Sorry to bring up an older comment, but is this a CA thing? So if you don't book an accessible room you can't be put in one? I don't feel like I've ever noticed this with Disney World inventory having availability in accessible rooms but not the regular rooms... it seems to always match...
Wanted to follow up with what we actually were able to do. We decided to start walking a 9 night stay in a standard deluxe studio with our SSR points (knowing we could get blocked). Turned out to be very simple and got all 9 nights that we wanted. It also freed some bankable points up from our VDH points so that was a bonus. The other bonus was that we somehow were able to also luck into a standard view studio at RIV for the week at WDW before we head to DL,
It is a CA thing. Accessible inventory and non-accessible inventory has to be separate in CA. Like you said, at WDW its all the same inventory but you can specifically reserve an accessible room if you need to.
One thing that came up at VGC a few years ago was you could reserve a room at 11 months and still be put in the HA room because it was in general inventory. We usually came in late from the east coast. I don't know if our original room assignment was changed by someone else who didn't want the HA room or if we kept getting it by "luck" of the draw, but we got assigned the HA room quite a bit.

Sorry your experience was so awful. I really hope one day you’ll be able to see your situation was a CM issue and not VDH necessarily. They had to hire a bunch a new people to accommodate for the new building so you’ll have mistakes. Too bad they couldn’t fix it for you early on. I would definitely just prepare a credit card for any future dvc bookings. I know you said you didn’t have any issues before but I always have a hold on my account whenever I check in but I don’t really notice it with a credit card. I had 3 holds just last week at WDW because I did 3 split stays. If you ever do a search a debit card hold causes headache for tons of guests. I would love for you to give VDH another try maybe a few yrs later after they figure everything out, but it’s understandable if it now triggers bad memories for you. I’m going for my 4th stay next month so I personally love being an owner!
I live 20 minutes from DLR, and have now stayed at the Villas twice. Once during the second week of operation, and again last week. On neither occasion did they try to charge me for parking, nor did they charge me the TOT up front. I had a normal hold placed on my CC, and the only thing charged to it by DLH was the TOT (at checkout).
If done correctly, you won’t get anything other charges other than transient tax and like the $200 hold for incidentals. I never mark needing parking at online check in but they always have my little paper placard ready and I never got charged so far. I still think it’s the luck of the draw for the unfortunate mistakes that happen to people.

Interesting. I've had a no issues and no charges streak at two VGC and 1 VDH stay. To save any potential hassle I just "forgot" to list any cars at all on the pre-check in on the Disneyland app. All of the cars in our party just said we were DVC and gave the name/room number. When we left the parking area we just said we were DVC guests and no issues at all. We even had an extra guest visit for a day (they were on the room) and they also had no issues.
It's not an issue. I'm just saying that at VGC, the parking fee does appear on the bill initially, but is backed out before you check out (you don't need to do anything and it's always gone for us too). I'm just saying that at VDH, the parking fee doesn't even show up on the bill at any time, not do they really know when you come and go.
