Glynis - The pictures are lovely. The kiddos look like they had a blast!!

They did! Unfortunately, my Katie spent at least 6 hours every day in the water. She did sunscreen, and reapplied every hour, but she still burned badly. She got heat stroke on our last day there. It was so bad! She was throwing up, and even the whites of her eyes were burned! Poor kiddo! She's doing better now, but her face blistered badly, and she's now peeling!

Oh I forgot to say, welcome back Glynis. It looks like you had a great spot, and your children are beautiful!

Aw, thanks! I think my kids are pretty great! (I should, it took us a tremendous amount of money and effort to get them here!)

I think your son and daughter are just adorable, too! Is it just me, or are the DIS kids the most wonderful in the world????

Gina - Welcome!

Glynis - Glad you had a good time. Your children are precious.

Dinner tonight turned out fine. However, my fridge seems to be acting up again. DH had an appliance company "fix" it last week. He is tinkering with it now. I hope we can ressurect it one last time.

Thanks! I'll keep 'em!

Tonight it's leftover black bean chili and cornbread.

WFD at your house?

Poor baby, glad she's doing better now.

WFD - Mexican Chicken, rice and refried beans!!

i am a little late here, but i just went to our town's fireman's fundraiser/parade this weekend too! My boyfriend is a FF in the neighboring town so he actually drove in the parade this year. Our carnival is called " Kid's Day" and we had the BEST fireworks this year...not quite " wishes" caliber..but def. up there. :goodvibes

FIrst Welcome to the WFD thread. You are in the right place if you want plenty of menu ideas, we have some fantastic home cooks here as well as a few whose plates are 5* restaurant caliber. Check out page one, Lindsay keeps it updated with the recipes and page numbers.

DOn't worry about commenting "late" I am always finding things I want to respond to but missed the first time around.

Glad that you enjoyed your carnival. My Dh was a firefighter for so many years and my brother as well, so we went to parades all summer long. We did notice that the number of marchers has decreased over the years with many departments sending trucks only, but I guess that that is a sign of the times, everyone is so busy. East Windsor is next so DD is going with her family and dragging her poor DH who can only stand so much of "a good thing". I donlt know if we will go to watch my DH two nephews march. His oldest is now in college majoring in arson investigation.

Hello everyone...
i can't believe i just found this thread...this is great for me because

I am going to visit my mom today and do some errands and we will grab a bite to eat.

have a great day!

liamsaunt Glad you didn't get sick. Course maybe your doctors can write a note for you for next time. Please excuse ______ from dinner she is on a very special diet. She is "allergic";)

Is there a smilie for that? If not there should be. I won't even tell you how long DH tried to keep our stove and fridge running when all they wanted to do was die in peace. :headache:

Geez--ya'll were sure chatty yesterday--had a page and a half to catch up on since I was last on here.

The mac and cheese and derby pie were yummo last night. DH was like this :cool1: when he saw the pie. He has a huge weakness for chocolate, glad I could feed the addiction;) Tonight I am making the Lemon Roasted Crockpot Chicken that Kathy posted a while back and some Stove Top (gotta be easy today)

Glynis--Welcome back. Love the pics!

MApigletfan--Welcome! This is definitely another DIS thread to get addicted too--think it has something to do with the food porn!

Okay, gotta run--try not to chat too much today, all-right???;)

Welcome, BTW.

Tonight's dinner is HRH the Queen of Easy's Royal Chicken. However, I'm thinking of separating it into two batches - the regular way with the whipping cream for Kenny, and a lighter version with fat free half and half for me. I thought of making the entire dinner lighter, but I know Kenny wouldn't like it that way. :sad2: Steamed veggies on the side for us.

Between Kenny and the therapists, they have managed to eat over half of the cake I made on Sunday. I'm sure it will be gone by tomorrow afternoon at the latest. When I got home yesterday, the afternoon girl put in her order for another cake when this one is gone. I feel like they are my kids too and this is the girl who got me a Mother's Day card and flowers this year, so I guess she feels like part of the family too. :)

Aww that is so sweet. I forgot to tell you yesterday that this is a very similiar recipe that my cousin makes...she calls in Poor Man's Napoleon. It really is yummy and I would find it very hard to resist!!!

I logged in on SIL laptop and did not realize that I posted under his user ID. Sorry Jeff :guilty:

What a nice girl you have coming to your home. It must be a relief that the therapists are like family, enough so that you get cake requests :thumbsup2

Nancy........just how many of your family members feel the need to supervise your DISing? There's more screennames in that house than Sybil!:lmao:

Welcome! That salad sounds fantastic! We don't eat enough salad in my house, mostly because we seem to let it all go bad before we eat it =( I need to get better about that, esp now that it's hot outside and salads are nice and light.

If you try the chicken/hashbrown recipe, let me know what you thought!

I did make that chicken hashbrown recipe last night..Greg ( my boyfriend ) said it was really good.. I didn't have any yet, ( on WW so i stuck with a WW recipe Caesar salad and a toasted piece of garlic boule with a little evoo on it..YUM)..but i will be having some for lunch today or tommorow :)

I had a sliver so thin you could almost see through it on Sunday. As my late grandfather would have said, I cut the flavor right out of it. I just wanted that one piece and I really haven't had such a difficult time with the cake. I like dessert, don't get me wrong, but my snack problem is more of the chips/nuts variety.

It really is a relief. Kenny and I feel like the happier the girls are the better. And when you add into the mix DD can't talk, it is very comforting to know they really love her and do feel like a part of the family. The three of them are all planning on going with us to Disney in November and they are now negotiating amongst themselves who gets to go to which restaurant. Not that I blame them, the food is a large part of my enjoyment too.

I hope you guys enjoy it! How wonderful to have such an awesome group of therapists.

I sat here at work for the longest time trying to figure out who JeffM was just barging in and making himself comfortable with us. Then I saw that He posted about his DH and I really started to worry. You got me Nancy!!:lmao: :lmao:

I wanted to say that it looked like you all had a great time and that your kids are so cute, and they are adorable, but now poor baby. She is so fair the sun must just be awful to her.

I kept telling her that she needed to take some time out of the water; to spend some time in the shade, but she just wanted to keep going. I figure, at 10 years old, she needs to learn to police herself with this. I sympathize, and spread aloe, and try not to say, "I told you so."

The other kids burned, too, but not nearly as bad as Katie.

Dinner tonight is up in the air. It all depends on the weather. It's supposed to be cloudy and windy with thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Lately, though, the weather reports have been less than reliable. If it doesn't rain, we'll grill teriyaki turkey burgers. If it rains, we'll use up the rest of the turkey roast in a baked turkey divan casserole. I really don't want to heat up the house, but I need to use up the turkey.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I have to remember that one!

What a great way to go to Disney! My sister used to take Marisa on her trips and it was a win win for everyone. Marisa got to go on extra vacations, my sister had help and the ids loved having her there. I imagine your DD will have that much more fun with the girls who work with her along. I am with them in the restaurants...I plan them first :thumbsup2

He worries me as well, Kathy :rotfl2:

Hey y'all,

Feeling really out of sorts today. We had a very disturbing incident yesterday. We had police surrounding the house across the street from me starting around 4 yesterday. Apparently the guy who lives there was holding his girlfriend or wife & another woman with 3 kids. They are renters & I don't know them at all. The police came to my back door & asked me for info on them. I was able to give them the owners name & phone #. Then the police told us to stay in the back of my house! I peeked outside & there were about 20 officers, 10 cars & canines outside. The officers were crouched behind the cars with guns drawn!!! :scared: When they wouldn't allow DH to come home & I asked if we could leave. Just as we started to drive out of the neighborhood we could see something happening. So we waited a block away with the rest of the neighborhood. They had the guy on the ground with guns pointed at him!! After we returned home, the officer came by to thank me for the info, but couldn't tell us much more. Just that it was a domestic issue, he would be arrested & further charges would come from "things" found in the house. He couldn't tell us if the guy had a gun or not. I hope they found something that keeps him in jail, but my guess is he'll be back there in a couple of days. I still just can't believe this happened right across the street from me. I don't know how long he was holding them, if he had a gun, etc. etc. Crazy Scary!! I doubt the owner will evict them either, as long as she gets her rent she doesn't care about the neighborhood..

Don't know what's for dinner, I'm just so weirded out by all of this!
