The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

Yes this how you do it but the method does vary from browser to browser. Can do it on just about any desktop browser or a Chromebook but I wasn’t able to get this to work on an iPad Pro. I think there are tools that can do it on iOS but too much work for me.
I can never get it to work. I look at the network server responses. The only thing close is resort-availability and that has a lot of info on resorts, but nothing on number of rooms. I wonder if they changed the web-service call not to include it.

Question for owners: if you could re-choose your resort, would you pick VDH again? Why or why not?
A big YES from me. I love my VDH and almost wish that I had more. I also own VGC and I prefer VGC, but it's great to have both.

My favorite things about VDH:

Love the theme, the overall history of the hotel, the restaurants, room service, and the gift shop.
I've had good experiences with walk up dining reservations and the property doesn't feel as crowded as VGC, probably because it's spread out more and doesn't have direct park access.

I was recently going to book one night at VGC in a one bedroom for 76 points. I decided to check VDH to see if it took less points and it was only 50 points. There are times when VDH takes more points than VGC.

Things I don't like about VDH:

I hate paying the TOT. $3./point is ridiculous, especially considering that Anaheim was basically a wasteland before Disneyland expanded. They should be paying us to stay there.

The walk to the tower is stupid. There's a direct route, but we're supposed to go around the long way.

I use the spa at VGC often and only when I stay at VGC because of the walk. I wish the Disneyland hotel had a spa or some of the regular early activities that are offered by the spa.

The flow to get to the tower is atrocious.

A big Maybe. We loved our stay at VDH, but as others have stated, there is no direct walk to the tower. If the monorail is not running, it can be a long walk back from the parks. To the parks is not bad, but killer at the end of a long day.
Sure hate the ToT. You know TOT in German means death! Apropos here I think. We also have VGC points and will be doing a split stay in feb. Wondering if we should dump our VDH points and see if I can score more VGC.
But the tower is really nice. The views are a bit hit or miss, however. It would be great if DVC would declare more inventory. I feel they are making the availability artificially low.

I am happy with my choice and would choose it again. Yes, the TOT sucks, but we wanted California points. I have a sentimental attachment to the DLH though and am one of the few who prefer it over GCH. I love the mid-century modern vibe at VDH and the palm trees. It just feels like a Disney vacation to me. I think the GCH aesthetic just kind of reminds me of home. I definitely agree about the path back to the tower; it’s rough at the end of the night!

Yes as a local it’s so nice being able to grab a room for one or two nights throughout the year and the duo studios are a fantastic points saving option when it’s just going to be two people. VGC has my heart but I’m really grateful to have VDH too.

Yes! I love both the DL DVC resorts for very different reasons like everyone else. I love being able to have a 3-4 stays per year with some at VGC (Christmas and July anniversary) and some at VDH (May and other times a year).

Can you expand on what you mean by this?
When you walk through the main lobby to get to all the other towers, VDH is on your right. You need to walk to the left and walk on the path between the Adventure Tower and the backside of Trader Sam's, walk around Trader Sam's and pass the frontier Tower and then you can enter VDH.

Alternative route if it's not busy with people is to exit out of the main hotel lobby, go right by the coffee shop and then go over the bridge to Trader Sam's, pass the Frontier Tower and enter VDH. That's difficult with luggage during mealtimes and busy pool time.

A more direct route (that we're not supposed to take), is to exit main lobby go to the right pass coffee shop and Goofy's Kitchen, keep walking straight to the tower. There's a pool gate that's usually closed and you have to walk through the Palm Breeze bar if you go this way. There's one more gate that's usually closed at the VDH tower. I have exited that way when checking out if the gates are open. We're not supposed to do that, but it's a direct route vs the way we're supposed to go.

We go this way anytime we're going between VDH and the main lobby during pool hours and nobody says anything to us other than greeting us and smiling
