The One Where I Forget to Take Pics - A December 2015 Dining Report - COMPLETED, 2/8: Boma

African Milk Tart: Coconut Custard in a Chocolate Tart Shell dusted with Sugar and Five-Spice Powder then drizzled with Dark Chocolate Ganache.

Now I love coconut, and I love chocolate, but this was INCREDIBLY unique. The flavors were unlike anything I've ever had before. Honestly, I'm not even sure what I can compare it to! But it really was good, and I'm looking forward to having it again in October! :cutie:

For the curious, here's a cross-section of it:

Yum Yum Yum! Definitely getting this. Into the bucket it goes.

The character interaction did NOT disappoint! The food was okay! There wasn't any wow factor or anything to it, but it was a good solid dinner buffet.

I've recently been having some reservations about my own reservation for the spring dinner. This is reassuring.

That apple danish looked delish...sorry about the disappointing sandwich!!

I'm so sorry your breakfast wasn't nice as the photo looks delicious!!!

Glad the buffet at H&V was good :)

Sorry landscape of flavors was a bust for you again. Maybe if they made a breakfast sandwich on danish's that would be good. Sort of like a cheesy mcgriddle or something. I think I"m on to something.....

Can't wait to try Harambe one of these days. Your ribs (or disney food blogs ribs) look divine. We've tried to go twice, but its just been too crowded. Maybe next time.

So happy the character interactions at H&V were great. Looking forward to seeing some pics in your trip report. We've done H&V twice for breakfast so Casey can enjoy the disney jr gang. Food was fine, but nothing special. Sounds like the food is about the same at a dinner time

Too bad about the breakfast burger. Yay on the Danish.

I actually was fairly impressed with the chicken dishes when we went to Hollywood and Vine. I was expecting awful but it was one of our better meals.

That African milk tart looks amazing. I may have to find one on Sunday. Yum!

Great reviews! You just gave me some more ideas of where to go on our next trip.

Those ribs look right up my guys' alley, and I like exotic stuff so Harambe Market would be a perfect place for us to try.

Hollywood and Vine looks like a good variety too. DS's would love the lobster mac&cheese, and I'm with ya on the carnivore part!

Sorry about the disappointment at LoF- I think sometimes places make things bland so they appeal to the masses. At least the Danish was yummy!

"Steak" and Eggs Breakfast Burger: Angus Chuck Burger, Fried Egg, Cheddar Cheese, and Bacon with Breakfast Potatoes or House-seasoned Fries.

Normally I loooooove bacon and egg cheeseburgers, so I was super excited for this! Sadly, it let me down. Even when I doctored it up with condiments, it was just dry and uninspiring! The breakfast potatoes were surprisingly bland too, hence the hence to try and give them some flavor. Sigh. Can't win 'em all, I guess...

Aw, darn. By the sound of it, this could have been so good! Too bad it wasn't.

Mmmmmm. :cloud9: I wish I was eating them RIGHT NOW.

Omg, yum! I am not big on ribs but these really look delicious. And the salad with it sounds good, too! (Although my fiance is also a cucumber hater).

Now I love coconut, and I love chocolate, but this was INCREDIBLY unique. The flavors were unlike anything I've ever had before. Honestly, I'm not even sure what I can compare it to! But it really was good, and I'm looking forward to having it again in October! :cutie:

OMG, omg, omg. I feel like I need this. I have a huge sweet tooth so I'm always on the hunt for some delicious chocolatey goodness - even better when it includes coconut ;) YUM.

Your H&V meal doesn't look bad at all! I have generally avoided that place because 1) Disney JR meal (no kids so why would I wanna put myself through that one lol) and 2) It generally gets so-so reviews. But, everything I've heard about Minnie's holiday dine has made me think I may need to give it a try. Everything looks really good! I usually don't love buffets because I feel like the food is kinda "meh" (other than breakfast) but this looks awesome. My mom and I may need to give it a try.

First that desert at Harambe market looks to die for!
It was pretty tasty! :cutie:

Second can we talk about H&V, I feel like it gets such a bad rap, but it's not horrible.... It's not the best either but I didn't hate it that's for sure!
I know, right?! Now to be fair, I don't exactly have a very refined palate, I'm quite happy at the local Golden Corral. :rotfl:

That is too bad about your breakfast burger. You would think the people in charge would taste test the food to see if it's good or not. The Harambe market looks quite delicious! I have it on my dining bucket list now. The H&V meal looks like it had a nice variety.
Harambe Market was definitely one of the yummiest QS meals I had! H&V had a huge selection!

Yum Yum Yum! Definitely getting this. Into the bucket it goes.
Hooray!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I've recently been having some reservations about my own reservation for the spring dinner. This is reassuring.
Yeah, you'll be fine. Don't go in expecting to be blown away by the food. It's nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. It's just good solid standard fare. The characters totally make it all worth it, though! :goodvibes

That apple danish looked delish...sorry about the disappointing sandwich!!
It's okay... Ya win some, you lose some.

That sounded really good...too bad about the yucky parts...ugh...
It was mostly good, though! :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry your breakfast wasn't nice as the photo looks delicious!!!
I know, I thought it looked amazing when I ordered it! Oops!

Glad the buffet at H&V was good :)
Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised!

And when we get the chance to meet up Billie, I will give you a portion of my ribs and trade you for your portion of salad - it will be perfect for us both! :flower:
This is PERFECT! I will give up my salad in exchange for more ribs every single time. :cutie:

Mm mm those ribs look awesome! Thanks for the awesome food reviews! :)
They were SO GOOD!!! ::yes::

Sorry landscape of flavors was a bust for you again.
This was the only time it was a bust, honestly! The other times I ate there... Pasta Bowl lunch and Omelet breakfast... were phenomenal! :goodvibes

Maybe if they made a breakfast sandwich on danish's that would be good. Sort of like a cheesy mcgriddle or something. I think I"m on to something.....
Okay, that's all you. I don't mix my sweets and my savories! (Exceptions: Dipping my bacon in maple syrup, or my french fries in a my Frosty.)

Can't wait to try Harambe one of these days. Your ribs (or disney food blogs ribs) look divine. We've tried to go twice, but its just been too crowded. Maybe next time.
Mine looked just like the photos! They tasted even better that they looked! :thumbsup2

So happy the character interactions at H&V were great. Looking forward to seeing some pics in your trip report. We've done H&V twice for breakfast so Casey can enjoy the disney jr gang. Food was fine, but nothing special. Sounds like the food is about the same at a dinner time
Character pics are up in my TR now! Ask and ye shall receive! :cutie:

Too bad about the breakfast burger. Yay on the Danish.
Super yay on the danish! I wish I was nibbling on one right now! :goodvibes

I actually was fairly impressed with the chicken dishes when we went to Hollywood and Vine. I was expecting awful but it was one of our better meals.
Yes! I was loving one of the chicken dishes in particular, I can't remember what all was in it, but it was some kind of creamy stuffed chicken and I had two helpings of it! :cloud9:

That African milk tart looks amazing. I may have to find one on Sunday. Yum!
I hope you do! It's definitely unique! :D

Great reviews! You just gave me some more ideas of where to go on our next trip.
Yay! Happy to help! :-)

Those ribs look right up my guys' alley, and I like exotic stuff so Harambe Market would be a perfect place for us to try.
Oh, then you should definitely check it out! I loved it! The only problem was, like so many places that week, trying to find a table was dicey. So many people! :faint:

Hollywood and Vine looks like a good variety too. DS's would love the lobster mac&cheese, and I'm with ya on the carnivore part!
I think I was a Tyrannosaurus Rex in a previous lifetime.

Sorry about the disappointment at LoF- I think sometimes places make things bland so they appeal to the masses. At least the Danish was yummy!
The danishes righted all the wrongs. :thumbsup2

Aw, darn. By the sound of it, this could have been so good! Too bad it wasn't.
I know, it sounded amazing, didn't?!

Omg, yum! I am not big on ribs but these really look delicious. And the salad with it sounds good, too! (Although my fiance is also a cucumber hater).
They were outstanding! And good, that just means you get to eat your fiance's salad.

OMG, omg, omg. I feel like I need this. I have a huge sweet tooth so I'm always on the hunt for some delicious chocolatey goodness - even better when it includes coconut ;) YUM.
It was definitely unique! The spices they use on/in it were unlike anything I've ever had before. I could tell there was some cinnamon in there, but I couldn't figure out what else! :scratchin

Your H&V meal doesn't look bad at all! I've avoided it for the Disney Jr. aspect, too. ::yes:: But I'm glad they're are doing classic characters at dinner now! It was a blast, and even though the food wasn't anything super special, it was fine and we all had a great time! :goodvibes

We are carnivores too..and that roast beast looks fantastic..the more it moos the better I like it..hahaha...thanks for some amazing photos..and by the way sometimes lobster that has been pre frozen tastes like you described..I purchased a pound of frozen lobster meat and it sort of tasted like this..

We're excited to try H&V for the new characters, plus we got a Fantasmic package, so we felt that was a good idea! I am slightly nervous about the dinner buffet b/c we like the breakfast buffets best. I'm happy you enjoyed it!! Looking forward to something new! :sulley:

OK, now that I have updated my own thread finally, I'm back to look at all the deliciousness. Whenever we get back to the Animal Kingdom, I'm going to have to see about that tart. It looks wonderful! And honestly, after all the bad reviews the food at H&V looks really tasty. Seafood mac and cheese just sounds great :)

Everything else so far also looks good - seems like your dining choices were generally a hit :) Can't wait to read more!

I think you just sealed the deal on what I want to order at the Harambe Market! Those ribs look amazing!

Yum, lunch at Harambe market is on my list for October. Those ribs look AMAZING!! And I love coconut and chocolate so that dessert makes it on my list too!

I know they're relatively generic, but I love love love Disney danishes!

I've been spending all my time on the TR board and I keep forgetting to come over here! I have to say I agree 100% with this comment ::yes:: I get Disney danish ALOT because they are DELISH! In fact, last week DH and I ate breakfast at BOG. We didn't get any danish on our pastry tray so I figured ok, guess they don't give pastry. But then when we were like 2/3 of the way finished with our meal, I look over and notice danish on the pastry trays on TWO other tables. I was like "WHAT!! Why didn't we get DANISH?!" But I also noticed a couple other different pastries on those trays so I figure it's a crap shoot, a crap shoot I lost that day

They are the same set of pastries more or less, though our first visit we didn't get the cinamon rolls on either tray, the second one we got a second tray, just for the cinnamon roll, due to the world being awful since minion 3 got one and not minion 2.

Is THAT why that one piece tasted so funky?! I thought it was so strange that every other bit of it was delicious! That must have been from a bad lobster batch! :crazy2:

It was great, except for that one piece of lobster! The rest was delicious! The buffet was good across the board. Basic, nothing to write home about. But definitely a solid dinner to have while meeting Mickey and the gang (without standing in line for hours)! :thumbsup2

Everything else so far also looks good - seems like your dining choices were generally a hit :) Can't wait to read more!
I know how to pick good food! :rotfl:

I think you just sealed the deal on what I want to order at the Harambe Market! Those ribs look amazing!
They tasted even better than they look! Om nom nom! :D

Yum, lunch at Harambe market is on my list for October. Those ribs look AMAZING!! And I love coconut and chocolate so that dessert makes it on my list too!
You should definitely check it out! I'm planning on going back in October as well! ::yes::

Blah! Is it really that random? I'm doing breakfast there in October. I wonder if I get a tray with no danishes if I could ask for some? :scratchin
