Just linking to @mrsap 's post in the regular GF thread that the stools are back and were only moved for the installation of the tree.Plenty of space!
Looks like they removed the barstools while the tree is up.

So long as you don't get too drunk and wind up staggering backwards too far!
JK, you'll be fine!

Disney Vacation Club Desk Reopens at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
The DVC desk closed in September, amid the ongoing reimagining of the resort’s lobby. It was temporarily relocated to a spot near Sandy Cove Gifts and Sundries. It moved back last month but didn’t reopen until now.
Yes, and as I recall the agents were allowed to sit. It's also much smaller, more in line with the DVC kiosks they have in other resorts. Before they had a full writing desk there as I recall.

I guess this is what the problem was, then!BREAKING: Walt Disney World Monorail System Closed Following Reported Fire on Monorail Silver
Shortly before 9am this morning, an emergency call was made for a fire near Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Based on unconfirmed social media posts, Monorail Silver suffered some sort of malfunction, leading to an alleged electrical fire. The fire appears to have produced some black smoke from near a joint between two monorail cabins.
It’s unclear if any guests were on the monorail at the time of the fire, or if there were any injuries. BlogMickey.com has reached out to Disney for more details about the incident, but we haven’t heard back.
The Walt Disney World monorail system is currently closed, likely due to the incident.
They really should have kept the pathway open for guests to walk back and forth to MK!Prolonged monorail outage this morning. We boarded the monorail at VGF at 8:50 am (to head over to Steakhouse 71), but the gray monorail going the other way was stuck on the track. Fire trucks and emergency vehicles started pulling up. So they got us off, and we had to scurry to our rental car and drive over to the Contemporary, arriving about 8 minutes late for our 9:10 reservation.
Had a heck of a time getting back into the parking lot here. Just a ton of traffic coming from both directions. People weren't happy, but we eventually got in. We still wanted to go to Magic Kingdom, so we checked on the monorail....and nope, still out. The gray monorail is still just sitting there. What I don't get is: why not put out signs stating this, so we didn't have to go trooping up to the second floor, only to see that it's out?
Decided we'd walk, after seeing the enormous backup at the boat launch. Got to the walking path and discovered a blockade had been set up. The walkway is closed, due to the monorail issue.
Gave up and headed back to our room.
Not the end of the world, but definitely frustrating! Also, I think the Thanksgiving hoards are starting to descend. Everything is suddenly a whole lot busier this morning.
