Tonight is my husband's monthly Geek Meeting so I am on my own tonight. I probably will just have a can of soup.

WFD at your house?

Oh my, I missed a lot yesterday!

Sandy- I laughed when you forgot to post dinner, I am usually talking so much I forget that this is a dinner thread :confused3

OceanAnnie- I would love your recipe for the dump cake. I like to tinker with recipes as well.

Sheryl- I loved Sandy's birthday greeting to our Queen also. I broke open my little, and I mean little, bottle of Rosa last night to celebrate and it was amazing. My sis and I each had 1/2 of a glass. I told you it was small. I am taking the bottle to the guy I like to buy wine from, he said he would get it for me...we can't find it here.

Laura- I think I have affectionately referred to the two of you as the Liams Family.

Dislifer- I am in CT also, and it is hot here!

MinnieM21-

Becky- I hope that you and your DH feel better soon. This cold has been with you for a while now.

Minnie never be sorry you try to do something for love or otherwise. The great disappointment in life is not trying and having the "what if's". So sorry your adventure didn't turn out well this time. Your pictures are amazing.

I got a late start this morning I'll be back later. Hopefully work is better than yesterday. Too many crabbies. Oh by the way I work with Medical/dental claims, not a very popular job right behind the IRS.:rotfl:

Dinner last night was very good. Marisa's crostini were stellar! She always makes them, they don't come out the same when I make them, and it was fun to watch my sister's boys enjoy them. We also had some crusty bread to dip in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. My nephew could not get enough.

DSIL grilled the meat to perfection once again, and this was with a shabby grill. I am going to need to break down and invest in a new one, but I want one with all of the bells ands whistles, so DH is almost in a coma thinking about it :rotfl2:. He is a man who likes his dinner though so..............

Dessert was also good.

DH was worried we would not have enough food so I cooked more, now we have a lot left over so that is what we are having tonight. He even pleaded with everyone to eat more so he would not lose a bet. DD is now $5 richer :rotfl:

Honestly, thanks for all of the well wishes for my family. I have not seen Timmy in 2 years so having him and Chris here together was one of my happiest days.

Hi Nancy,

I got the recipe from recipezaar. It's really good and so easy! With that said, I goofed it somewhat. :upsidedow I didn't see that the recipe called for 2 (!) 21 oz. cans of pie filling. I used about 7 fresh peaches. LOL. Luckily we really like the cakey part. Still very tasty even with rather sparse peaches. (I saw my snafu when I was "sprinkling" the cake mix on top. Way disproportionate.) Anyway, I sprinkled brown sugar over the peaches and was looking for some more spices. Couldn't find them quick enough so I used pumkin pie spice. LOL. What the heck. It had everything I was looking for. Tasted great. I put strawberry cheesecake ice cream on top of it, while it was warm. It was one of those, "I have to enjoy this alone.", moments Paula Deen talks about. It was that good!

Cake Mix Cobbler

1¼ hours 10 min prep

2 (21 ounce) cans pie filling
1 cup margarine, melted
18 ounces yellow cake mix or white cake mix

Spread 2 cans any flavor pie filling in bottom of 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle with cake mix. Pour melted margarine over the cake mix. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes. Top with Cook Whip or whipping cream if desired.

I hope you had a wonderful day, I know it is hard not having your boy with you, but I know that his phone call was such a great gift to you today!! I had a toast to you at supper tonight, Kris and Ross raised their glasses as well....what can I say my "boys" are good sports to my oddness :rotfl:

Dinner tonight was made 100% by Ross..

Thanks for the family toast, :thumbsup2 to your guys for understanding our oddness!!!

I am very impressed by Ross making tacos, that's awesome!!!!:goodvibes

Thanks for celebrating with me, isn't that Rosa amazing?:cloud9:

:rotfl2: Thinking about poor Buddy! I'm so happy you had such a wonderful day having them both together!!:goodvibes

Now WFD - I didn't plan this but we're having Royal Baked Chicken(mushrooms & artichokes), pasta & green beans!

Have a great day everyone!

Recipezaar is my favorite site. I like all of the reviews. I totally understand your "snafu" that is how I read recipes, to my family's dismay.

As to dinner.....it sounds like a meal fit for ROYALTY :thumbsup2

i saw a recipe page 494 for lemon icing ? i make a good lemon cake but wouldn't mind trying a new lemon cake recipe too. being new here I can't seem to find out ? looked about an hour. if someone knows how to point me in the direction to find it / i'd be very grateful.

i am also searcing for a recipe for those carrot walnut mini bundt cakes they sell at panera bread ? they only make two a day and i seem to arrive to late to score one every day !

any help greatly appreciated. thanks.

Welcome to the dinner thread!

If you go to page 1, Lindsay keeps all of the recipes updated with their appropriate page number. I still don't know how to use the "find" feature, so I just scan the list. If KadysMom is here today she can show you, she does it for me.

I like Glynis' warm winter lemon cake posted on page 335. It is super easy with a lemony cake that forms on top of a lovely lemon pudding. Although the directions say to serve it warm, my family likes it even better the next day.

MinnieM21 posted a Lemon yogurt cake on page 390 that she said was very good.

Morning all! I've been in a tired funk the past couple of days, so dinner last night was less than stellar. My mood paired with the flood we had yesterday (4 inches of rain) made for a grumpy me. I went to the store and stocked up on soups, for some strange reason, so we had a cheeseburger mac made with cheddar cheese soup last night. HOping the rain will hold off this afternoon long enough for me to grill some burgers. I have a craving for a big juicy burger, and that's odd for me--if I didn't know any better, with the moodiness and cravings I would think I was preggers.;)

Kathy--sounds like you had a wonderful bday--is your "Royal" recipe posted here? Sounds yummy!

Hi guys. We are having Andrew's fav tonight. Sausage, Shells and Peas served with salad and bread. Laura got me craving peas and pasta. This is an easy one to make as well.

I don't know if I'll make them again due to the time thing - maybe for company =)
They were delicious, though!

I love cooking but hate doing the dishes and clean up as well. Maybe that is why my house is always in disarray (sp).

I spent the day taking care of my grandmother as we had her yearly evaluation for home care and then I had to take her to get her stitches checked and some more X-rays, after that I took her for some lunch and brought her home. Ross and I then ran a ton of errands to get things ready for his karate boot camp this weekend.

I even have the japanese symbol for Queen tattoo'd on me....Kris has King......uh oh...I have just revealed my wild side to you all..:upsidedow

Gretchen- you and Lauren are the Cat Whisperers.....that is great that you are taking care of them!!:cat:

Lauren--I hope that things are "OK" for you health wise....I am sure you are getting worried and a bit frustrated at this point as well. We are all here for you!! Prayers said for you and  too!!

Dinner tonight was made 100% by Ross...

Still praying for your Mom and Grandma.

I love the cats. As soon as I opened the garage door this morning, Midnight walked in. She is a really friendly and FIXED :) cat. I wish Tom didn't have allergies or she would be inside with us.

Thank you for your prayers. Yeah, I am pretty freaked out. I go for another test tomorrow and Thurs. Tom and I googled the heck out of what the doctor told me and hopefully it is something that can be controlled with pills. :sad1:

Sheryl- I loved Sandy's birthday greeting to our Queen also. I broke open my little, and I mean little, bottle of Rosa last night to celebrate and it was amazing. My sis and I each had 1/2 of a glass. I told you it was small. I am taking the bottle to the guy I like to buy wine from, he said he would get it for me...we can't find it here.

I think we are going to VT in the next couple weeks. Would you like a delivery? :)

It really sounds like Tom and Buddy get into that same coma once in a while.

I am so glad you got to see Timmie and Chris. Prayers continue for them.

I hope you feel better. Keep us posted.

Morning Y'all,

Didn't do any cooking last night, DH brought home a muffaletta for dinner. Mmm-mm.

Tonight :confused3 don't know~

Wendie, So you are a wild child uh?!;) I think it's great Ross cooked the whole thing! Prayers here:flower3: for your grandma!

Lauren, I know you must be really starting to worry now! Saying some prayers for you friend that everything will turn out fine!

MinnieM21- Don't ever feel embarrassed to vent with us. We all have our problems & understand! AND your food looks awesome! Love the lemon meringue, so pretty!

Becky, Hope you & DH feel better soon!

Nancy, That was very nice of you to share that itty bitty bottle of Rosa! You're much more generous than I would have been. Hope your wine guy finds some big bottles of it very soon! :goodvibes

Hersey, That job can really get to you after awhile! :scared: I handled claims for a small HMO whose method of payment was to do everything possible to avoid payment!!! And I had to take the phone calls from the patients! Yeah that job lasted about a year.

Kathy, How'd that ROYAL Chicken turn out!

Aimeedyan, I know what you mean there are many recipes I'll try, I'm really into it when doing the cooking, then get done & suddenly notice the disaster zone I've just turned my kitchen into!!:scared: What I wouldn't pay to have someone else come in to clean up after me!

LKHomemail, Welcome to our thread! I can't help you on the baking stuff, but I know we have some good ones here. Your post probably didn't get notice by our bakers yet, so I'll mentioned again that you were looking for pineapple cake recipes & Carrot-Walnut mini bundt cakes!

Y'all have a good one!
Sheryl

Oh, I have always wanted to try Muffaletta....I have to come visit!!!

Thanks for the prayers. I always think the worst and I always get sympathy pains. :confused3 The doctor was pressing on my neck and told me my pituitary hormones are off so now I have a sore throat and a stuffy nose (that is kinda where the pituitary is). Go figure.

Tom thinks he has diagnosed me, with Googled help, with Hashimoto's...we'll see in a couple weeks.

Lauren, I went google that. Sounds like one of those things, where they get you all worried, run you through all kinds of unpleasant tests & then tell you "Well, it might be blah-blah-blah, but we'll just have to keep an eye on it and run some periodic tests."!!!! Which I know is a lot better than having a serious illness but a total pain is the rear, none the less! I hope it is nothing to worry about & they are just checking stuff out. And QUIT pressing on your neck! ;) hang in there, girlfriend!! :goodvibes

p.s. Come on down! The only place to get the "Real" Muffaletta is here with your NOLA pals!

Another somewhat busy day here again....I have to get my grandmothers groceries today and then take them down to her etc. Stop at the local theater and pay for week one of Ross' theater camp that starts in 2 weeks. (day camp from 9-4). Then Ross has karate tonight from 5-8pm and I will go get my nails and toes done then,lol...that is my kind of multitasking!!

Dinner tonight will be nothing great, as Ross will eat a bit before karate, and a bit after, and his fav thing is a box of mac and shells on these night with cukes on the side, so I will have a lean cuisine, and Kris has to work late so he will grab a bowl of cereal when he does get home.....pretty gourmet of us huh?!!?

Lauren-I like Tom's style,I always google everything and end up knowing what it is before the Dr tells me.....I will pray that it turns out to be something very simple and hopefully nothing at all. Keep us posted on it all and know we are all here for you!!

Stephanie- I hope that you can shake your funk soon....I think we all end up there now and then.....if you need to talk we are all great at listening and sending hugs your way!!!

Nancy- I am so very happy that you all had such a wonderful time last night!!! I am sure you slept with a warm heart after seeing the boys!!!
Isn't the Rosa gooooooood?!!? For being in the middle of nowhere Maine, the next town over actually has a great wine store and I can always get a bottle or 5 there!!
picturing Buddy trying to get everyone to eat more had me cracking up today!!

Kathy- I would expect all of your meals to be for Royalty.....after all you are the "QUEEN".....no matter what it is for a recipe, you must now always stick a royal name in front of it........

Anyone know where Lori has been lately??? I miss her boas and magic shell....

I could never forget Alex. I have nose imprints in my back. He follows so close behind me. When the two of us went for our first disney vac I was a nervous wreck I bought another cell phone in case we where ever separated.
We never did get separated but I still tell him were to meet me after using the restrooms.
I do this with Rick. I don't know how we'd ever keep up with a child. I was lucky that StepS Nick was almost 16 by the time I was introduced.

I had to share this with y'all - I cannot go to the grocery store without giggling when I pass the Magic Shell. I just did it again:lmao:

Lori - Where are you? I can't help thinking about Rick when i see it!:rotfl2:
I'll make sure to pass on to Rick that he gave you a thrill on your birthday!:lmao: He'll think that's hysterical....right up there with "Are you Kathy? NO! Are you Kathy?":rotfl2:

Rick's been home since 7/3 PM so I've taken some time off from the store-and that's where the computer is....so ya'll understand. We went to Biloxi, MS for a couple of nights to get away (and try our hand at the casino buffet on the diet). The Hard Rock casino in Biloxi opened 7/5. It was supposed to open 9/1/05. Big K hit 8/29. It's really neat to wander around- they have a display with some of the memorabilia they found after and the pictures.

While we were there I got the call that my Gram's prolly has 30 days or so to live so I'm trying to get things worked out here for the store, Wanna B, Rick, etc so I can head up there. NOT looking forward to it. Kathy, I understand completely now. This is the woman who raised me(my mom died when I was 6) and I don't want her to go, but yes I do- I know she's miserable and doesn't want this.

Gretchen..........Down 12lbs as of today (about 3 weeks):woohoo: You've been elected as diet buddy-so I had to let you know! And I've almost dropped a size- the next size down is a little tight still but I can button and zip if I don't try to breathe real hard.

My days at home I've been re-working some of our favorites. I think I've gotten low-cal low-fat "fried" green tomatoes worked out. Lower fat grilled cheese. And lowfat croutons(Rick missed those ALOT). Last night I made a low fat take on our favorite Morton's salads- and we feasted on those.

Thanks for wondering where I've been. It makes me glow to know I was missed. I missed talking to ya'll too. Especially after going throught the bajillion million pages that I missed!

Morning all! I've been in a tired funk the past couple of days, so dinner last night was less than stellar.
Kathy--sounds like you had a wonderful bday--is your "Royal" recipe posted here? Sounds yummy!

I hope you shake the blues soon.:hippie: I'll post the chicken recipe - it's very good!

:cheer2: I can't believe I did it:banana:

Practice, practice!!:rotfl:

Kathy, How'd that ROYAL Chicken turn out!
That's tonight - it always comes out good and so EASY!:rotfl2:

Thanks for the prayers. I always think the worst and I always get sympathy pains. :confused3 The doctor was pressing on my neck and told me my pituitary hormones are off so now I have a sore throat and a stuffy nose (that is kinda where the pituitary is). Go figure.

Tom thinks he has diagnosed me, with Googled help, with Hashimoto's...we'll see in a couple weeks.

I googled it too and I agree with Sheryl, I think it will probably be a long testing process and hopefully it will be controlled by meds. Hang in there honey. I used to google every symptom my poor dad had and I had him diagnosed incorrectly a lot of times, don't believe everything that's on the internet. I'll be keeping you in my prayers throughout this.

Kathy- I would expect all of your meals to be for Royalty.....after all you are the "QUEEN".....no matter what it is for a recipe, you must now always stick a royal name in front of it........
:thumbsup2 Even if it's hot dogs - they'll be "Royal" dogs.:rotfl:

It's very difficult to let go Lori, but believe me you will be able to do this. I'm here for you every step of the way.

Lauren- I know it is easy to say, but try not to worry. I agree that the tests and the questions are scary, but I honestly believe that stress is a huge factor on any situation, and you have been under an enormous amount. :grouphug: Saying some prayers.

Wendie- How is your Grandma doing? I imagine she doesn't complain much, "tough old girl" that she is, but that she does enjoy your company even more than usual.

Kathy- you are right about the internet making symptoms much worse!

Lori- I don't have many words, but I also understand how you feel. I stopped knowing what to ask for and just left it in His hands. What I wanted and what my Mom wanted were two different things. Saying prayers for your Grams and your family. :grouphug::grouphug:
