The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

The rooms that face the pool, especially interested in 1-bedrooms - can you hear the pool noise inside your room when the door is closed?

I’ve never noticed noise in any of our rooms at VDH. I’ve stayed in studios, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom. I’ve stayed preferred view and standard view. I’ve stayed high floors and lower floors.

We never go at rope drop so I'm hoping it won't affect us too much but time will tell.

On this trip, we only used the PP entrance once to leave the park and that's it. We only actually went to California Adventure a couple times and went through the Grizzly River entrance. And once we cut through the main entrance to grab coffee on our way back to the room.

I'm glad they added a couple more metal detectors at the DTD entrance. We never encountered any long lines there.

I want to hear from all of you VDH owners.

What are your top 3 (or more) favorite things about owning at VDH?
1. Much better availability than VGC.
2. New fresh bright rooms.
3. ? hmmm I will have to reiterate #1, because I cant dislike something if I dont even get much of chance to stay there ( 👀 at you VGC)
What are your 3 least favorite things about owning at VDH?
1. The walk. The walk to DLH isnt horrible but once you get there you still have to walk ALLL the way around if the pool is closed. I will say the walk isnt as much of a con as it used to be to me, I got used to it. The closing of Pixar entrance will be a huge bummer for VDH though.
2. Feels very disconnected from the OG DLH that I love.
3. The views from most rooms.

I feel like the closing of the PP entrance degrades the experience of VGC more so than VDH.

Also, I really enjoy Trader Sam’s, Palm Breeze, and Tangaroa Terrace.

It does impact VGC too. I feel it at VDH a little bit more. Since becoming DVC I have been able to stay at VGC only 2 times (4 nights) and VDH 3 times (8 nights). I feel like I have stayed at VDH much more but turns out just twice as many nights but not separate vacations.

Favorite:
1. Overall vibe is better than VGC, wayyyyyy less hustle and bustle. I do not care for the circus that is VGC's lobby lol
2. Easy access to food options.
3. The Coffee Shop
Lease Favorite:
1. TOT, it is always a bit of a buzz kill to see that bill.
2. So few one bedrooms. I do worry about availability as they sell more points. I have not had an issue at 11 months yet but it does not take long for the rooms to disappear.
3. The "preferred" view of the palette pool is a joke.

What's wrong with the view of the palette pool? I looked at the room view thread and thought it looked fine.

I didn't know about the coffee shop. I'll have to look into that. (Unless it's just Joffrey's coffee...then...meh.)

The lattes are decent and you can order in the app. It's so much easier than going to any of the Starbucks in DTD, DCA or DL. I still will never understand why there aren't more coffee carts in DLR like there are at WDW. They would make $$$ I would think.

What are your 3 least favorite things about owning at VDH?

Have agreed with most of what others have said...

Top 3:
  1. Love the brightness of the rooms and the large bathroom
  2. Easier to get a studio (or reservations period)
  3. Chance of a fireworks view. Both my stays in a preferred view have been on high floors overlooking the monorail pool with great view of the fireworks.
  4. Sorry bonus 4th - as someone else said - the quieter lobby. Drives me nuts to walk into GC and the whole lobby is filled with people (many of whom are not staying there) just sprawled out and resting.
Least Favorite:
  1. ToT - I know it is coming, but it is still a total buzzkill as someone else said
  2. The walk at the end of the day --- not so bad in the morning or when the monorail is running
  3. Parking situation - honestly that is the thing I hate at VGC too though. No close parking.
