Glynis Beautiful pictures. So sorry to hear about your mom though. How is she feeling now? I love the pictures of the girl's curls. I hope your son got over his sickness quickly.

Thanks. Mom's feeling just fine. In fact, she really wasn't sore at all. Her pride was hurt more than anything else.

Jacob was fine by the next day. Just some kind of bug that was running around, I guess.

I love it!!

Glynis - Awesome pics, everything was absolutely beautiful!:cloud9: Sorry about your Mom though, is she feeling better? And OF COURSE we missed you!!!!!;)

Lauren - You're right, the song got me.:rotfl2:

It really was a beautiful wedding. It was nice to see my brother finally settling down. We all just love Jamie, and so it was extra special!!! Mom is feeling just fine. She said that the worst was that as she was facedown on the ground, she knew that she couldn't get up. She has had double knee replacement, and can't put any weight on those joint. She didn't know how she was going to get up. Luckily, our neighbor drove up just as she fell. He had his wife call 911, and he came running. He's worked with the EMT's so he knows basic first aid. He checked her out for broken bones and then got her up and into the house.

Glynis My son thinks those muffins are the bomb :thumbsup2 I made them into a coffee cake of sorts I added cinnamon to the topping too. Thanks for the recipe.

Kathy There was a Childrens show that played in the Chicago area when I was small that had that song playing for one of the segment. It played whenever they had Dr Fisher from the Lincoln park zoo.

Bless her heart, been there done that with my Mom. It's such a totally helpless feeling for them. Give her a hug for me next time you're with her.

Hi all - We had pork chops, stuffing and veggies for dinner tonight. All this talk of wine had me opening a bottle tonight. A very sweet strawberry wine I picked up a few months back (local product). I might have to start doing that a bit more :goodvibes

Gretchen - hope DD is feeling better soon - that sounds miserable.

Lauren - congrats on the weight loss:cheer2:

Piglet - welcome!

Glynis - welcome back and thanks for sharing the pics! Beautiful wedding, dresses, bride, and cool cake! Glad your Mom's okay and your son is better.

I'm glad it was a hit!!! I'm still planning on trying it with lemon pie filling and blueberries.

I will do that! Thanks for caring!

Tonight it's meatloaf, smashed potatoes, and peas.

WFD at your house?

And now down to the real reason for this thread.

Glynis- Dinner is one reason to log on and chat. Pictures like the ones you posted are a real bonus! I loved them all and was glad to see that your Mom was okay and that makeup minimized the damage, but my favorite was that little cutie with the pout. My Mom used to say (when she was pulling, curling and tugging our hair) that you had to suffer to be beautiful and that precious little girl was definitely suffering through the hair do process :goodvibes. Your family is lovely but I loved the girls all done up for a wedding!

She had an Angel looking over her. A fall like that if she was alone would not have been good at all.

I'm glad that it all turned out well and that Jacob was not seriously ill.

Beautiful wedding photos, Glnis! I'm glad you Mom is OK.

Lauren, congrats on the weight loss! You must be so excited.

Gretchen, how is your daughter today? Hopefully better.

Here are photos from last night. Veggie spring rolls with plum sauce:

Sorry for the slight blurriness. Everything was steaming hot when I took the pictures and I think the lens got fogged up.

Have a good day everyone!

Morning all!!

Piglet--welcome to our little home here...now post often so we get to know you, as I am sure after reading all the pages on here you sure know us...warts and all, lol!!!

Lauren-- whoo hoo good job girlfriend!!!!

Gretchen--How is the princess today? I do hope a bit better at least...the poor thing....it is so hard when they expect us to fix it, and we can't do it over night....I send big hugs to her....and you too!!

Glynis---Welcome home friend!! Thank you so much for sharing the pictures with us!!! What a gorgeous wedding...I am in love with the colors, and that cake was to die for!!! What a creative family. I do think that the little ladies might have stolen the spotlight....what pretty little girls!!
Thank goodness your mother was OK...like Nancy said, she was not alone when she fell, an angel for an angel!

I am off to visit the mil today...(ugh)..but I am looking forward to seeing Kris grandmother, I think she might be having TIA's at night, she also has her mind going fast, she has all of a sudden been asking where grandpa is, he has been gone for 10 years now, and keeps thinking that my inlaws little dog is a baby. I will run a few errands while I am out as well. Ross has football tonight, so another quick supper it will be.....I am doing turkey meatball subs with fries, and cukes.

It is 39 degrees here right now, but supposed to get up into the mid 70's this afternoon.
Have a great day all!!

Right on Nancy!:thumbsup2

The shrimp look amazing!!!!!!!!

Gretchen - How is your daughter this morning?

Well we're starting to get a bit nervous down here, possibly facing a tropical storm or minimal hurricane by Friday or Saturday. No need to evacuate, hopefully.

I'm trying a new recipe tonight, it's Sandra Lee's twist on a Bobby Flay recipe - Pork Tenderloin in Plum Sauce. If it comes out good I'll post it if anyone's interested. Sides are Glynis' fruited rice pilaf and snap peas.

Thanks all, again, for the congrats on the weight loss...the Biggest Loser Challenge is really keeping me motivated.

QUESTION: The challenge this week is to try some new fruits and veggies...any suggestions? I eat mostly everything...I am headed to Wegman's to see what they have.

Becky, great yummy pics!

Wendie, good luck with MIL...give Grandma a hug for me. :)

Kathy, come here if you need to...

Gretchen, hope DD is better today.

Kathy There was a Childrens show that played in the Chicago area when I was small that had that song playing for one of the segment. It played whenever they had Dr Fisher from the Lincoln park zoo.

I can't get the darn song out of my head now...I am so stupid.

Thanks. Mom's feeling just fine. In fact, she really wasn't sore at all. Her pride was hurt more than anything else.

Jacob was fine by the next day. Just some kind of bug that was running around, I guess.

Glad everyone is OK.

We are having crockpot mexican chicken. Tom has been asking for it. I will probably serve with whole wheat tortillas and steamed broccoli.

Have a great day all!

Make sure Kris' grandmother is drinking enough fluids sometimes when they get dehydrated they get loopy.

Tonight depending on if it's raining I was going to grill pork chops raining I'll still do pork chops. I still have to decide on the sides.

I am so glad to be here.
I've followed the last year and half of ya'lls lives (yes we say ya'll here in alabama) everything from marriages to miscarries, to falls and loss of loved ones or loved furbabies, to locking ol DH in the freezer (I loved that btw...) Even the occasional recipe or two! ;)

I have several I'm excited to try - the WFD staples like Glynis' Pot Roast and Potato Salad, the Velvet Shrimp, the Jambalaya... Hopefully DH will at least try some stuff if I make it.

Glynis - I love the pictures - you have a beautiful family. Thank you for all the recipes you have put here and on your website. I plan on trying many of them! You are an amazing cook.

liamsaunt - I so love that you post your pics of food you have made. As a beginner - sometimes its hard to know if what you did turned out right - I always love to see a picture of the final dish. I don't buy a cookbook unless at least half of the recipes have pictures. I can only hope to be as good as you one day. I guess practice makes perfect!

I'd love to go on and on about how I love each of you in a different way - especially Lindsay for starting this thread and the effort she puts into maintaining it for us. But it would get boring and really long....
so here - to each of you....

Kathy - keep safe down there... I'll be thinking about you

Lauren - what is a Wegmans? I was going to suggest a local market - fresh fruits and veggies are always the best route - and a farmers market may have some new seasonal stuff in for you to try. I love all veggies - but I don't eat near as many as I should. DH doesn't eat any - so I never buy 'em - they go bad before they get eat. I do want to try those Ziploc steamer bags though.. they look great.

WFD - tonight I'm fending for myself. Probably make up a new Ramen noodle recipe. Its crazy the things you can do with a pack of Ramen.

I wanted to thank everyone for the good wishes and concern for DD. Last night the sores looked terrible, but didn't seem to be bothering her as much. She still only ate italian ice for dinner, but as long as she is getting fluids, I think it is ok. She loved her new toy and we heard it singing to her most of the evening. I checked on her this morning when I went in to wake our other DD for school and the boil part of the sores are gone, just leaving a small red bump. Hopefully, this will translate into her feeling much better.

Glynis - All of the pics are beautiful, but I have to tell you, that photo of your sis painting the flowers for the wedding cake was amazing. What a talented family you have! Thank you for sharing.

Nancy - Did you have a good time at the fair? Did you eat lots of things you shouldn't? :goodvibes

Piglet - One of my favorite recipes uses Ramen noodles. It is a broccoli slaw and my sister says it is like crack. It must be a woman thing though, none of the guys in my family like it and my DH will eat almost anything.

Kathy - You know if that pork is good I want the recipe. ;) I'm watching the weather too and I'll be thinking of all of you. I hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about.

Janice - I hope you will be ok with your tooth until you get back from your vacation. I know you must be getting really excited.

Wendie - Chin up today if you can. Try not to let mil get to you, and you know she will try.

Becky - your pics look wonderful, as always. And I didn't notice any blurring. I was too busy drooling.

Lauren - I wish I could help on the fruit/veggie front, but we seem to be in a rut in that area in my house. I'm trying to get the kids to branch out more in that area, but the cabbage just about pushed them over the edge on Sunday. :sad2:

Dinner tonight is Kathy's Pork Loin with Tomato Basil Cream Sauce. I think I'm making pasta to go with it and maybe some broccoli.

Have a great day everyone!

The little pouter is my niece Olivia. She definitely didn't want to get her hair done!!! She is a tomboy, through and through! She agreed to do it because my daughter, Mary, another tomboy, was getting her hair done. However she was not happy about it. Not one smile did she crack. As the girl was finishing up her hair, I saw one lone tear rolling down her cheek. I could tell that a meltdown was iminent, so I quickly said, "Olivia! You look just like Captain Jack. He has hair in "ringlets" just like you." Now, she's never seen Pirates, but knows all about Capt. Jack. That perked her right up, and she was fine after that! She's got the most gorgeous hair, so I hope she'll grow out of this tomboy phase!

I'm so glad that you feel comfortable enough to just jump in and join the fun!

Thanks for the compliment on my family! I think they're pretty neat! Guess I'll keep them around.

Here's my funny cooking story. I never cooked a thing in my life until I got married 17 years ago! My mother never taught me how, and I never really expressed an interest. Once I did get married, it was Hamburger Helper every night. No wonder DH and I really packed on the pounds! It really wasn't until about 6 years ago that I started to cook in earnest! We moved to our current home to be surrounded by family when I had the twins (really needed the family support at that time), but it meant that Alan's commute time almost tripled! He had been doing most of the cooking up to that point, but told me in no uncertain terms that with the move, I'd have to step up the plate and do the cooking. Oh, the unpalatable meals he suffered through those first few months! He was a brave man, though, and never once complained, bless him! I subscribed to Quick Cooking magazine from Taste of Home, and I've never looked back since. I find that I'm quite addicted to cookbooks, and cooking magazines, and I really enjoy trying new things.

It's amazing how my attitudes towards cooking have changed! Now it's the thing I look forward to every day! I'm not in the same category as the Liam sisters, but with their encouragement, I'm trying harder recipes, and seeing that I can actually do them!!! This thread has been a godsend to me! Hopefully, you'll see it the same way!

Dinner tonight will be hamburgers on the grill! I found some patties shaped like Mickey Mouse, so the kids are excited about that. I'm also making the ranch potato salad and some corn on the cob. It's about gone, here, so I'm making the most of it!

Tonight, I'm breaking out the DVD of Disneyland that I bought on our trip last June. The kids are really missing their dad, right now, so I thought that might cheer them up!
