As we were wrapping the last days of our of trip, I noticed DH taking long pauses and looking around as we stopped into the Royal Palm Club at the Grand Floridian.

And then, he stopped by the concierge and inquired about big family suites. Ones that slept more. A LOT more. Most importantly, he wanted to have access to the club for all. No suites sleep multiple family unites in the Main Building...

I knew what he was thinking: how about his WHOLE family - together there?

Before our trip, we'd just spent 9 days with his mom, three sisters, and multiple spouses, kids, and more. His mom turned 89 on New Year's Eve.

We arrived home on Jan. 11th and never spoke of it again. And, to be honest, I thought we'd skip Disney this next year. HE hates the crowds and with all the new stuff coming this fall: Star Wars, etc. - I didn't want to fight the crowds (or deal with his complaints of the crowds).

But then, a week ago, he handed me his phone to show me a group text he'd just sent his sisters. (And no, I wasn't on the group text. Nor had we discussed it again).

"How about we celebrate Mom's 90th at the Grand Floridian at Disney World? I'll pick up the rooms and cover the club....."

The texts flew back and forth: "What about Mom getting around the parks?" and "For Mom's Birthday or a couple of days later?" and MORE...

With his honest take: "Mom doesn't have to go into the parks. NO ONE has to go into the parks. The Grand Floridian is a fabulous resort. I'll cover the rooms and whoever wants to go into the parks can do their families theme park tickets...."

After taking him to the airport for a 2 week work trip to Madrid last Friday..

I call the magic 407-W-DISNEY and got to work to begin figuring out the logistics of 4 branches of the family + Mom on a trip to Disney World ( dear Lord help us with the crowds) checking in on January 2nd.

Thanks to a 72-Hour Hold, it gave us time to manage discussions over time zones (including that 6 hour difference between me and DH) of is everyone IN or OUT.

Not too surprising...everyone is IN. And tonight I made a 2nd call to put deposits down on 4 Theme Park View, Club Level Rooms in the Main Building of The Grand Floridian for 10 adults & 5 Kids. Checking in on January 2, 2020 and checking out (for everyone but Me & DH) on January 5, 2020.

On a whim, I extended our rooms for check out on January 7th :earboy2:

WHO are we?

There's ME: A Life Coach by Day. The Planner of All Things Disney by night.

I love all things about Disney: the movies, the old Mickey Mouse Club, and parks.

Favorite Park: Magic Kingdom
Favorite Ride: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Favorite Princess: Mulan. or Belle.
Favorite Character: Classic Mickey. And Pooh.
Favorite Resort: Grand Floridian (though Contemporary is a close 2nd)

This will be

There's DH: A retired Naval Officer (Go Navy! Beat Army!) and is back to working for Uncle Sam as a Civilian. He will watch the occasional Disney movie with me, but isn't a super fan. He does love Marvel...

Favorite Park: Magic Kingdom
Favorite Ride: Expedition Everest
Favorite Obscure Movie: Meet the Robinson's
Favorite Meal from Last Year: Breakfast at the Royal Palm Club

So, the rest of this merry trip?

MOM: 90 on 12/31/19.

And the rest of the family? More later. For now...shall we just say lots of pixie dust needs to be sent my way to manage planning a trip for 10 adults + 5 kids + potentially 5 (or more adults) + 2 more kids... We don't have to confirm who is in what room around 30 Days before check-in (but as we know well before the 60 day mark for Fast Passes)....WITH a group of folks who rarely return emails and of the 3 sisters, only 1 is my friend on Facebook....

Maybe buckets of pixie dust???
