The One with the Line Jumpers & the Perfectly Timed Fart -- August 2024 Trip Report

I'm back!!!

We last left off in desperate need of a coffee, with Matt taking one for the team and standing in the daunting Joffrey's line while the rest of his family enjoyed their remaining breakfast in the shade of Pixar Place, watching the characters nearby (Sulley, Mr. & Mrs. Incredible, and inside presumably Edna Mode) doing their meet & greets. Coffee in hand, we decided since we were all geared up in our Star Wars outfits we'd go pay a visit to Star Wars Launch Bay, so that's where we headed!

1728393739105.jpeg

Thankfully it's just around the corner so we didn't have far to go. As soon as we entered the area however we discovered all the fun Disney Jr. characters (Doc McStuffins is the only one our kids really know, I think- we don't watch a lot of the Disney Jr shows) in their little meet & greet areas, plus... PLUTO! They for sure know him!! So we decided the Star Wars characters could wait, and since Pluto's line wasn't terrible, we found our place at the end of the line. As fate would have it, when it got to be our turn we were told by the CM that Pluto had to go get a new chew toy but that he would be right back so don't go anywhere. We waited a moment or two and sure enough he came bounding around the corner, saw the kids and immediately started wagging his tail & jumping up and down in excitement to play with them. It was an adorable interaction and I got a ton of cute videos!

Whyyy oh why can't Disboards join the new millennium (can we still say that when we've been in this millennium for 24 years?) and make it so videos are easy to post into TRs?!?!??!?!

Ah well. I digress.

Can you tell/guess what Pluto was trying to play with the kids?? If you guessed Light Saber fights and/or using the force, you would be correct ;)

After our time with Pluto we made our way inside the Launch Bay, relieved for the AC & break from the sun. We had a choice between meeting Chewie or Darth Vader, with Chewbacca's line being only a 10 minute estimated Standby vs Darth Vader's 30 minute estimate so we joined Chewie's line instead. The 10 minutes ended up being WAY off, and it actually took closer to 40- oof!

He had the little photo box things which I don't love, and unsurprisingly as a result we didn't get too many high-quality pictures but it was still fun to chat with Chewie! He of course loved Matt's shirt.

After saying bye to our favorite Wookiee we checked out the props and other cool areas of the Launch Bay, the kids posing for a picture with Rey/Finn/Poe

1728394467668.jpeg

As we got back to our stroller I realized I had left the free Lunchbox Tart out - not in the sun but still should probably get eaten sooner rather than later since it only had that waxy/parchment paper sleeve and wasn't tucked away in a ziploc baggie or anything.. so we happily tore into it! I'm not sure on what the flavor was supposed to be exactly- a quick Google search found this description: "Chocolate-Hazelnut filled Lunch Box Tart frosted with Spooky Vanilla Icing, Halloween Sprinkles, and Candy Corn" which sure sounds like the one we had but the pictures were with purple icing and ours was green so perhaps ours was different - I also remember the filling being more cinnamon-y, similar to the classic Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tart we all know and love... definitely more "fall" inspired and was not straight chocolate/Nutella. Unless of course I'm losing my marbles, which is very possible. Either way, we enjoyed it- the fact that it was free making it taste even sweeter! ;)

1728394672743.jpeg

It was around 11:15am by this point, but we still had 40 mins to go til our Tower of Terror LL--- DS4's first time!! We decided to head toward Sunset Blvd, Matt & I deciding it was close enough to noon for us to share a beer so we stopped by the Sunshine Day bar and picked up a Goose Island IPA, taking it "to go" (of course that's really the only option there is, since there's no seating in that area) and went to grab a cool drink for the kids to share from Rosie's. I got them a frozen raspberry-lemonade slushy and it was very delicious! We all enjoyed the shade of that area and our cold drinks to cool us down- it was a hot one!

1728394816919.jpeg

1728394827313.jpeg

1728394854975.jpeg

We sat there with our drinks until it was close enough to our return window for ToT- me knowing the sooner we get to that second touchpoint the sooner I can book our next LL... however I didn't have very high hopes since it seems this new Genie+/FP+/LL whatever doesn't seem to favor the people who got stuck with later return times (i.e. me) so I basically had already considered this day a bust.

And of course, as soon as it's time for us to leave our table and power-walk toward the Hollywood Tower Hotel, DS4 hits us with "I have to go to the bathroom" .................... So we screeeeeech to a halt.

1728394961364.jpeg

We make a quick run to the nearby bathrooms where he tried to pull a "nevermind, I don't have to go". Poor Matt almost lost it, ha!!! And made him at least try... but no luck. Sigh. 10 minutes later, we were back on our way toward the Tower to redeem our first LL of the day.

DS4 was excited to finally get to ride, though I think was slightly nervous since this one was, in times past, not his sister's favorite. She had bucked up however and agreed to give it another go (third times the charm?) I think slightly in part to not be a weenie in front of her brother who was so excited to get to ride.

1728395934729.jpeg

Time stamp for the above photo was 11:50 (LL was supposed to be 11:50, so I guess even with the bathroom break we were doing okay!) & timestamp below was 12:03, woohoo! When I had gotten us all through the second touchpoint I booked us a 4:50pm LL for Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, which was obviously 5 hours away but I was still happy to have gotten anything!

1728396076818.jpeg

It was almost our turn to ride!!

As we turned the corner and saw who our CM was I excitedly grabbed Matt's elbow to say "Look who it is!!!" but since he's not as big of a Disney fan as I am (bless him for trying) he didn't know who TJ was. I however was excited!

1728396681477.jpeg

Eventually it was our turn, and wouldn't you know it we got the front row!

1728396728925.jpeg

WE HAD A BLAST!!! This was such a fun one, it had just the right amount of ups & downs and both kids had so much fun!!

1728396777168.jpeg

I kept trying to peek at DS4 through the darkness to see if he was having fun and it appeared as though he was the whole time, DD5 too! Huzzah! We had finally converted her! Only took 3 rides ;)

We were off ToT by 12:10 and made our way to Andy's Backyard again since our LL for Toy Story Mania was approaching.

1728397213573.jpeg

1728397365321.jpeg

1728397411584.jpeg

1728397519532.jpeg

In just that short amount of time, the available LLs had dwindled even more so after scanning in to TSM I grabbed Rock N Roller Coaster for 7:40pm, ugh! But used literally the entire length of the queue playing Genie Slots and thankfully just before we were getting into our car I was able to grab a 4:40. I'll take it!

1728397497701.jpeg

We were off this ride by 12:45pm, DD5 scoring a whopping 36,900 points all by herself!! I was thrilled when we turned the corner and it said "best in vehicle" was 158,000 since that was my score & I was BEYOND RELIEVED to not have to hear Matt gloating all day about beating me- whew! :rotfl: That time he beat me on TSM in February was one too many times- so I worked hard every time we were on any sort of competition ride to be sure I won ;)

We had time to kill til our 3:20pm Slinky Dog LL so we decided to take the kids to see Indiana Jones for their first time. As we started parking the stroller it had started to very lightly drizzle, and as we entered the area the CMs were warning everyone that we would likely have a "modified experience" for this showing because of the rain. Unsure what that meant exactly, we found our seats and tapped into the popcorn leftover from yesterday's park visit.

1728397797839.jpeg

1728397828715.jpeg

The kids had never seen Indiana Jones but still were very immersed in the stunt show, poor DS4 shouting loudly "OH NOOOOOO, INDY!!!!!" when the boulder appeared to have crushed him :rotfl2: It was adorable and made my heart melt a bit- though I don't know if the people around us found it so cute ;)

1728398134449.jpeg

The only "modification" that we could figure out was they didn't do the scene with the airplane, though for the life of me I can't remember what they replaced it with or if it was just a shorter show. Either way, it was a good time!

As we left the area we all agreed we were ready for lunch.. and a nap! We started asking the kids what they were in the mood for for lunch, DS4 adamant that he wants a pb&j. I remembered this being a struggle last trip with the kids, so I quickly scoured every QS location's menu and could not find a single one that offered those little uncrustables. Say what?! In a kids theme park I can't get my hands on a pb&j?! The most universal of all kids lunches?!? I was really craving ABC Commissary's buffalo grilled cheese but we were obviously closest to Backlot Express so Matt & I split up - him & DD5 went to ABC Commissary and DS4 and I went in to Backlot Express. I asked a CM near the door if they had pb&j "off the menu" and she said she thought she did- yay! She quick called her supervisor to confirm, so we stood there and waited for confirmation. The supervisor confirmed they DID have them but... it wouldn't be a kids meal, i.e. we wouldn't be able to get any sides or drinks or anything. Weird and a bit of a bummer but oh well- desperate times call for desperate measures! So we got in line.

We made it to the cashier who was an older southern lady and was SO stinking sweet. I explained what the supervisor had said about the pb&j and she gave me a wink, said "hang on a second", worked some kind of magic and asked what sides & drinks DS4 wanted. Wow! Even more pixie dust for us!! She was so nice & I wish I had gotten her name & done a Cast Compliment.

After we waited for our food, I once again realized how big of a dingbat I am as they started loading the tray with DS4's pb&j (with sides of apple slices & french fries + milk) and the adult chicken strip meal I ordered for Matt & DD5 to share.... + the included beer (another Goose Island IPA), obviously. I looked at the tray. I looked at DS4. I looked at the ten billion people all elbowing each other nearby and thought "how the heck am I going to get this from Backlot Express to ABC Commissary without spilling any of the food or beer AND without losing DS4?!?

So I took a deep breath, chugged a bit of Matt's beer to decrease the risk of it sloshing & spilling, told DS4 to hold on to my skirt and DO NOT LET GO, and hoped for the best.

Thankfully, after a painfully slow walk with extreme care not to spill a drop of beer, DS4 & I made it to ABC Commissary without spilling anything- whew! Matt & DD5 had found us a table and so I quickly dropped off their food and went to join the Mobile Order line for my buffalo chicken grilled cheese. I don't remember why I ordered the margarita (maybe they didn't have any beer I liked?) but alas, my meal was accompanied by a watermelon margarita which was good but tart! Timestamp on the photo below is 2:15 so it was definitely a late lunch- we were all starving so we tore into our food pretty quickly.

1728398943588.jpeg

1728398951909.jpeg

1728399274887.jpeg

Sadly this time my buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwich wasn't NEARLY as good as I remembered it being... Not sure if it was a one-off or what, but either way it was a bit of a bummer! As we ate we did some people watching and was surprised at the number of people filling their resort mugs with the pop (can you tell I'm from MN?) from the pop-machines. Sigh- naughty rule breakers, you!!! Matt and I also commented on the number of people who left their disgusting food remnants/mess all over their table. Why is it so hard to clean up after yourself?!

..and then I noticed this sign on the napkin holders on all of the tables:

1728399087539.jpeg

Doh! How had I never ever noticed that before??!?!? We commented to each other how bizarre it is that Disney/ABC Commissary would choose to have this request, but maybe they figure people are going to do it anyway so why not? Or maybe people make the garbage/condiment area a total disaster so it's easier for them to just clean up the garbage themselves? Who knows.

It was about 2:45 when we left our table - of course cleaning up everything as well as we could and neatly stacking it all on our tray for easier cleanup for our hard working CMs! Matt had been checking the radar and we knew the rain was on its way, so we made a quick decision to return to Star Wars launch bay in an attempt to get the kids to nap in the stroller as well as wait out the rain- the adults swapping their tennis shoes for the sandals and digging out everyone's rain gear so it would be ready when the rain came and we were ready to head back outside. We made it inside the Launch Bay, but the kids were tossing & turning in their reclined stroller seats and not really napping so we decided to ditch our plan and just make our way toward Andy's Backyard since our 3:20pm LL for SDD was approaching. Because this is how it always goes, the rain didn't start until we were outside and passing the giant Woody at the entrance to the Toy Story area where of course we had no coverage from the rain.. nor does really anywhere inside Toy Story land at all! So we turned around and it was REALLY coming down- we and about 50 other people all sought refuge under the covered awning of the bathrooms just across from Walt Disney Presents, perpendicular to the Joffrey's/Market stands. We all were huddled together but still trying to give each other space, and unfortunately the stroller (which did have the rain cover on it, but it doesn't cover the whole entire thing) was stuck outside in the rain since people didn't want to huddle in together more. I advised DS4 to try to keep his foot inside as much as he can, since he had the AirTag on his sandal strap. The kids were getting whiney sitting there alone in the torrential downpour, and as soon as people left the covered area we tried to keep pushing ourselves more inward until finally we were all covered together and we could open up the stroller & let the kids breathe a bit.

Eventually the rain slowed down enough to where we agreed to let the kids play, they had sandals & rain jackets after all so why not let them play?! So the adults stayed covered and the kids splashed in some nearby puddles. All in all the rain was maybe 30 minutes long, so not terrible but I kept waiting and waiting for our Slinky Dog LL to turn into an "anytime" pass... but nope! It must never have closed down, which is crazy to think about people going on that ride in that torrential downpour! We eventually left the covered area when it was still raining but at least manageable to walk through, making our way toward Slinky around 3:50.

1728399981868.jpeg

As soon as we had all scanned in to the second touchpoint, I made another LL for Millenium Falcon Smugglers Run, though I didn't make a note of what time I made it for.. whoops.

Slinky was a blast as usual, though both kids were Mike Wazowski'd for the ride photo --

1728400088765.jpeg

Double whoops! On our way toward Rock N Rollercoaster (our next LL), we let the kids talk us into joining the long line to meet Buzz. The CM had been warning us that we may not make it depending on how long it takes since Buzz had to leave on a mission, so we were sure to warn the kids that they may not get to meet him. Thankfully it ended up working out, and we had a great exchange with Buzz! Before it was our turn, the green army men band had been marching by and Buzz stopped and did quite the butt-shaking dance move as he danced along to the beat, which I got a great video of & made us all laugh super hard. I had never seen Buzz shake his booty before!!!

When it was our turn to meet him, DS4 asked "DO YOU HAVE ANY MISSIONS?!?!?!?" which Buzz nodded emphatically and made a "Z" with his pointer finger so I'm guessing he meant yes, he had to go fight Zurg. Buzz held out his hand to give DS4 a high five (but the "low five") version and kept pulling his hand away as if to say "too slow!", doing that over and over until DS4 was laughing really hard. It was adorable! Then when it was time for the CM to take the kids photos with Buzz, he kept using his giant hand to cover DD5's face. This was a spicy Buzz, that's for sure!!

After the kids had had their turn, Matt & I joined for a family picture where Buzz tried to offer to shake Matt's hand but then did the whole pulls-his-hand-away-at-the-last-minute like "ooohhhh, too cool" and brought his hand beside the side of his head. He then had to look at me and gesture, as if to say "did you catch that???" This Buzz, I tell ya!!!

1728400775176.jpeg

After our hilarious interaction with "Spicy Buzz", we left all smiling ear to ear and headed toward Rock N Rollercoaster. We had told DS4 he wasn't tall enough (thankfully I at least knew that he wasn't tall enough for THIS one and didn't give the poor guy false hope!) and with his lack of a nap starting to show, he was already getting a little tearful. We set up the rider swap and the sweet CM gave DS4 one of those "come back when you're tall enough to ride" cards which I literally JUST LAST WEEK learned that those are actual "skip the line" cards not just a cute little distraction for the kiddos and I've been tossing mine. WHAT. Can we all collectively slap our foreheads on my behalf?

giphy.gif

Anyway, Matt & DS4 headed toward Lightning McQueen while DD5 and I joined the LL. It took no time at all and as we watched the limos whizz off we got more and more excited!! Finally it was our turn!

1728401193885.jpeg

DD5's face :rotfl2: This ride rattled my brain a bit more than I like and I left with a bit of a headache but still had a great time. After we had finished the ride but just before making it to the unloading station we came to a stop for a while, so I took out my phone and snapped this quick picture to commemorate her first ride & how much fun she had:

1728401274443.jpeg

After we got off and chuckled at our picture, we stopped and asked one of the Gift Store CMs if they had any fun pins or anything to further commemorate her first ride- not just her first ride on Rock N which is cool in and of itself, but this meant that she was officially tall enough for EVERY SINGLE RIDE at WDW! How did my baby get so tall/big?!!??!

The CM made her a fun celebration pin so since Matt & DS4 were still in Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy (RIP) we did a little mini photo shoot.

1728401456394.jpeg

1728401466238.jpeg

1728401475122.jpeg

Eventually we were reunited with Matt & DS4 so we did the "child swap", and DD5 got to ride again! Again, her face!!! :rotfl:

1728401516910.jpeg

It was a little after 5pm by this point, and I didn't know what to do with poor DS4 who was tired & getting cranky and had awful FOMO that his sister got to ride a big kid ride without him. So we made our way to Star Tours, since that rarely has a long wait and with our newfound Star Wars obsession it should be fun.

1728401698178.jpeg

1728401714367.jpeg

We were all seated and ready for it to begin when the CM told us we had to evacuate and get into a different "theater" (or whatever you'd call them!). So we unbuckled and unfortunately had to wait a bit and go through the whole pre-ride instructions all over again, so that was a bit of a time waster but what can you do. It was the first time that had happened to me on this ride!

1728401796152.jpeg

1728401807616.jpeg

After our ride, we re-joined Matt & DD5 and all made our way toward our last ride of the day - Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. I didn't get any pictures or video, but I presume it was a great ride as always :)

Our initial plan had been to leave the park for our afternoon rest after Slinky Dog at 3:20, but since the rain pushed everything back a bit we ultimately decided to switch things up and instead of taking a rest just head back early and call it an early night. So at 6:10 we left the park via the Skyliner, making our way back to Art of Animation. No Fantasmic for us, this night!

While we were on the Skyliner, I mobile ordered us a large pizza from Landscape of Flavors, using 2 adult meal credits in the process, as well as an adult Caesar salad (I felt like I needed some vegetables in my life LOL), which was another adult meal credit. While placing the mobile order however it only allowed me 1 beer, so that was odd since technically I should have been given 3. So when we went to pick up the food, I asked the CM about it and they said they would grab me 2 more. This is why it never hurts to ask!

1728402119946.jpeg

We made it back to our room and took quick showers, changing into our jammies and settling into the couch for a night of pizza & Mickey cartoons (again, "Old Mickeys" as we call them!)

1728402135314.jpeg

1728402142862.jpeg

We were all in bed & off to dreamland by 8:30pm that night! What a great day! Even though the LLs didn't exactly work out as well as they did back in the Genie+ days, we still didn't wait in any horrendously long lines & got a lot accomplished. We never redeemed our last MFSR LL, but we didn't care since we had ridden it via standby that morning. Overall it was a really great day!!

TOTAL STEPS: 19,659 (7.3 miles)

Up Next: Friday, August 16th: Day 5

Wowwwweeeeeee have I been MIA!! Sorry y'all!

To summarize life lately.... we bought a house! Yay! Only been over 4 years in the making..... oof. BUT this house is everything we've hoped for (except for the price tag....ouch) and we are going to be SO happy there. We are thrilled!
We then obviously had to immediately turn around and prep our current house for sale and list it etc., and it took a bit longer than we expected to sell (we had been used to the last several years/months of houses selling within the first day of being on the market and ours took about a week) but thankfully it did and we only took a $5k reduction from asking price. Not too shabby!
Plus it was our wedding anniversary & then Halloween and then DD6's birthday + birthday party.... So all that plus the stress of buying and then selling and now packing & moving.... it's a miracle I have any hair left at all!

ANYWAY - I wanted to quick share the pictures from DD6's Star Wars themed birthday party before I move on to Day 5 (Friday August 16th)!

For the "snacky" type foods we had:

- Jar Jar Links (pigs in a blanket that I made in the oven & then transferred to our Instant Pot (sans lid and with tin foil covering the bottom to avoid them getting soggy) to keep warm)
- 7 Leia Dip (7 layer taco dip)
- Trooper Scoopers (tortilla chips)
- Obi Wan Kabob-ies (fruit skewers)
- Jedi Juice (a green punch type of drink)
- Edible Ewoks (Teddy Grahams)

And then the dinner was Take & Bake Papa Murphy's pizza that Matt painstakingly created the Alliance logo out of pepperonis! He was so proud (as was I!) of his skills, I think they turned out great!!

Our birthday princess (Leia ;)) is so loved!! She had to change out of her Leia themed Taylor Joelle dress halfway through the party after an unfortunate incident with a glass of that bright green Kool Aid 😭 but still so cute!

Thursday, August 16th: Day 5

My alarm was set for 5am this day, with the plan for this day being one of our "rest" days (ha!!!), AKA a day that we were not planning on hitting the parks hard. We had BBB reservations for both kids at 9:20am followed by an 11:15 Capture Your Moment photo session... and this was a MNSSHP day. We learned a few days prior that MNSSHP days don't automatically equate to an empty MK anymore so we hemmed & hawed over whether it was worth it to Rope Drop.... and I'll admit that when 5am rolled around I was REAL tempted to hit snooze but ultimately decided against it and rolled myself out of bed to get ready. We left the room at 5:45 to make our way toward the bus stop and secure our spot in line. We sat there alone for a while and I decided to run back to the room (perks of the Lion King location compared to the Little Mermaid rooms!) to make the kids a quick breakfast for them to nibble on while we waited for our bus to show up.

1730816138561.jpeg

I had the kids BBB outfits (this was a surprise, they had no idea it was coming- by the way!) tucked away in the stroller, and I just threw on some other outfits I had packed so we really didn't have a cohesive theme for the morning, but oh well!

We were the only people in line until another family showed up around 6:15, and good timing on their part because the first bus rolled up at 6:18! We were driving away 2 minutes later and arrived at Magic Kingdom at 6:32. We got to security where they had us stand in line prior to going through the metal detectors for about 10 minutes. In that time, a kid in the line opposite of us (so maybe 10-15 feet away) threw up all over the ground. Blah!! If you recall from previous TRs I have awful emetophobia and this very nearly sent me into a tailspin. The kid looked white/green/grey and the mom was attempting to assure everyone around her that he just was car sick (I freaking hope so, because Norovirus is my absolute worst nightmare) but it was enough to make me instantly nauseous and gave the kids a really quick warning/reminder to try to keep their hands off the handrails etc. within the park and to DEFINITELY keep their hands away from their face. Matt was doing his best to distract me, and the kids were distracting themselves well enough as we made it through security without incident. Soon enough we were at the tapstiles (2nd family in line) waiting to be let in to the park, time stamp on the picture below is 6:50am:

1730816482816.jpeg

At 7am precisely I joined the VQ for Tron (no LLMP this day since it was a "rest" day) and got Boarding Group 11- woohoo! We scanned in to Magic Kingdom at 7:02 and made our way to Fantasy Land- we were going to get on 7DMT this day come hell or high water!

The sun had not fully risen by this point and Main Street was looking beautiful as always.

1730816609527.jpeg

As was the castle:

1730816671003.jpeg

1730816787928.jpeg

We joined the masses after the bridge and had a really decent spot in line - there was one "row" of people in front of us... so we had a good shot at getting on 7DMT without incident compared to our last attempt!

As time went on the line behind us grew, me snapping this picture at 7:28

1730816824917.jpeg

Matt and I taking our obligatory "waiting for Rope Drop" picture next:

1730816857782.jpeg

At 7:30am when the park opened for Early Entry, they lowered the rope & Rope Drop was the usual cluster that it always is - but we stuck together and decided to have Matt park the stroller while I held the kids hands with a vice grip and maintain our spot in line. He joined us shortly after and thankfully none of us were hurt in the stampede. I really think they need to have a better system for stroller management at that ride, like how it is at Rise of the Resistance!!

Anyway, by 7:40 we were weaving through the queue, me taking some blurry pictures mostly for time-stamp purposes.

The kids had fun in the queue (and again I didn't feel AS awful about them touching the interactive aspects since we were among the first in line for the day.. how germy could they be?) but they obviously didn't get much time at each station since we were power walking through the queue.

I have video of the witch at the end of the ride at 7:51, so about 20 minutes from rope drop to off the ride.

Our Boarding Group for Tron was called around 7:45 which I'm not sure how, since I didn't think it was part of Early Entry.. but alas, after 7DMT we made our way to Tomorrowland to ride that next.

1730817331037.jpeg

It was a ghost town! We set up the rider switch and DD5 (now DD6, going to be hard to switch back and forth! So I guess I'll just refer to her as DD6 ;)) and I joined the empty line.

1730817393196.jpeg

Look at her cute little Mickey claw clip! The Easter Bunny had gotten it for her earlier in the year, she was so excited to get to wear it!

We quickly made our way through the deserted queue, marveling at the emptiness:

I snapped this quick before tucking my phone away:

1730817460065.jpeg

We were off the ride by 8:05am, DD6 and Matt quickly zooming again through the empty queue while I sat with DS4. He was bummed, but at least not tearful this day!

We hung around the secret perfect photo op spot after the rides exit so I could get a good video of Matt & DD6.

1730817547528.jpeg

After I got their cool video, DS4 wanted to sit on the "test seats" for the attraction, so we made our way that direction while waiting for Matt & DD6 to join us.

Once they did, we made a quick pit stop in the companion bathroom inside the Tron pavilion and decided to mobile order some breakfast at the Lunching Pad since we were nearby. Matt was desperate for some coffee so I picked the food up (breakfast totchos) while him + the double stroller of kids went to Main Street to get Starbucks. We had long decided that even though it meant more steps, Starbucks was going to be the best "bang for our buck" in terms of using a snack credit for coffee since Joffreys is only one size (medium) vs at Starbucks you can get the biggest size they offer AND extra shots of espresso/flavors and it still would be considered one snack credit- so off to Starbucks he went.

Breakfast didn't look like much but HOLY MOLY was it tasty. That's an entire omelet on top of that bed of tots!! Yes please!!

I made my way to Casey's where I grabbed an empty table & waited for Matt, coffee, and kids to join me.

If this isn't the most perfect breakfast with a view... I don't know what is. In that moment, it felt like heaven.

As I waited, I looked around and marveled at how empty the park was both in terms of crowds-on-sidewalks AND of wait times on MDE. Time stamp on the photo above was 8:30, so a full 30 minutes into the park being open to the public. Where was everyone?! It was very unfortunate how less-crowded this day was compared to the previous MNSSHP day, since on THIS day we had plans and couldn't/wouldn't be going on rides. Bummer! I also noticed while perusing MDE that Peter Pan had re-opened early. WHAT?!?!?! It had been down for a lengthy refurbishment and wasn't set to re-open until our 2nd to last day, but here it was open 3 days ahead of schedule. Sweet! Again, a bummer that we couldn't zoom over there and hop in line since we had BBB in just 50 minutes.

As time went on and Matt & the kids joined me at Casey's Corner, we noticed more and more people walking into the park on Main Street.. maybe they thought the park opened later, at 8:30 or 9?? Or they just wanted to sleep in. Who knows!

The kids didn't love the breakfast totchos as much as I did (more for me!) so we ditched Casey's and made our way to Sleepy Hollow for some Mickey Waffles, since those are always a win.

We kind of had to rush through this waffle since we didn't want to be late to our BBB appointment, and by 8:58 I was taking this picture of Matt passing the castle into Fantasy Land -

1730818500658.jpeg

By 9:00am we had told the kids about the surprise and we parked the stroller and made our way in!!

1730818552106.jpeg

We checked in, where they asked what the kids wanted to be called (i.e. Prince DS4, Queen DD6 etc.) and they handed us a card with all the options available to us. We already knew which package we wanted (the cheapest ones, ha!) but pretended to peruse the 'menu' anyway ;)

1730818662684.jpeg

Soon enough we had been introduced to our fairy godmother and the kids were having a ball in the little store area while we waited for everything to get put together for us.

At 9:15 precisely we were in our little fitting room and the kids were so excited to say the magic words (Bibbidi... Bobbidi.. Boo!) and make their magic mirrors come to life.

As I mentioned I had packed the kids Taylor Joelle Cinderella themed outfits (Prince Charming for DS4 and the pink gown for DD6-- I know I know the blue is much more regal and the classic 'Cinderella' dress but I just LOVE this one!!). DD6 still got that "Best Day Ever" t-shirt included with the package and it is her favorite pajama shirt to this day - it is so soft!

Soon enough the prince & princess were all dressed and ready for their makeovers! So back to the shop area we went, waiting for our fairy godmothers to be ready.

1730819265937.jpeg

When it was our turn I was already just about in tears. Just feeling so unbelievably blessed to be here and see this magic in my kids eyes. They were just about bursting with excitement!!!

I took mostly videos during the makeovers, but thankfully there is a PhotoPass photographer doing the rounds while the kids are getting all beautified so I was grateful for that!

DS4 being presented with his shield & sword was the absolute sweetest thing. The Fairy Godmother kept having him close his eyes and have him recite his vow to protect the village and then would present him with.......!! A comb. "ohhh that's not right, lets try again" and then....!! a Q-tip. He was dying, thinking this was the funniest thing ever. It was so sweet! When she finally gave him his foam sword and shield, my-oh-my did she become his favorite person ever. This kid was in heaven!!

After their makeovers were complete (and Matt & I dried our tears, tipping our fairy godmothers for all their love & hard work), the CMs led us across the way to Sir Mickeys for our free photo shoot.

1730819798798.jpeg

After our free photo shoot in Sir Mickeys (those CM photographers were AMAZING!!), we decided to head to the front of the park to see if the Capture Your Moment photographers could see us a bit early, since it was only about 10am by this point and our CYM session was at 11:15 but we didn't want the hair & makeup to melt off in the next hour & 15 minutes. I didn't think it was very likely they could accommodate, so we took our time as we exited Fantasy Land to head back toward Main Street.

1730819911320.jpeg

1730819924021.jpeg

When we made our way to the front to Time Square Theater (where in February is where PhotoPass was housed), they told us they had moved and were now right next door to Sleepy Hollow. Doh! So we turned on our heels and headed right back where we came from, the kids not caring much and I think were happy to roam the park with their new hair-dos & outfits. Though the heat was grossly intense and I was worried about burning since we didn't have sunscreen on.

When we made it to the new PhotoPass headquarters, they said they couldn't see us early. Darn! We decided to head next door to the Hall of Presidents, since none of us had done it before. We didn't think the kids would hold much interest, but surprisingly they did! And asked questions throughout, which I think would have annoyed other guests if it had been more full but it was just us and a handful of other guests so thankfully they didn't bother anyone.

1730820126334.jpeg

1730820144014.jpeg

The kids know me well enough that any time any sort of powerful music or emotional scene in a movie comes on they immediately look at me and go "mom are you crying?" so of course this was no exception :rotfl:

As we left the theater feeling patriotically (and air-conditionally) recharged, we walked slowly back to the PhotoPass area, it being about 10:45am by this point and our appointment was for 11:15.

1730820268602.jpeg

This time they said they were able to see us early and they asked us where we wanted the pictures to be taken, me saying that since we just did BBB & were all in Cinderella gear, that the castle herself would be great. You could almost see the disappointment in the photographers faces, ha! I'm sure that's the number one request they get, and probably also the hardest to navigate thanks to crowds. But nonetheless they adhered to my request, and we started at the back side of the castle (right next to BBB/Sir Mickey's) where it was a bit more shaded and empty. We also had told them that we were celebrating/honoring DD6 starting Kindergarten in a couple weeks so they made up a sign that says "Kindergarten here I come!" for her to hold in some of the pictures.

They took about 5 trillion pictures but I'll try to narrow it down to some of my favorites! ;)

1730822031187.jpeg

1730822090119.jpeg

1730822121003.jpeg

These are some of my favorite pictures however unfortunately they are all out of focus :( We left the photoshoot thanking our photographer profusely, went to It's a Small World (which was a walk-on, incidentally) and as we got off the ride our photos had appeared on the MDE app. I quickly scrolled through them and noticed that all of our family photos (a few of them shown above) were out of focus :( I was so bummed!! I decided ultimately that since I had paid $130 for BBB and then another $100 for the CYM (& then the $170 or whatever for Memory Maker to get all the photos) it was a reasonable expectation that they would be decent quality........ and it's not like we could re-create the photos (with full BBB makeovers/outfits) on another day.. so I decided we would turn around and head back to the PhotoPass HQ and see if anything could be done. I was hoping they had some photoshop wizard in the back that could make the images less blurry or, if that wasn't possible, I guess at the very least I would have taken a partial refund since I was happy with the kids' solo pictures and just not our family pictures in front of the castle. Instead, the CM were apologetic and offered us a full re-shoot right then and there. The kids were HOT and tired & crabby by this point (Matt too) but I encouraged them all to buck up because we were going to try to get it done again and get it done right. After they had made the offer to re-do the photos, it was about another 40 minutes until we actually got them taken which only added insult to injury to the rest of my families fatigue and crabbiness. Additionally there was another mom + young (4?) daughter duo in there who were working something out with the CM and the daughter was having a full blown screaming fit, and the mom was teetering on the edge of tears herself. The CMs did their best to soothe the girl, offering her little trinkets to distract her and a piece of paper + crayon to color, but not much was helping and eventually I realized it was just me and the daughter at the counter. I knelt down and talked to her, she had calmed down enough to where she could talk at least, and she showed me what she had been coloring. I chatted with her briefly and the mom & CM re-appeared and the mom confessed that the daughter had autism and that the ONE thing she (the mom) had wanted for her birthday was some family pictures but that it was proving to not be a good day for any of them. I felt so badly for her/them and listened intently as she spoke with me but didn't have any reassuring words to offer other than "you're doing your best and that's all that matters- and what makes you a great mom" since I don't have children with disabilities so I can't even sit here and pretend to know what it's like. Soon enough it was our turn so we said farewell and it was my family's turn to get photographed again. I hope that mom & daughter's day turned around and the mom got her birthday wish! ♥️

We told the new set of photographers that we were satisfied with the kids' solo shots and that really all we wanted was to re-create the family shots in front of the castle, so that's where we headed.

WOWZA, what a difference in quality!!
