The OLD Tusker House at Animal Kingdom was by far my favorite counter restaurant with decent prices before disney world turned it into another overpriced, stuff your face, obesity factory. It's been about three years since last visit. Is there any counter restaurants like the OLD Tusker House left at DW with food at the same quality level?

I don't think so. I, too, remember and miss the old Tusker House! We just don't eat counter service anymore, and if we do, we have our expectations set very, very low. (There are a couple of quick service places at DTD - Earl of Sandwich, for one - that are pretty good, but they aren't Disney-operated and aren't in parks, so I tend not to count them when I think of "counter service.")

If we DO eat counter service in the parks, it's usually Columbia Harbor House, Flame Tree BBQ or the fish & chips place in the UK pavilion at Epcot. I'm looking forward to the new counter service in Mexico...and I did have a tasty egg roll (well, 1 bite of a friend's) from the quick service place in China, but nothing else. Those seem like the cream of the crop to me, but sadly not as good as old Tusker House.

Columbia Harbor House, Flame Tree BBQ

Two of our favourites. I loved the sandwiches at CHH and the pulled pork one at Flame Tree BBQ.

It's such a shame that Tusker House is no longer as it was. The last time we were in WDW was 2007 and DD17 still remembers the salmon and beans meal. We had the 'what would your last meal on earth be?' discussion only last week and yep, it's the salmon one :(

Nope, it was always a must eat for us! However across the "street" from Tuskerhouse the sandwiches were very good. I think its Tamu refreshments. Dd had a HUGE turkey sandwich that she loved with a milk shake. She liked it better than anything else we have found in AK recently.

Tamu Tamu refreshments. :)They operate on a slightly different schedule to the rest of the park but if you can get them when they are open it's a great stop. Simple menu but really good quality food.

RIP old Tusker House, killed by the dining plan, he leaves behind to mourn his passing all his fans. I sure miss the old place. :guilty:

The only counter service that I think comes close is Sunshine Seasons in Epcot's Future World.
