You all might have found a laugh or two watching me trying to not fall overboard when pouring Dad's ashes into Lake Michigan. I could hear my dad saying "Don't drop me" and the infamous "Watch where you step"

My Dad always was telling me to watch where I was walking. He was the one who stepped where the dogs travelled, If you catch my meaning.;)

:lmao: :lmao: That's too funny! I'm glad you were able to have some funny memories during such a difficult time.

You called for me my leige?!? The big plan is you need practice...lots and lots of practice...soo open up that Rosa and grab the chocolate- I know there's a babysitter out there somewhere in Utah! C'mon- I have Mormons in my family, don't make me go there!:rotfl2:

Really Hon, yell if you need us! We're all here and we all have different stories- but we're all very understanding and good listeners! You really have to wonder about a WFD thread where half of us forget to post what's for dinner!

Maybe if you pray for patience that's what you'll get....unless one of the ones you already have is a Patience- then it'd be Patience 2 and that's kinda weird- like George Foreman's family!:lmao: :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yup! That's just what I needed!!! Surprisingly, that's just what DH suggested, too!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I really must clean my keyboard, it's making typing mistakes again. ;)

Thats how my screen name became hersey instead of Hershey

I meant to say the boa was over a door in her kitchen. Oh well I tried :confused3

I knew exactly what you were saying - that's our gal Lori!!:rotfl2:

that one time a year everyone is our good friend, lol................. good times though..........nothing like margaritas at 10am :rotfl: ......plus the drinking helps so I can stand some of Kris' coworkers from his office......:rolleyes1

We're going to someone's house for the parade this year. If someone was going to bring something to your house, what would you want them to bring? I was thinking of bringing a tart with a graham cracker crust, mascarpone cheese filling and fresh raspberries and blueberries on top.

No cooking for me tonight. DH and I are going out for a quick anniversary dinner. We are planning on a night away this weekend, but he wanted to go out to dinner tonight since it is our actual anniversary.

Happy Anniversary!!

Glynis -- I am so sorry. My mom always says, "When God closes a door, He opens a window." For them, my mom miscarried, but then she was pregnant again almost immediately after that and gave birth to my brother.

DH and I both seem to have come down with a cold so this should be nice and comforting.

Ack! I hope you didn't give it to us this weekend! :) Feel better.

The kids had hamburgers and I had a pesto, tomato, lettuce, fresh mozzarella cheese sandwich. It was a quick dinner because it was a busy day -- golf lesson, Plimoth Plantation, then skating.

I have done enough crying for a while. I think that laughing is in order! Actually, just being around you guys makes me feel "normal". Does that make sense? I just love coming here and reading about what you all do for your families for dinner, etc. Makes me feel connected to something bigger than myself.

It makes perfectly good sense. After I lost my Mom I found that just "talking" here made me feel so much better. Very supportive loving women who are here to lean on. Quite humbling for me to know that women I never met cared and would be there for as long as I needed. I am always here to return that to you.

Thanks. I agree that there's a plan. I'm just not the most patient person. But since I've no choice, I'll just have to wait to find out the plan. Thanks for being here!

"Patience" is not in the contract. I never would have signed.

I wondered where your were, and then when I saw you I thought...."Oh oh....Fasten your seat belt Glynis! Lori is in the house!" :rotfl2:

When I started reading this I said to myself OMG where is she going with this!!!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Me too!

Yummo on the tart!!! I would kneel down and kiss your feet if you brought that to my house.

Thanks. We're feeling ok about things at this point. If nothing else, it really made me realize how much I do want another baby.

It is funny how when you need it the most you get some "help". I'm glad that you have a lighter memory of this day.

The tart is something I would kill for!

My Mom miscarried as well and then along came "ME". Not sure if my siblings are saying kind things today about that little miracle..............I had a bit of a hissy fit yesterday :guilty: but I think that they had it coming...maybe.....

I knew exactly what you were saying - that's our gal Lori!!:rotfl2:

But I still picture her wearing it while cooking............ermmm cooking...........cooking................well, I'm only picturing her cooking, but well............. :rotfl:

Ok ladies remember this is still family hour. I think Sheryl's pcitures of Mario and the Liamtwin's food porn have warp us. I love it pirate: Ok I seriously have to finish my laundry or I'm going to have to call in "sick" tomorrow (lack of clothing)

I'm so sorry, Glynis =( What an emotional rollercoaster you were on!! I have a friend that had that very thing happen to her and it was devastating for her and her husband.

For dinner we had french dip panini's with chips. It was adapted from a Rachael Ray recipe from her magazine. Super easy and it took me about 15 minutes from beginning to end.

Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a medium saucepan. Mix in a tablespoon of corn starch and a can of beef broth. Add a pound of thinly sliced roast beef to the sauce. Heat over low.

Take a french baquette and cut down the middle and into however big you want the sandwiches. Spread butter on both sides of each piece liberally. Taking a large grill pan, grill the inside of each piece until lightly browned (like for a grill cheese). Using tongs, flip over the pieces and pile up the roast beef on one half of each sandwich. Put slices of pepperjack cheese on top of the meat and put other half of bread on top. Take a heavy pan and squish the sandwich down on the pan for 1-2 minutes until brown. Flip and do it to the other side.

Pour leftover broth mixture into small bowls and serve with sandwich.

Nancy - Dinner was wonderful! Kyle's GF was here and the girl can eat - not much left!!

Hey Wendie - where are you?????

Sandy - Are you OK?

I thought it was pretty good. DH really liked it, and stole all the sausage out of my bowl after I stopped eating.

With the stew we had some roasted garlic-spinach foccacia that I got at the farmer's market--for free! I got there towards the end of the market and the baker gave me two loaves of bread for free! DH joked he took pity on me because I looked so ill. The other one is a mushroom-garlic bread. Normally the loaves are $6/each, so I was pretty psyched.

L, anything you bake is going to be awesome. I don't know if you guys know this, but Laura is the best baker! I will have to take photos of all her holiday cookies come December. I can't bake to save my life. The only things I bake that come out halfway decent are cornbread and popovers. I do make a mean grand marnier souffle though, so it's not all bad. ;)

Off to bed! Night all.
