The One in Which We Discover "Food Drunk" is a thing! Updated 6/6!!!!

Great review! We leave in a few days and I have now officially added a Grand Marnier slushie to my list of "must try"!

We made our way over into World Showcase, and luckily our stop wasnt that far into it, we were getting worn out after all that running around and dancing! Norway was our stop, and obviously, Akershus was our destination for dinner! I had wanted to do a princess meal, but couldnt get into CRT, and figured Id try Akershus for dinner! We checked in early, and took a seat by the stroller parking. It wasnt very long before we were called in! It looked like we had really just been waiting for Belle to come back before they let a new group in, yay!

LOOK! You can finally see Paiges hair in that one! Pretty! God I wish I could braid&BAHAHA.

We were excited! It was also completely adorable to see Snow White in the adjoining room skipping around and just being PERF!

Belle came out in the next little bit and holy we were completely blown away by the dress all over again, that thing is SO PRETTY! Even though the photo was included we still grabbed one on our camera, its just easier, and then Ive got it for the TR! Belle was seriously amazing, she commented on the Disneybounding and on the flowers and made sure to take her time with us and it was seriously awesome.

She was so pretty!! I also noticed that this was the only princess I think Ive met that actually didnt have false eyelashes on, they were all real, and I was seriously jealous! Lawls! The cast member took us over to our seats, and SURPRISE, we were over in that little nook that only has like, four tables in it, and actually sat at the exact same table that I had sat at back in 2011 when wed done breakfast here! WEIRD!

Our server, Sarah was over quickly and explained how everything worked, the cold appetizer buffet, then you pick an entrée and then the dessert plate comes out at the end. She was super amazing, and took a lot of time explaining the menu and what her suggestions and everything were, and then gave us time to think while we did a buffet run and she grabbed our drinks!

We both got the All Natural Lemonade topped with Wild berry Foam and man, that stuff is TASTY! The buffet is A Taste of Norway; a magnificent feast including sliced deli meats, seafood, and a grand selection of salads and cheeses

My buffet plate, starting at the top and going clockwise is; a roll, some cheese hidden under there, asparagus spears, two different types of salmon, some peel and eat shrimp with cocktail sauce and some salad. I enjoyed everything, the big hits were the asparagus and the shrimp, but it was annoying that I had to peel it, I just want to shove it all in my mouth! Lawl, first world problems.

Somewhere in there Sarah came back and took our orders, I had decided based on the decision that I didnt want to get the same thing as Paige, and the woman who had been sitting beside us at the parade the night before had suggested them!

The Seared Herb Dusted Beef Tips Seared beef tenderloin tips in while mushroom sauce, served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Paige had decided on the Tradition Kjottkake which means Norwegian Meatballs served with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and lingonberry sauce (this picture isnt mine, bahah, I totally forgot to take one)

They brought out the entrees super fast and I was nowhere done my plate of appetizers, dang peel shrimp, baha. Paige and I exchanged bites of each others food, and there was a clear winner between the two. The meatballs were absolutely amazing, and super flavorful and just YUM, the beef tips on the other hand, were super bland, and the sauce wasnt very good. The mashed potatoes were DELICIOUS though, the green beans were okay, nothing spectacular, but still good. I didnt complain at all but when Sarah came to check on us I asked her if I could get a side of the meatball sauce and she quickly brought it out to me.

Im pretty sure the reason I didnt like the tips were because they were just bland, it was just beef, kind boring, if Im going for steak type beef I want like, Le Cellier beef, BAHA! Im also spoiled with the whole Alberta Beef thing like, seriously, its amazing. The meatball sauce did help, and I wasnt too upset since I still had my GIANT appetizer plate to munch on! During all of our shenanigans we also had some very special visitors!

Cinderella was up first, and she was super pretty! She asked where we were from, and was super nice while chatting and getting pictures. When she moved on to the next table, I noticed, and pointed out to Paige, and under her blonde hair, you could see a little bit of red hair peeking out! It was seriously the like, most beautiful color of red!!

Aurora came by, I have no clue what we talked about, lawls, Paige and I did notice that she looked more like an Ariel to us, and I have it written down that her voice was a little weird. Maybe she was sick? Who knows. Next up, was our favorite!

She said that I had some lovely colors on today, and was super bubbily and into the character, yay! Shortly after Ariel stopped by, Sarah had bussed our plates and brought out the dessert platter:

The Desserts were: a little chocolate moussey cake, some rice pudding stuff, and a little apple crumble type thing. We both agreed that the chocolate one was the best, and the rice pudding was better left on the plate, baha! While I was taking a bite of the apple one, Snow White had just came into the little nook area our table was in, and I kid you not, I started choking on a piece of the apple. Not like, seriously, but hard core coughing and it wouldnt budge. I then started laughing, because I was choking on an apple around Snow White, and then started choking more because I was laughing, and then laughing at everything and it was just a MESS! A hilarious, DERPY, mess. We then decided that we were most certainly food drunk by this point.

It was enough that the Dad of the family beside us was making comments about how we were drunk, Paige couldnt pronounce Norwegian or something, and he assumed we had been out drinking around the World&nope&just derpy over here! Snow of course popped up in the middle of this and did ask if I was alright and as I continued laugh/choking I explained what was going on and why it was funny. She warned me to stick to the green ones in the future, as they were okay!

She was absolutely amazing, looked the part, sounded the part, and was skipping around the restaurant like she was in the woods, like, she would skip from table to table and was JUST PERFECT!

Akershus Score:
4/5
-The atmosphere in there was nice, its no CRT, but its still cool
-Liked having our own little nook of space
-Cold buffet has tons of options
-Meatballs were absolutely delicious
-Princesses were great!
-Service was amazing
-The Beef tips were a no go though, boourns.

Hahaha that Snow Whilte story is something that totally would've cracked me up too!

Had you ever eaten at Akershus before? It looks like it was really good! And that Belle was especially gorgeous. The food sounds better than I would have expected!

I'm joining in! So many delicious looking meals!

Glad you're here! We certainly did eat a lot, and it managed to be all delicious!

I was dying, it was a night of hilarity and food drunk, which you'll see when we get there TR wise lol.

I'd done breakfast there back on my first trip, and none of us liked it or thought it was worth the price. It's too pricey in my opinion for some waffles eggs and breakfast meat kinda thing. I'd rather eat at CRT for breakfast. I WAS HESI

Awwwww you had a great Snow White! That Cinderella was beautiful! (I can picute her as a red-head.)

We've been seated in that little nook area before as well. I like that it is out of the way and people are not seated right on top of you.

Other than the beef tips, choking on an apple, and people assuming you were drinking because you were giddy with excitement... sounds like a lovely experience. The desserts defiitely look like someone would have to fight me for those!

Oh, and Belle's new dress is so beautiful! :)

Haha, they were awesome!! I'm glad we had such amazing character luck this trip!!

I really like that nook, it's less crowded and sometimes you have more time/space to yourself, which is often nice for groups with no kids with them haha.

It was a great experience, even with the choking and the people thinking we were drinking, and I wasn't too upset with the beef tips, I mean, I did choose to order it haha! I love Belle's new dress! I will admit that at first I was not impressed with the redesigns, but after getting adjusted to them, and seeing them in person I've grown to really like them!

Paige and I were enjoying our morning at Animal Kingdom so far, and had ridden Everest a good four times in a row, when we started making our way over to FOTLK when we realized that our breakfast of granola bars wasn't holding up too well, so we stopped at Tamu Tamu!

Paige saw that they had French toast sticks, and figured she could really go for some right then, and I grabbed a little yogurt and granola and strawberry parfait!

Two angles for ya! We both really enjoyed our snacks, and thought they were a nice little snack to tide us over until lunch time came!

The parfait had the right ratio of granola to yogurt to fruit, and wasn't messy to mix up or anything, it was super yummy!

Paige liked her French Toast sticks, and I've had them before as well and they are pretty tasty, a nice little treat. I wouldn't say it's enough for an actual breakfast, but they're still nice!

Tamu Tamu Rating
5/5
-There was absolutely no line at the time we were there, the only wait was for the actual food, which means it's fresh!
-Food choices are great, there's lots of nice choices for snacks or small meals that you might not see elsewhere
-CM's were nice and super efficient with serving us

After our adventures in AK had come to an end, we talked about lunch and ended up over at Flame Tree, mainly as I had always wanted to eat there, and we had just come out of the Winnie the Pooh meet and greet! Paige and I took a look at the menu, and ended up both deciding on the same thing, the “Smoked Turkey Breast Sandwich” with cranberry mayonnaise and fresh fruit! I also got a Key Lime Mousse for dessert and we both grabbed waters, and a table to sit at around the corner!

The sandwiches were super delicious, not too loaded with bread, or the mayo, they were the perfect lunch for us! Nice and light, healthy and yummy! I was also super happy that they came with honeydew, as I can’t eat cantaloupe and that’s usually the fruit that comes with stuff. The Key Lime mousse was also great, it was another light dessert that didn’t make me feel too bad about having dessert, and wouldn’t be sitting in my stomach for the rest of the day, yay!

Flame Tree BBQ Review
5/5
-Food was delicious
-There’s a TON of seating near the restaurant
-Tons of different options, and you can get like, half a chicken or half rack of ribs!
-Service was quick and efficient
-A nice change in food in AK for QS

Smoked Turkey Breast Sandwich: $8.99
Key Lime Moussse: $3.79

Would we go again?: Definitely! It’s a nice change from some of the other “burger and fries” places that you find at Disney. It’s worth the cost, and I would like to try the ribs, if we hadn’t been going to an audition, it’s a sure thing I would’ve tried them, but we were both really impressed with the sandwiches!

Great updates! Loving Paige's hair when you dined at Akershus (I wish I could braid too! ::yes:: ) You both looked lovely for your meal with the princesses. :thumbsup2

Tamu Tamu has some great choices, your yogurt parfait looked delish!

So sad we haven't made it to Flame Tree yet. We usually go to Yak & Yeti for lunch and are usually gone before it's time for dinner. Maybe one day ...

Thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

DH had the ribs, he said they were REALLY good, but they didn't remove the membrane under the bones that they're supposed to remove. After he fixed that problem, he said they were delicious, he didn't have to say a word, I could see the delight on his face :p

Joining in over here and loving your reviews !!

Thanks!! Glad you're here!

Thanks!! Paige did it all herself, haha, I can't really braid at all. Thank you!!

It was super nice for a quick snack in the morning. I've done Yak and Yeti CS and TS and it's safe to say I won't be back for the CS, it was too saucy and I just didn't like it, TS I'll definitely go back though!! Flame tree was a great choice though!!

OMG flame tree was my favorite CS meal! Yummmmmm

It was super delish!! I will have to try the ribs next time!!

Paige and I’s next stop was the Polynesian!! I had wanted to do Spirit of Aloha for a while now, and she picked SoA between it and HDDR, which I have already done, so yay, it works for all of us. We made our way through the resort and followed the signs to check in for the Luau. They gave us a chit, leis, and lead us over to the spot where we got our photo taken. Then we were all clumped towards the entrance to the theater and there we waited, and waited, and it was getting chilly!! There is a bar while you wait, but why pay for booze outside the show when wine and beer is included.

After about I’d say, twenty minutes of waiting, we were let into the open air theatre, and showed to our seat. We were the second table back off to the stage left side of the theater, nice and close to the exit. The lady that sat us was super hilarious and made some comment about how Paige was crazy to be wearing shorts, but she did have tights on underneath.

Our server came by pretty quick with the appetizer platter and took a drink order. I did end up ordering an alcoholic drink that wasn’t “free” as the wine and beer they had didn’t sound too good!

The appetizers included pineapple coconut bread, mixed greens with mango poppy seed dressing, a noodle salad, and some apple coleslaw. They were all super tasty, the noodles won out for the best, and the bread was delicious! There wasn’t any butter on the table, which I found odd, and the bread could have been better with it, but hey, whatevs! The apple coleslaw had a sweeter taste to it, and it wasn’t drenched in dressing, which made it a winner as well!

Paige got some kind of strawberry lemonade (we’re guessing here) and I got the coconut drink. Yup, that coconut is my DRINK! It was super adorable, and a take home souvenir, and even said “have fun!” on the front of it. I don’t remember what was in it aside from a couple different kinds of rum and pineapple juice among other things, but it was definitely tasty!
We ate all of the noodles on the plate, and devoured the bread, and I ate most of the coleslaw, and before we knew it, it was time for dinner!

Starting on the left, we’ve got some roast turkey with gravy, some kind of potato/yam mixture of yumminess, some Polynesian rice, and then of course, roast chicken! This is all coming from memory as the menu isn’t updated in my app, and the website isn’t working right now. I enjoyed the yam potato mix, the rice, and definitely the turkey. The chicken was good, and not as greasy as I expected, but really, everything was so amazing!!

Some amazing food at Spirit of Aloha, but is it ever freezing! #disney #polynesian #dinnershow

Seriously, despite all the food, Paige and I were shivering in our seats! Luckily, Auntie soon came out to greet us and the show began!

The premise of the show is that it’s one girl’s goodbye party, as she’s going to the mainland for college (or something…) her boyfriend is there too. Then there’s the sporty girl, who her and the other friend are all “no, gross, we’re friends” and then it’s all “SURPRISE, SHE’S ACTUALLY SUPER HOT” when she takes off her baseball cap, ponytail and reveals that she can dance and is in a little luau outfit. What?! That never happens in movies. They also bring up everyone who’s celebrating a birthday, anniversary, etc.

The show’s split into three “acts” type of things, and the first two are SUPER slow, with a lot of random “story telling” and some audience participation. It’s also when the dessert is delivered! Dessert is little “chocolate mousse volcanoes” which were super tasty, and just when you think you’re finally done eating, the servers bring around warm chocolate chip cookies to finish everything off! Our server even brought us extra! GAWD.

Food drunk is officially a major part of this trip

Paige and I were having a great time and really enjoyed all the food, and were excited when the third act started and the actual dancing started to go on!

Aaaaand there’s the eye candy! Paige and I were both kind shocked when the guys came out that scantily clad, it was certainly the eyeful for everyone! After a bit of the dancing, there’s a BUNCH of fire dancing, that is SO IMPRESSIVE, and by far the best part of the show. It kinda sucks that it’s at the very end of everything, especially because it was so cold. During the little dessert break, our server had dropped off the bill, so once the fire dancing was done, Paige and I PEACED right out of there. It was freezing. I made the call that I was too tired to wait on Disney transportation, and we got in a cab back to Pop.

Our thoughts on Spirit of Aloha: we’d go again just for the food. That being said, Ohana would probably cover it. The food was all absolutely amazing and we enjoyed every bite we ate. The show however, was SUPER slow and took forever to get to the good stuff, and with it being so cold, we just didn’t want to have to wait it out anymore.
