's & Minnie's Runaway Railway had gone down and our LL was converted to an "anytime LL". We decided as we exited TSM that we wanted to grab a quick lunch and then go back to the hotel for an afternoon swim. There was an older lady behind us that overheard our plans & told us that she was jealous and that an afternoon swim sounded wonderful. She asked where we were staying and we said Art of Animation, and she told us that if you stick your head under the water at this pool you can hear whale sounds. What?! Sweet!

We mobile ordered lunch at Woody's Lunchbox, this time opting for a lighter option (the turkey sandwich with tomato soup), taking it "to go" out of the hot, busy Toy Story area and into the cool, indoor, seating-aplenty ABC Commissary. Matt & I divided up, me & the kids getting a head start on the soup & sandwich inside ABC Commissary while he went to Backlot Express to get DS4's beloved PB&J sandwich and then over to Baseline to pick us up a beer to share.

1730831155391.jpeg

While in Backlot Express Matt had to once again explain this off-menu situation to the CM where she wasn't sure what to do so called over the manager. Matt says that he (the manager, Richie) ran to the back - assembled DS4's entire lunch with sides & chocolate milk & all - and ran it back to hand it to Matt completely free. WHAT. So we entered a Cast Compliment for both Richie & Samantha at Backlot Express. How amazing!!!!

Around 12:30 we left DHS via Skyliner to go for a swim - our first swim of the trip!

1730831217672.jpeg

1730831224916.jpeg

We left our phones in the room so no pictures of the swimming, BUT I did want to point out that I stuck my head under the water and heard zero whale noises. Can anyone confirm if this is a thing?!?! Or was that lady just pulling a fast one on us?!?

We napped (there is nothing better than a post-sun, post-pool/beach nap while on vacation... amiright?!?) til about 5pm before heading back to DHS via Skyliner again. We first utilized our Anytime LL for MMRR, which was great as always! No pictures only video, which show us in the pre-show area (the kids singing along loudly- sorry nearby guests!) at 5:57.

After MMRR, we watched the Frozen Singalong at 6:45, which was also amazing as usual! Each time we go Matt and I say "those are the best Arendelle Historians we've ever had!" - I guess they're all great!

1730831473449.jpeg

Around 7pm we made our way to Galaxies Edge for the first time this day, scanning in for our MFSR LL. Despite it being a LL, it was a LOOOOONG wait (maybe it broke down?) and we were stuck in one of the metal walkway things for a long time. It was stinky and gross and we were crammed in like sardines but I used the time to my advantage to mobile order dinner at Backlot Express (that place got a lot of our business this trip!). A burger for the adults & chicken tenders for the kids.

After dinner, we must have had a LL (I don't have note of it but I'm quite sure the wait time would have been too high to ride it via standby) for Tower of Terror as that is where we headed next.

1730831854553.jpeg

Tower of Terror at night/in the dark is one of our favorites!!!

1730831878110.jpeg

1730831887106.jpeg

1730831834368.jpeg

We got off ToT a little before 9 and tried to scurry over for a last minute seat at Fantasmic but just as we started to enter the area the CM were making announcements that it was at capacity :( Bummer!! The kids were sad but we said once we got back to the resort we could get Mickey Bars from Landscape of Flavors, and that cheered them up a bit.

As we were preparing to exit the park, we realized they were doing the projection show on the Chinese Theater but the crowds were heavier since Fantasmic had been announced that it was full and we didn't mess around with it this night. We hopped on the Skyliner and were able to see both Epcot and DHS's fireworks from there, so that was nice!

1730832248347.jpeg

Not the same obviously, but still a cool consolation from missing out on the real thing. After arriving at AoA, we stopped quick at Landscape of Flavors for the promised Mickey Bars and discovered the place was a ZOO. Super super busy!

We hurried back to the room to avoid the ice cream melting and the kids happily ate their Mickey Bars from the table while Matt & I attempted to tidy the room up a bit/prep the stroller for the next day etc.

It didn't feel like that long/busy of a day since we got to have a decent nap & swim in the pool for a good chunk of the afternoon, but I think just the fact that it was Day 6 of non-stop park days was catching up- we were exhausted! We were all in bed (after ice cream & showers) by 10:15. The next morning we weren't going to the parks until 3:30ish since we had the theme park nanny at 4- so truly a rest day (well, rest morning! :rotfl:) and we were excited to sleep in! It was much needed!

Total Steps: 22,813 (8.6 miles)

UP NEXT: Sunday, August 18th: Day 7

Sunday, August 18th: Day 7

We woke up around 7am (darn you, internal clocks!!) and mobile ordered some breakfast, leaving the room around 7:30am. We ate breakfast outside and enjoyed the beautiful morning.

1730833528664.jpeg

1730833536433.jpeg

It was standard cafeteria style breakfast food- nothing special but it got the job done. After we finished eating we returned to the room and had a lazy morning watching Old Mickeys, and I attempted to go back to sleep without much success. Matt took the kids to the Elephant Graveyard playground area but still I couldn't fall back asleep (despite feeling exhausted) so I eventually joined them. When it was warm enough (around 10:30), we got the kids in their suits & all sunscreened up and hit the pool. Yesterday when we got there early afternoon there wasn't a single life jacket available (the kids have had swimming lessons but still can't fully swim on their own yet) and the CM/lifeguard said I had to go around table to table and ask if people were done with theirs. I did that (embarrassing) and eventually was able to get two but I didn't want to have to do it again today so I quickly grabbed two since we were there first thing and there were plenty available.

We were able to get a nice shady table/chairs near the splash pad which is where I figured the kids would want to hang out for the most part:

1730833904105.jpeg

I had pre-sliced some fruits & veggies before we left the room and threw them in a To Go box since I know the kids would be hungry, and sure enough after maybe 45 minutes of running around the splash pad area, I got hit with "mama I'm hungry!"

1730833866702.jpeg

1730833875314.jpeg

1730833886008.jpeg

Around 11 I mobile ordered lunch at Riviera and voluntold Matt to go get it while I watched the kids play. He left around 11:45 and unfortunately due to 1. struggling to find the restaurant and 2. a delay in our food being prepared and 3. the Skyliner breaking down he didn't return to AoA til after 1pm. Oof! It was delicious though, so we were all happy!

He commented to me again how next time he wants to stay there. Keep dreaming!

Croque Monsieur

Classic French Ham and Swiss served with choice of Side

Which was also good :)

After lunch, DD6 was trying to move from one side of a pool/lounge chair to the next and tripped and fell pretty good- poor thing was crying and everything - I felt bad! We used this as a reason to head back to the room and take a nap, where the kids napped til 3pm & we were on the Skyliner heading to DHS by 3:30pm.

I had been texting Miss Maya (our theme park nanny) throughout the morning and we had told her to meet us in Galaxies Edge since we were dressed in Star Wars gear and wanted to take some fun PhotoPass pictures as a family.

If you can't tell from the pictures above it was about 4 billion degrees and so I quick dug out the cooling towels and ran to try to find a drinking fountain to get them wet/activate them. Unfortunately there was a mega long line of people filling their water bottles (bottleS plural, one lady I swear pulled out 6 from her backpack, it was like a clown car) so it took a while til I could get them to the kids.

1730836014863.png

1730836034156.png

I also picked up some Outpost Popcorn Mix from Kat Saka's Kettle (our first time - I did not enjoy haha but the kids did!) while we waited for Miss Maya to find us.

1730836058150.png

DD6 giving it the stamp of approval!

Soon enough we met up with Miss Maya and said "SMELL YA LATER" to the kids while we darted off to begin our date night adventure!

1730836068667.png

We were heading first toward Rock N Roller Coaster as Matt & I had purchased LLMP for just ourselves this day and that was our first LL.

After Rock'N we stopped for a PhotoPass picture:

After our two mini photo shoots we decided to head to Baseline Tap House and ordered two IPAs, one Stone Delicious and one Hazy Little Thing.

Meanwhile, Miss Maya had been texting me some updates:

1730836512438.jpeg

1730836522102.jpeg

Matt & I had an ADR for Oga's at 5:30 so we checked in at the stand and waited nearby for our names to be called.

1730836579518.jpeg

1730836585441.jpeg

Soon enough we heard our names & found our spots at the very end of the bar

1730836737829.jpeg

1730836894290.jpeg

A beer or two later, some Storm Troopers made an appearance.... Matt immediately wanting to show his allegiance to the Empire so as not to be heckled --

1730836780897.jpeg

Meanwhile they spotted me in my Leia get up and asked if I was an "innocent traveler or a devious low life" ... and for some reason they didn't believe me when I swore I was just an innocent traveler on a diplomatic mission!!

Rude.

During our bar-date we received a few more updates from Miss Maya - the kids talked her into ice cream!

1730836960501.jpeg

1730836968302.jpeg

Soon enough we departed Oga's (well after the 45 minute limit!) snapping a picture of our favorite DJ (sorry Sonny Eclipse) on our way out:

1730836848616.jpeg

Stopping again for more PhotoPass pictures (or were these before Oga's?? Who knows.. beer was involved!)

As we left Oga's and/or the Millenium Falcon photo shoot (we'll never know which one) we noticed Kylo Ren & some Troopers - so we of course had to join the throng

1730837327513.jpeg

1730837357062.jpeg

Matt seems to think I have some massive crush on Kylo Ren (/Adam Driver?) so he was getting a real kick out of what happened next:

1730838175559.jpeg

I got heckled by Kylo Ren :rotfl2:

Meanwhile not too far away, it looks like DS4 and DD6 were having their own character interaction!

1730838661103.jpeg

And I came out victorious again!!! Whew!

1730838685974.jpeg

After TSM we stopped for dinner at Woody's Lunchbox:

1730838775843.jpeg

I'm not usually a cocktail drinker but the Grownups Lemonade sounded delish and it was!

1730838816889.jpeg

1730838835183.jpeg

I had gotten pickles on the side for Matt's sandwich and I had texted Miss Maya "Where are you guys? We have a bowl full of pickles and would love to drop them off for the kids if we can sneak by!", to which she replied they were at Backlot Express and heading toward Muppets so we met them there and delivered the bowl of pickles- so random :rotfl2: but our kids are pickle obsessed so I know they were happy to have gotten them. We gave the kids a quick kiss goodbye as we entered the tunnel into Galaxies Edge - shortly after we discovered Rise only had a 20 minute estimated Standby!! So we of course hopped in line, it being 8pm by that point:

1730839073274.jpeg

Time stamp on photo below from the transport ship is 8:24, so it was accurate!

1730839157715.jpeg

1730839194052.jpeg

1730839220860.jpeg

After Rise we had a LL for ToT however we were smart to check in with the CM at the LL entrance the estimated wait since the standby was 2.5 hours (oof) and they said 30-40 minutes. We only had another 15-20 minutes of Miss Maya's time so we had to skip it and decided instead to grab ice cream for the kids from Hollywood Scoops (a milkshake & a brownie sundae) while we waited for them to get off of Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway with Miss Maya.

1730839454863.jpeg

1730839471622.jpeg

We found these in MDE later so I'm not sure when they took them, but they sure are cute!
