Morning all--

I know that we have raised Ross to be a kind and sharing child, BUT he did not have to go so far as to share his cold with me,lol...yep I woke up with it this morning...blah! I am heading back to bed now that he is off to school.

Hope you get to feeling better. Hailey shared hers with me. I'm just back from the doctor after trying to deny for the past three days that I was getting sick (you know, it isn't real unless you acknowledge it). Anyway, I have bronchitis and have to pick up my prescription in an hour or so.

No, I did not make it all the way to the panel. I was booted out after the second round. We did have 6 DISers make it though. The entire things was a blast and I would do it again. My family really thinks I'm a Disney nerd now!

Aren't we all Disney nerds here?

I'm starting to think this thread is spreading germs!:scared1:
:lmao: :lmao:

Dinner tonight is kind of up in the air. It's Jacob's birthday and he requested teriyaki salmon. That's fine with me, however, Leslie woke up this morning with a very high fever, so I don't know if I'll be able to get to the store to pick up the salmon. So, I may have to do the salmon another night, and go with spaghetti instead. Hopefully, Jacob will be understanding. We are going to have birthday cake, and Alan will pick up some ice cream on his way home.

Happy Birthday to Jacob! I'm sure he will be understanding about the salmon. I hope since you didn't mention feeling poorly that you are better.

A Cabela's just opened less than 10 minutes from our house at the beginning of October! Needless to say DH was like a kid at Christmas. He had the big Cabelas catalog out everynight for a week. I'm not sure if he was checking prices to see if they would be the same in the store, or just making a really BIG list! We were there twice opening weekend. It is across the highway from a newly expanded outlet mall, so I guess it's only fair we give the guys equal time! The kids did get a kick out of all the exotic wildlife displays.

Hope everyone kicks the crud that seems to be making its way around. Off to wash my hands.....;) :rotfl:

We don't have a Cabela's near us. Patrick (DS) isn't really a shopper, but I would probably have to have a crowbar and some TNT to get him out of there. The last catalog he received was dog-eared from hours upon hours of wishful longing.

I have leftovers from the pot roast the other night that I am considering turning into a shepherd's pie...I really can't explain why I feel like doing this because shepherd's pie reminds me of my grade school cafeteria.

:lmao: :lmao:
Maybe you're just having childhood flashbacks. ;)

I have no idea what we are doing for dinner tonight. The meatballs last night were good, but I cooked them too long and I didn't care for the sauce. Next time, less time in the oven and a different gravy.

Tonight was supposed to be a peanut chicken with fettucine. We'll see if I'm up to it or if I can convince Kenny I'm just too weak to cook. ;)

The social worker visit went well yesterday. She was nice once she got here and actually had some autism knowledge which is a welcome change from most of the state employees I've had to deal with. She asked intelligent questions and was complimentary of Hailey's therapy programs. She was surprised that an autistic child with DD's current functioning level could be so social and fit into a family unit. She said most of the children she sees at that level are tearing the families apart because their behaviors are so difficult to manage. I told her that DD had been receiving therapy for almost 8 years. At the end of the meeting she said that it was a shame that all the autistic children couldn't receive similar therapy.

Have a great day everyone.

Gretchen

Now you're sick too????? This thread is infested!!!:rotfl2:

I'm so happy things went well with the social worker yesterday. You are very blessed to have the quality therapists that you have. I can't wait to meet Hailey!!

Welcome Julie! :cool1:

Tonight we are going out for mexican with a bunch of friends to celebrate someone's birthday. I keep teetering back and forth on whether to go but it's really important to DH that I go... I've got myself so stressed about Sun that my Crohns is starting to flare =( We are doubling the steroids and my immune suppressant to hold it at bay until after the weekend. I see the doc Tues so we'll see what else I need to do. So FRUSTRATING!!!! We are going to split something as I can't eat much right now. DH thinks that hanging out with friends will get my mind off it for awhile, though it also means missing Ugly Betty and Greys

I was OOT in a meeting most of the day but opted to come home instead of into the office when I finished. I need a break to rest a little at home - of course my cell rang every 20 min anyways  So many things to get done before Sun.

Thanks for the welcome, have fun eating your mexican food. I see your from Tx also where you guys going? We've found some really good family owned places lately and they are great, we really like the fact that there's not much of a wait and since we have 3 kidos that's a plus. Hope you feel better soon.
Julie

Hi Y'all,

No cooking here today. Still feeling funky. Bob's bringing home a muffaletta for dinner.

Thanks everyone for the nice words about my sweet DH & for me cooking for him! Y'all are all so sweet!:goodvibes

Sorry that everyone here seems to be getting sick! Are we spreading it?;)

Gretchen, Really sorry to hear you've got it now too. :sad1: Glad that the social worker's visit went well after all.

Stephanie, Strep is bad, but I'd say it's better than the flu. The meds usually work for it. Hope they work for you really quickly!

Welcome Julie! :goodvibes We can always use another Southern gal on our thread! (one of my best cajun recipes came from one of your neighbors, TxTink!)

Here's something good I want to share with y'all! A lot has happened this week on the bathroom, the tile is going up & much quicker than I thought it would! It's looking better than I could have imagined!

Have a good evening friends!

Hello everyone I missed you all. I been battling my computer. My virus protection and my firewall was preventing me from emailing. I hate not being able to figure things out. I had to resort to the Help menu on the computer which is only helpful if you know what you are doing in the first place.

Alex left his cold hanging around and I must have picked it up. I'm afraid I'm joining the sickies. :confused3

Tonight we are having a bertolli and garlic bread night. I think a hot bath and a hot toddy are also on the menu ;)

I've got myself so stressed about Sun that my Crohns is starting to flare it also means missing Ugly Betty and Greys

We are here for you Aimee, you're going to do fine. I don't watch Ugly Betty, but I'll be watching Grey's....:cloud9:

Oh Janice, you poor thing, it's one thing to be sick but right after battling computer problems....:crazy2: Get well soon!!!!!

The viruses are spreading way too fast here!

Gretchen- I am so glad the visit went well. I almost wish I did not wish the bug on the SW

Sheryl- Your tile work looks great! Glad that it is going so well.

Aimee- You know that your biggest fans are sending plenty of :wizard: your way. I know you are going to be fine.

Janice What Kathy said! Computer problems and the flu :scared:

Glynis- Happy Birthday to Jacob! I hope little Leslie's fever goes down .

I did not end up cooking. Marisa and family were not home (Kady is trying a sleepover again as there is no school tomorrow. Please keep your fingers crossed, she really wants to make it all night this time :thumbsup2), and Buddy just got in so we had sandwiches with the leftovers we had in the house. I just could not get from eating out mode to cooking mode :upsidedow

Hey all! Feeling MUCH better today. It's amazing what 2 days of antibiotics will do for a body. I actually cooked tonight--nothing jaw-dropping (not that my cooking normally is). We had chili with cornbread muffins. Good comfort food. DS did have a nice bday last night. We had store bought cupcakes and put his bday present together. Here are a few pics.

WFD tonight....Hmmm...leftover buffet....chili & cornbread, chicken & sausage jambalaya, or Glynis' crockpot Chicken & Dumplings.

Glynis - I did have a question about your Chx & Dumpling recipe. If I recall, it called for 2 cans of refrigerator biscuits. What size can do you use? I doubled the recipe you had posted, but only used 1 can of the smaller size biscuits (I think 10/can).

Hope everyone kicks the crud that seems to be making its way around. Off to wash my hands.....;) :rotfl:

I usually use just one can of 10 biscuits. I would like to use more, but Alan doesn't like dumplings. Silly man!

Gretchen

Well, I did end up getting salmon! I just can't disappoint Jacob! He's my little sweetie, and I know the days of his allowing me to cuddle him are quicky coming to an end. So, it's marinating in the teriyaki sauce, and I'll broil it in about a half an hour. The rice is cooking, and the broccoli is ready to steam. We've got a chocolate cake and chocolate/peanut butter ice cream. The kid is going to be in hog heaven!

I am feeling a lot better today. I still have a cough, but it's not too bad! Alan has the bad cold, now, but he says that he feels better than yesterday.

Julie -- That's funny about the Little House on the Prairie style. My kids call it a "Help Yourself Dinner." Caili would like it even better if I called it Little House dinner. She loves those books.

Gretchen -- If you had eaten in my grade school cafeteria, you would understand the aversion to shepherd's pie.

However, I have to say that my version tonight was really tasty, satisfying, and super easy. I just shredded the leftover potroast, poured the leftover gravy on top, put a layer of vegetables in the middle (okay, tonight it was just frozen corn, but a layer of vegetables sounds much better) and topped with the leftover mashed potatoes. I usually have no idea what to do with leftover pot roast, but I would definitely make this again.

You are going to be just fine! Just keep telling yourself that, and remember that we all believe in you!

I am in Ft Worth - we went to La Playa Maya tonight. Not my favorite but it was good. Live music and all you can eat chips is never bad =) Wish I could have had a mojito! Where are y'all located?

Stephanie- Gosh, he is so cute! The Nana in me want to snuggle him up!

Glynis- good to know that you are better today, and that Jacob was happy with his birthday meal. You are right, once boys reach "that" age their cuddling is over. I think I scarred Daniel for life with my attempted guilt when he stopped wanting to keep me company in the kitchen and decorating for Holidays. I am still lost. Not really but I was awful for a few years whn they all went off on their own :sad1:

Laura- I had cafeteria food yesterday and I was still feeling the pain at bedtime last night :scared:. I had lunch with Kady after I helped in the classroom and had the worst hamburger I have ever had in my life! She told her Mom that it was the best burger....even better than Nana's:confused3

I'll figure out dinner when I hear my DH schedule. He was late last night and he generally puts in a long day on Friday.

Thursday night we had some flatbread pizas. This one is butternut squash and feta cheese, and the one you can sort of see to the right is roasted pepper and portobello mushroom:

Last night DH was back from Florida, yippee! I made cheddar-beer soup, and served it with a salad with pomegranate seeds and a baguette with emmenthaler, proscuitto, and cultured butter (no proscuitto in mine!):

Not sure wfd yet...

We are down in Houston. Love the schnauzer, we just got one. In fact, we are trying to find someone to watch her while we are in DL at the end of the month.
No, dinner for us tonight. DH and I are attending a Gala for our girls' school. The kids will get....Uh.....frozen pizza. Maybe I'll be nice to my MIL (who is babysitting) and order her a deluxe.
Take care,
Julie

Good morning ladies!!

It's my night off from the kitchen, will probably do take-out.

I've got some errands to run, hoping the proofs for Kyle's "casual" senior pics are ready. It's going to be very hard to choose, there's over 60 pics.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!
