The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

I knew VGC has low availability but I honestly thought studio's would be easy to come by at VDH. For me its not that I cant plan 8-11 months out. It's rooms for special events that tend to not be announced that far in advance. I was able to get 1 night at VGC for OBB, but 2 nights would've been better.
I really want to pull the trigger on 200 points, but the lack of availability of 1BDs on top of the other known factors just feels like a deal breaker for me.

IMO, they really should have doubled or tripled the number of villas and made them all lock offs.

You and others know better than me, but Im really hoping availability will get better over time as more room are declared. But I do know that 1bed and 2 beds are small in the inventory. 🤔 Do they have connecting studios? If they had connecting duos and deluxe studios that could work for so many that have older kids

Luckily we fit in a studio for now and when my daughter joins us they can be in a 2nd studio when needed. We are staying in a 2 bed in February and I just know thats really going to sour my taste on the studios.

I would monitor one bedroom availability at 11 months for a while. I do think as the parks expand, they will be more demand for them. I would say that so far when we have tried for a villa, we’ve had no problems getting it but we always tried 11 months and we’ve only booked one three times.

Yup. Fingers crossed more villas get declared soon.

For our upcoming January trip, we booked two studios. Would like to have booked a 1 or 2 bedroom. Daughters are in university and early 20s. Having the extra space to separate for bedtime and getting ready is super beneficial.

Am I reading that right that a WK52 is 433 points for a 1BD Villa when it would only cost 296 points on a floating rate?
Yeah, I think it's because of the rare year where W52 starts on 12/24 or 12/25 where you'd get a too-good value. And 2023, when these were likely determined, was one of those years.

Yup....... Fantasia is only in the 2 bedroom dedicated 😢 We are stuck looking at a giant portrait of a princess for the 1bedroom.
I really don’t like how they have jammed so much princess and the frog everywhere. I liked the movie, but between a store, a restaurant, a major attraction, and now critter country…. I don’t want to have to walk back and see it in my room.

This had me wondering. Are the sum of all Fixed Weeks 10% greater than the sum of a normal booked year? Do they do to other weeks what they did to W52? Do they compensate (iirc, Week 11 is a good deal)?

So I did it myself:
Room Category
2025 Standard Booking
(pts/yr, 365 days)
Fixed Week Booking
(pts/yr, 364 days)
Average Fixed Week Premium in 2025
(corrected for 364 vs. 365)
Standard Studio

Preferred Studio

16,417

2 Bedroom

Turns out they're not even hitting 10% premium over the 2025 points chart in every category! I guess there are some hidden gem weeks in there, especially if W52 is such a bad deal.

Below is what someone posted this as what the best deals for FW was. Im not sure if this is the best, I ended up doing a FW we might use and that was a decent point amount so I didnt research further.

"Week 10 is the best because it is a 3 tier jump in the middle of the week. This year its a 6 point gap for a studio (132 to 138 FW), but in 2029 would cost 146, so you'd come out ahead a lot of years
Week 4 is the next best, because it's a 2 tier jump. This year it’s a 6 point gap (101 vs 107 FW), but 2029 would cost 109 points, so you'd come out ahead by 2 points."

I think each 1 bed should be different theming

For VDH specifically?

1) I wouldn't put much hope in FW value bumps in resale in the future, a week is currently an abnormally long time to visit DL for most visitors. On top of that, in this point range you're looking at a Studio that is likely easy to book for an owner, with the room balance at VDH.
2) I wouldn't put much value in higher resale residual today considering you're looking at 160ish. 160ish is already reasonably sized and time value of money and all that.
2b) I would consider breaking into smaller pieces so you have point-shedding flexibility in the future (e.g., if you only need 120 in the future, buying a 120 and a 60 today means you can right-size fairly well)
3) As you've posted immediately above, incentives at 200 aren't that much better, so increasing for value won't result in much value gain
4) You should probably buy 10+% more points than you thing you need today, as who knows what future points charts will morph into. Even more than 10% if you're buying for a holiday-variable time of year or immediately adjacent to a higher season.
It seems that the avg ppp for the 40 points to go from 160 to 200 points is only $150pp…

That’s not to shabby…

Yes - there's always (I think?) been a 10% premium/upcharge on points for a fixed week but... whenever you cancel for a year you have all those points you can use however you want. So the ease of mind of having the fixed/favorite week costs you when you actually use it but just means you have a crap ton of points when you don't.
