It's odd that we haven't heard a peep out of Sheryl yet today!;)

:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 You might say that, or maybe she was ummmmmm occupied, you know, you have to keep an eye when you have contractors in the house :rotfl:

We are having dinner tonight, if I can get Gretchen's idea out of my mind.....

Teriyaki chicken, potatoes and onions in foil on the grill, spinach salad with blueberries and strawberries and a veggie.

You all are too funny today. I almost had to give myself the Heimlich manuever, I started choking on my butterfinger shake (lunch). I think Sheryl
is too busy with "remodelling" to come out to play with us.

Tonight we are having chicken salad and something on the side maybe fruit.

Welcome back Glynis!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got in from Kyle's Legion game, he pitched and is now 3-1. We won 14-5 and he pitched a complete game! We're so proud of him because the teams that he's pitched against have lots of college boys who are eligible to come back and play Legion ball. We have a new coach and he opted not to bring back the graduates because he wants to get this team ready for next year.

Sorry for the proud Mom moment, we just don't have any family to brag to so it's on y'all!!

Hooray for Kyle!!! Brag away, Mom!!! I love to hear all about it!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to report what I made: Baked Turkey Legs.

I baked 3 of them in a covered Corningware dish. I used a packet of powdered ranch dressing mix and a packet of turkey gravy mix - I mixed them together in a cup of water and poured it over the legs. I also added a little salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, and minced onions.

It took about an hour to cook, and it turned out VERY well. Thanks for all of your ideas on this thread. I've learned alot about seasoning meat from here! :goodvibes

Sounds super yummy!

No "real" cooking for me today. DH and I are attending a bbq with some neighbors, so I'll make Mac and Cheese for the kids. I do have to make dessert for the bbq, and I think I'm going to make a Cranapple Caramel Crostata and some kind of bar cookie. I'll let you know how it is.

Hi everybody just dropping by. :)

WFD tonight, calzones. I'm trying a new recipe. I'll let you know how it turns out. Smells great. :) We're having a picnic tonight with the calzones, chips, and fruit.

It's hot..It's 90 in my living room. I really need to get AC
I have some trout that I will cook on the grill when it cools of and I'll make some mashed potatoes...Again. It's really hot

Well, exercise is done for the day. Although Richard and I might sweat some to the oldies tonight (and no, Rick is not short for Richard-and he's outta town anyway!). I walked to the post office, casino (free $$), work bank, and our bank...and sweated all the way back to the shop. Whatta idiot(smack forehead) walking in the noonday sun!

Last night I broiled a piece of chuck steak, and dry sauteed fresh mushrooms and a vidalia(w/ a slash of chardonnay) and some summer squash. Halved all of it, so that's what's for dinner tonight too! With a kiwi for dessert.

I found a great lunch/dinner for those of you wanting yum-o food for light cals and fat. I nuked a potato, add a small can of turkey chili and top with nonfat plain yogurt instead of sour cream. 3g fat (in the chili) and cals right at 400. BUT you could easily split it in half for 2 lunches. That's lunch right now!

Having lived in NOLA all my life, I had to read your post twice! It's hard to believe that there are actually places where A/C is not a necessity. Trout on the grill  what time is dinner?

:thumbsup2 I knew that the house was safe. If you want my vote, I am always in favor of going out to eat :thumbsup2

I second that vote.

 Holy Cow Jenny! I think you really do need some A/C, but like Kathy said, I have lived in the South my entire life and cannot imagine living without it. Please keep as cool as you can.

I don't know how you didn't pass out. I ran out at lunch to do some quick shopping and my car A/C ran on high the entire time and never cooled the inside very much. I'm almost sick it was so hot and I was sitting. I guess nausea helps the diet plan though. ;) It sounds like you are doing really well. I think about you and the chocolate shake when I want to cheat.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I did, thanks for asking! I got to see 6 plays in 6 days. So fun!!!

That is my idea of Heaven!

If I had no AC here would be not one bit of cooking! I can't do the heat and the stove.

Honey, you done enough sweating for one day! I was out with Kady this afternoon and I was thinking of dashing under the sprinkler with her and her friends. Now that would be a sight!:rotfl2:

Just got in from Kyle's Legion game, he pitched and is now 3-1. We won 14-5 and he pitched a complete game!

Congratulations to Kyle! Never feel bad about bragging -- we all share pieces of our lives on this thread.

Today Ross and I ran around on screech as it was a crazy start to summer.

Wow, Wendie, what a schedule! And I thought we were having a busy week.

WFD tonight is one of two things: if we eat at home it is going to be a pan bagnant--mozzarella, tomato, basil, olives, olive oil, balsmaic, roasted peppers, sweet onion, etc. on a baguette with strawberries.

I am having something similar tonight. I am making a pesto sauce (but with walnuts instead of pinenuts, since I don't have any pinenuts) and having that on a sandwich with tomatoes, sweet onions and lettuce from the farmer's market, and fresh mozzarella. I may also put some grilled chicken on it...haven't decided on that yet. We'll also be having strawberries.

It's hot..It's 90 in my living room. I really need to get AC

We don't have AC either, except for two small units in the kids' bedrooms upstairs. Current living room temperature is 82. I really hope we get a seabreeze like last night to cool things off a bit.

We decided it is just too hot to go to a brewery dinner, so pan bagnat and strawberries it is! :)

When we first bought this townhouse it didn't have a/c that was my first improvement I did. I grew up without a/c, you get spoiled quickly.

I just came back from costco with my cooked chicken just have to fix the salad and slice some fruit. It is soo humid. I found an interesting rib recipe that I'm going to try out on the 4th I'll let you all know know how it goes. I don't like sharing untried recipes.

liamandcaili your dinner sounds delish except for the pesto I can't have walnut or pinenut (very allergic) I wonder what pesto would taste like without the nuts?

Oh and this time I bought the meat so I can make Glynnis' pot roast this week :thumbsup2

It would be great. I think the basic elements of pesto are fresh basil and olive oil. You can add, depending on what you like or need, nuts, parmesan cheese, sauteed or roasted garlic. Tonight, I just used basil, olive oil, toasted walnuts and salt and pepper...oh and I forgot, a little lemon juice. If I were to eliminate the walnuts, I would have substituted parmesan and used a little less oil to bring it together.

Dinner was really good tonight. I used Yoshida Sauce in teh marinade and I had forgotten how good that stuff was.

Ladies: DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THOSE TWO LURKERS OF MINE SAY

They live to mortify me :crazy2:

Well, my day of baking is over. Hooray!!! The crostata turned out really well. I'll post pictures later. It was really easy, too! Instead of making 1 really big one, I made 2 smaller ones. That turned out to be a very good thing. I had made a lemon lime pound cake to take to DH's coworker (their son was killed in a car accident yesterday), and half of it stuck to the pan! I have never had that happen. I didn't do anything differently, but the Pam I used was pretty old. Perhaps that had something to do with it, huh? Next time, I'll definitely take the time to flour the pan. Well, with half the cake stuck in the pan, there's no way I can take that to the Landeen's. So, they will get one of the crostata, and I'll take the other one to the bbq. Then my brilliant 9 year old DD says to me, "can't you make a trifle with the cake?" Picture me slapping my forehead. Of course I can! So, I cubed up the pound cake, mixed up some vanilla pudding, and layered the whole thing with crushed pineapple and Cool Whip. It looks good. Let's just hope it tastes good!

Can we say I'm glad today is almost over!!!

Glynis- I am so sorry for your DH's coworker. I cannot imagine losing a child.

That trifle sounds so good! Have fun at the BBQ.
