Minisodes Begin Debuting Online Today with Network Debut, May 2

New York, N.Y., April 27, 2010 – As audiences get ready for the highly anticipated new season of True Blood, debuting on HBO, June 13, the network is giving viewers a drop of True Blood with an online premiere of six original minisodes for the series. Written by show creator Alan Ball and featuring lead cast members, the minisodes are entirely new, with scenes that can’t be found in past or future seasons. The first minisode will debut online today exclusively on Yahoo! at: www.tv.yahoo.com.

Following its debut on Yahoo!, the first minisode will be available for streaming and sharing at www.hbo.com and the official True Blood Facebook page: www.facebook.com/trueblood beginning on Wednesday, April 28 and can be seen on HBO starting on Sunday, May 2 and HBO On Demand on Monday, May 3. Subsequent minisodes will have exclusive debuts each week for five weeks on select online sites, followed by HBO.com. The minisodes will make their network premiere every Sunday night immediately after the season 2 encore presentations at 8pm, with HOD premieres each Monday.

“The minisodes provide a wonderful and rare opportunity to take a deeper look into Bon Temps and the characters that live in this colorful town,” said Alan Ball, Creator and Executive Producer of True Blood. “The scenes are so much fun, and the performances as stellar as always. I can’t wait to share them with everyone, old fans and new.”

“We can’t think of a better way to quench fans’ thirst for True Blood than to give them six, entirely new minisodes that let them step back into the amazing world created by Alan Ball,” said Zach Enterlin, Vice President of Advertising and Promotion, HBO. “The minisodes are a perfect way to reward fans of the series while simultaneously exposing new, interested viewers to the show.”

As meticulously crafted as the show itself, the True Blood minisodes were shot on location by the series’ production team and feature lead characters Sookie, Bill, Eric, Tara, Sam, Jason, Lafayette, Jessica and Pam in all new, original scenes with a nod to past and future storylines. The 3-5 minute minisodes promise to entice “Trubies” as well as potential viewers with scenes that will whet their appetites for things to come.

The minisodes are part of a comprehensive True Blood marketing campaign created by HBO that began in March with a viral video and poster campaign. The campaign will continue through the network premiere and includes everything from screening events, online, mobile and social media outreach, stunts, multi-platform and viral videos and traditional media.

Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, the Emmy® and Golden Globe® -winning original series takes place in the not-too-distant future, when vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source. Centered in the backwoods Louisiana town of Bon Temps, True Blood follows the ongoing adventures and deadly twists and turns that threaten telepathic heroine Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), her soul mate, 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), and everyone else around her. Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy®-winning HBO series “Six Feet Under”) created and executive produces the show, which is based on the best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.

Home Box Office, Inc. is the premium television programming subsidiary of Time Warner Inc., providing two 24-hour pay television services – HBO® and Cinemax® – to approximately 41 million U.S. subscribers. Was it GREAT...No...was it horrible...No..I am a bit indifferent..Honestly, Sookie has changed after the last book(can't blame her there), but there was NOT enough Eric...<sigh>...but overall, OK...

I finished it on Saturday. Definitely not enough Eric. Nothing really happened either, and the book seemed all over the place at times.

I totally forgot that it came out and saw it when I was in the book store last night! I have it for my trip this weekend!

Just started working on it. Had to finish the last "Black Dagger Brotherhood" book first! I'm only a few chapters in.

You are definitely a girl after my own heart. I just had both books delivered yesterday from Amazon. I'm going to read the Sookie book first as I know it will be a really quick read and than I'll savor the Black Dagger Brotherhood book. :)

So I finished the new book...anyone else?

Yep. I feel a little like I did after watching Pirates of the Caribbean 2. It was entertaining, but felt just like a way to get us from the last book to the next book and didn't seem like a full book on its own.

I enjoyed it. I kind of liked that Sookie wasn't overly beaten up in this book. I felt like the last book was really hard on Sookie and she needed time to really recover and deal with the fallout of the last book. I enjoyed the emerging emotional dynamic between her and Eric. Although it was interesing that Appicus (or whatever his name was) said that she wouldn't stay with him or something to that effect.

I enjoyed spending the weekend with Sookie and Erik in Dead in the Family.

I didn't like how it started, but it picked up speed as it went along.

Ok I finished the book a couple of days ago. It was a good space filler until the season started at least. And not the best of the books but I wouldn't say that I hated it. I actually enjoyed the tension between Sookie/Eric/Atticus. And I did also enjoy the Alexei storyline. That was interesting. I ended up going back and wikipedia-ing (is that a word? lol) the whole assassination and looks like Charlaine Harris really did her reasearch!

So is anyone going to the True blood ultimate fan experience? I signed up for the general tickets but I am trying for VIP, anyone else?

What is it?

Also, did anyone catch the 15 minute lead in for the news season that was on HBO last night?

I picked up the book over the weekend and just finished it. I liked it- Jason seems to be growing up nicely in this one. Not enough Sam, Bill, or Pam, but overall, a pretty good story.

I am not too excited about the fairies, but maybe they will be a smaller prescence, since only Claude and Dalton are around now. I like the weres, and all the pack politics is interesting. Alcide sounds like he has really taken to being Packmaster!

Are you talking about the wrap up leading into the next season? If so I watched it. Can't wait!!! I forgot how it ended so it was all good.;)

I think I need to record the last episode as a refresher.

Here is another YouTube type clip. This one is of hot, very shirtless Eric & (dressed) Sookie:

As the clip loads, mouse over to the top right of the video screen, you can click on a little red box which will make the video full screen. You will want to see Eric - err, the video in full screen mode. :thumbsup2

Quite nice.

Thank you!

Seems like we'll get some of book #4 this season. My favorite Eric book.
