We are eating whatever our friend is cooking..We are going to a friends house for a BBQ today and my brothers for a BBQ tomorrow. No cooking for me this weekend.

Kathy & Wendie have you ever looked at www.ecost.com before? This week they've had some laptops on sale. I can't remember the specifics but I know they had some good deals. I've used them for several years now and have always been satisfied with my purchases. I think Dan Murphy was the one who told me about the site, I know for certain it was here on the CB I learned about it years ago. You can sign up to get their daily email of deals.

Let me know if you want info on some of the specific deals I've gotten through them or if you want me to forward you the email I got today. I just checked it and there are a few laptops listed.

Please do!

Nancy -- I laughed hard at your chipotle comment. I am like that with garlic. That 2 Tbsp must be a mistake...they really meant the whole head!

Okay, so I don't really have a good plan for dinner tonight yet. I do know it involves the grill (hot again today), a piece of tuna, a filet of arctic char and an avocado. Beyond that, I'm not sure. I have an hour of baseball practice to figure it out though. If it is photo-inspiring, I'll take another pic since everyone seems to be missing DSis. (Me too!)

I wasn't all that inspired at baseball practice, so it took me a while to compile the menu once we were home. Dinner was late, but it ended up being pretty good. I had grilled tuna with a creamy avocado sauce, a salad with pineapple/black bean salsa, and fried tortilla chips. The kids had the arctic char, the tortilla chips and a plain salad.

Here's a pic of my plate:

Tomorrow, Liam has baseball, and since all my family is on vacation, except my brother who doesn't eat vegetables, I am having him over for portabella mushroom burgers, broccoli, and grilled asparagus. Just kidding. We are having steak, and either macaroni and cheese or Nancy's parmesan potatoes. We'll see how hot it is. The kids and I will have something green, but I'm not sure what yet. I know we won't be having carrots (not that they're green). We have been seeing a rabbit in our yard this week. Caili is competely enamoured and wants to bring it inside. I told her she can't, but she has been leaving carrots for it. She took the last two out this afternoon.

We went and saw POTC today then to a cookout with friends. It would have been a nicer day if it didn't rain pretty much all afternoon. Good thing my friends husband doesn't melt :rotfl: We thought the movie was pretty good.

It's Cap'n Jack for me tonight! And Morton's wedges and cocktails. We won a $100 gift certificate for Morton's last night at the Hamster Derby and it's right by the fancy-schmancy theater that shows foreign films and documentaries that is infestered with Pirates... So a couple apps and wedge salads with yummy blue cheese and a couple martinis then the movie with sodas and popcorn! I know that sounds like alot of food, but dang! the movie alone is almost 3 hours long! I already told Rick- don't get po'ed at me for having to miss part of it to potty...I always have to do that-even for a regular length movie!

Wow! That sounds like a great time! I can't remember when DH and I did dinner or anything and a movie. wait, I can;t remember the last time I dragged his sorry self to a movie. Wait one more minute.....I can't remember the last time I went to to a movie :sad2: We are pathetic:upsidedow

Jenny- I am tickled every time you post here because each time it is more clear that Ed is feeling better :thumbsup2

I have that same thing going on with the garlic. I forget that sometimes friends are not used to 10 cloves or so, and oh well, it's good for them :confused3

Now if that is a picture of an uninspired meal, you can sell tickets to your meals that are thought out. I am impressed.

I was out all day and then DH and I visited friends, I had a hot dog and chocolate ice cream and Buddy had a lot of hot dogs and I don't know what else.

Today we had a fajita bar - some family came over. I grilled beef and chicken - the beef marinated in some worseshire, orange zest and juice, garlic, chopped cilantro, chili powder, lime juice, cracked pepper, cumin, white vinegar, brown sugar... can't remember what else I threw in. For the chicken, I just used lime zest and juice and some chopped cilantro.

Anyways, they were very yummy! And a big hit with the family. Also had queso and chips to munch on.

We have lots leftover so we ate that for dinner tonight and will have it for lunch tomorrow after church too!

Tonight we are having homemade pizza with Italian sausage and Canadian bacon.

WFD at your house?

Wendie - I got my Toshiba laptop today and am using it now - it's awesome. It's the one from Best Buy.:yay:

Kathy- Super!! Next week we are going into one of the 2 "big" cities we have and we are going to look at them then----there is nowhere to get one in the area I live in. Glad you like it, I will keep my eye out for it in Bangor when we go....:cool1:

Wfd: It will be this new haddock recipe I found in the newspaper, it has tom sauce and pasta and other stuff, lol sounds great huh? (I don't have the recipe in front of me)

Last night was pulled pork sandwiches, broccoli salad, and mac-n-cheese. Today my parents are coming over, so it'll be BBQ chicken on the grill, cole slaw, baked beans, and rolls. I'm trying a new recipe for a frozen lime pie. I have one that I always use, but found this that's a little different, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Melanie

Since DH has to work tomorrow, we are celebrating Memorial Day today. We'll start by visiting family graves for cleaning and laying flowers. Then we'll come back to the house for a cookout! DH will be grilling burgers and dogs for the kids, and steaks for the grownups. We'll also have corn on the cob, my Ranch potato salad, and a green salad. Dessert will be something I throw together with whatever I have on hand. Looks like something with pumpkin. Is that too "Thanksgiving-y?" Oh well, at least my kids all like pumpkin cookies or bars.

We'll probably go to Chili's today for a late lunch and then and just have dessert for dinner.

Good morning everyone!

Glynis - I could eat pumpkin any time of year.

We're grilling today as well - burgers and jerk chicken, sides will be Glynis' ranch potato salad, baked beans and sweet & sour macaroni salad. YUMMO!

Have a great day!

Wendie - I haven't found DD a new swing yet. Our house isn't really big enough for the true "therapy swings" and the small versions only hold a working load of 80 to 100 lbs. She is just so hard on them I wanted something sturdy. We are thinking of trying a hammock type chair swing, but I just don't know. DH has rigged up her current one and we are checking it daily (sometimes more). It was just so scary to see her ride that swing all the way down to the floor. We were so lucky she wasn't hurt.

Happy belated anniversary Glynis!

Tonight DH is grilling steaks for dinner. He requested baked potates to go with them.

Hope everyone is have a good weekend.

Gretchen

We didn't go to Chili's today - we went to the Roadhouse.

And, I bought my first bottle of Rosa Regale for tonight! ;) :woohoo:

We had grilled steaks, peppers and onions, macaroni and cheese and broccoli. Sorry, no pics today...everyone was too hungry. Liam had a great baseball game. With his two outfield hits (a rarity in Farm league) he surpassed my lifetime outfield hit total, which is still standing at one. It is scary that at 8 and 5, my two children have already surpassed my athletic ability.

Hi All!

I haven't checked in but yesterday we went to my sister's house for a BBQ and today we had my future MIL and her husband over. We had shrimp cocktail, chips and dip, burgers, dogs, baked beans, tossed salad and the recipe I posted here for NY style red onions :) :) :) ........these are awesome if you haven't tried them. We had strawberries and whipped cream for dessert.

My MIL brought over hot sausage from Deitz and Watson...sort of like a spicy hot dog...OMG, I loved them!!!

And, we had a bottle of Rosa!!!

I'm afraid to admit my son at the very advanced age of 12 is so past me in math. I haven't done allegbra since high school  My son has my athletic ablilty which is a big zippo.

My son's school actually sends home parent cheat sheets for the math homework. Fortunately, I haven't needed to use them...yet -- he's only in second grade -- but the way they teach math now is so different from when I was in school. He was doing fractions, word problems and metric measurements this year. The most math I do these days is balancing my checkbook, and I don't do a very good job at that some months!
