The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

Ok should have asked this in the original post. But we are renting a car and driving in from John Wayne. Does VDH have Valet parking? Any tips on driving from the airport? Thanks

Not presently. They are working on this. There is a new security entrance to DTD and they are working on converting the old entrance to a hotel guest entrance only.

When we were there in June we ended up going to VGC and using their entrance for early entry because it was shaded. We also walked over once in the afternoon when the entrance near VDH was ridiculously long.

ETA: From what I have read they've started allowing hotel guests into the DTD entrance near VDH at 6:45 for early entry and holding others until 7:00.

They were not doing that this week-we were held with all visitors at the DTD security line.

Hello! I'm considering a very small purchase of 25-30 points for VDH in order to use every other year for about 3 days in travel period 1 or 2. My current DVC contract is a resale contract and VGC is tough to get. My question is for you VDH experts on what is the lowest or average price per point you've seen for small direct contracts? I realize there wouldn't be big incentives. I want to have a rough price in mind so I can know when the time is right to purchase. Also, do they have a minimum point purchase? The smallest I've seen on the resale market is 50 points. Thanks for any help!

The minimum buy in is 50 for VDH. You won't find anything smaller than that.

ETA: The minimum for DVC Direct is now 50, that is the reason there are no smaller VDH contracts.

Recently there was a 50 point feb no points til 2025 listed for $210pp It went pending in about a week.

At the same time there was a 100 point non stripped for $158pp that also sold in about a week.

The minimum VDH Direct at this time is 50 points (unlikely to go up or down, but who knows). I've seen at least three 50 point resales in the last couple of months, so they do happen. Listed between $190 to $210. Be sure to check the fees of the Brokers and add in that to the price per point, a couple either add a service fee of $250 and/or act like no seller will accept a title company besides theirs - and their escrow title fees may be more than industry standard. With a small 50 point contract, for example, broker "extras" can push the actual price per point up $10/per point ;)

Maybe consider buying 25 to 30 points Direct at a cheaper resort that ALLOWS lower point purchases, if you have another resort you really like too? That limits you to booking at the 7 month mark, but could be used at VGC VDH and (probably) anything new they add.

To see the minimums, sign into your DVC account and go to this page, click on the different resorts and each shows the current Direct Price and the minimum. https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/add-vacation-points/ (I say sign in, 'cause I do not think that is a public access page?)

thanks! I hadn't noticed that page, so that was helpful. It looks like VDH is $239/pt direct for small contracts. Not sure if it's been cheaper than that, but that helps guide me. I couldn't on Disney's website where it says 50 point minimum, but did Google and saw it was mentioned on DVCFan. Thanks for the answers everyone, that helps guide me!

Resale points can't be used for VDH.
Edit to clarify: VDH resale points can be used there+of course). All other resort resale points cannot be used to book VDH.

Use of resale points is a little complicated these days. If I remember right, If you get resale points at one of the original 14 resorts then you can use those points at any of the 14 original resorts. DVC changed the rules when Riviera was built. From the Riviera on, you can only use resale points at the home resort. bummer.

Yes, agreed. I do know that, which is why I was asking about small direct contract prices for VDH. I didn't realize that 50 points was the smallest. VDH resale would be a decent alternative, but again with a 50 point min, and probably harder to find anyway.

Not true, only VDH, RIV, and CFW are 50 points minimum - all other resorts available Direct are 25 minimum, and all other resorts ARE available except Poly and VGF right now (although VGC rarely seems to have any points available).
Thanks for the correction. My mistake.

Hi all! Is a midday break for pool or nap possible here, or not worth the walk back during a three day trip? We have a four and six year old who may be jet lagged or exhausted during some of the trip. It would also be nice to try some of the fun pools.

We were on the waitlist for GCH that I am beginning to give up on, but may have found a reservation here at the new villas instead in a two bedroom with our two kids and their grandparents. The rooms look beautiful! We are going in mid-March (is this too cold for the pools?).

We used to go to DLH in December. Our kids were the only ones in the pool! But we live in Washington. So kinda depends on where you are from.

Very doable for a midday nap! Our trips are usually only 3 days and I refuse to go without a midday nap for my toddler lol The walk isn’t bad at all.
