We're going to Applebees for dinner tonight. I'm in the middle of running errands and don't want to have to cook.

And, for your amusement, my attempt at beignets. (they look nothing like the photo on the package!! They tasted good though--I did add more sugar after I took this picture.):

I live here and can't make them right! That's why I'm glad there's a Cafe Du Monde not to far from me!! And if you see the ones here, we put LOTS more sugar than that on em!!

Thank you all for thinking of me. I learned my lesson....I am not soing anything for a few days and the house can cave in around me. DH was pretty irritated to come in and find I could not walk. He ran a bath for me and I felt better after. We are going out to dinner with my neighbor tonight.

We ditched Chipotle for Chili's tonight. It's closer. I was craving their chips and queso.

Good early morning! We're leaving soon. I hardly slept maybe 1 hour. I'll sleep later. We are soo excited I wish we all were going together that would be so much fun.

Hey all! sorry I've been MIA for a while. Life/work took over. DH and I ran the Akron Marathon yesterday, so that has been top priority for a while. And believe you me, there have been no stellar meals coming from my kitchen for awhile now. We're at the IL's right now--I hope to post more in the coming week!

I can't decide what we are having tonight. I could either do a beef stew in the crock pot all day- or a New England boiled dinner. It will be one or the other because it's a cold fall day here. Opinions please.

Going to the inlaws today. Not sure WFD, but I am going to predict boneless skinless chicken, some kind of rice from a bag, and a salad. Yes, I made a HUGE breakfast this morning in anticipation. Oh well, the company is good anyway.

I think we nixed the movie idea...it is too nice of a day here. May go to lunch and run a couple errands then hang outside...maybe prune a bush or two.

I'm saving Becky's potatoes for next Sunday, ,y nephew Chris is coming home with his new GF and they are all coming to my home for dinner. I can't wait to see him, his last visit was too short to work all of us in and I always tell him not to worry about making it here...he gets too much pressure from his father's side to get it from me.

Dinner last night was okay....not as good as my neighbors said it would be. The staff was very friendly and service was good. At one point the chef came out of the kitchen and he was huge...bigger and taller than Buddy....in his tee shirt, asked if everything was okay and how was dinner? That was nice but we were already on our 2nd carafe of wine and all I could think was Gorden Ramsey .."Oh Deeeeaaar deeeeaaaar, oh dear oh dear oh dear God......noooooooo, nooootttt in a tee shiiiiiiirt!"

Buddy and I are the only ones home today, and I have promised to sit and read so we are having tuna sandwiches and tomato soup . I hope that the rest eat at the Big E.

Yay! I can't wait to see it!!! I unearthed all of Alan's pins, and I'm so excited to start! My sis wants to make one for her husband, so this will be a project we'll do together, so as to keep the secret until Christmas! I can't wait to see Alan's face!!!

Yesterday was a real family day. It was my nephew's birthday, so we had a huge gathering. We ate 2 kinds of quiche, coffee cake, ham and cheese croissants, 3 kinds of salads, buffalo chicken dip (totally rocked!!! Thanks for the recipe), and fresh fruit. For dessert there was my toffee brownie trifle, white chocolate raspberry bars (I overbaked these! Yikes!), brownies, and a chocolate fountain (nephew asked for this especially). I wish I'd taken my camera, as the kids surrounding that fountain was so funny! They loved dipping in the chocolate, but didn't really do much eating. We ended up with plates and plates of dipped marshmallows, cookies, pretzels, and gummy fish. Too funny! Once the kids had their fill, the grown ups dipped strawberries, apricots, and other goodies.

My parents made the trip for the day, so we all spent time together. Dad and I went to Dillard's and shopped for a couple of hours. Gotta love that! I got some really nice things. I love it when my dad wants to spoil me. We ended up at Nordstrom's and I was able to get myself a pair of Croc Mammoths! I love them!!!!

For dinner, we all went out to Golden Corral. It's the best place to take 8 children, and know that they'll find something to eat. It was a lot of fun, until my Mary got attacked by a child at a neighboring table. She was trying to get back to her seat with her plate, and apparently, something she had looked good to this kid (3 yrs or so). He grabbed her arm, and when she tried to pull away, he scratched her. She has 2 long gouges on her arm where he got her good. That kind of put a damper on the evening.

Dinner tonight is another family function. DH's stepfather is having a birthday, so we're all celebrating. He wants steak and potatoes, so we're doing that. I'm also taking leftover buffalo dip! Wish I had enough ingredients to make another batch!
