"The Official 'True Blood' Vampire Thread" ...spoilers included.

About the girl that Bill bit, if she was not a lesbian in this life- I wonder if she can be one now ....with Pam. BUT, better yet, maybe Bill will take her in (out of pity) but something may blossom since Sookie is going to reject Bill. And then of course, Sookie will end up being jealous.
It doesn't matter in the vampire world. Vampires may have a preference, but they don't discriminate... any port in a storm, I guess.

Since spoilers are "included" in this thread, would someone please PM me who the killer was in the book?
Thanks!

Never mind... I googled the answer.

I wish all you west coasters could see TB when the east coast does. I wanted to discuss all of this last nite! :hyper:

I think Rene's accent is absolutely horrible. Other people from LA have complained that it isn't authentic, too.
Oh, good. It's not just me. I don't know anything about a LA accent, but his comes & goes, which is what makes it horrible.

Bill, in real life has a British accent & Jason is an Aussie. Both of them are able to get & have consistent accents. :thumbsup2

Oh, and another thing. I was sad to see Eddie go

I was surprised that he didn't go to Jason's house to confront him, too.
Yeah, I was hoping Lafayette was going to go over to the house, find Eddie & save him. Sorry to see Eddie go. :(

Hi...

Thought I would chime in here as I am one of the many addicted to this program. I did not realize you all were talking here as well.
Are they talking on another thread on the DIS as well? NO! Don't tell me. I'm already spending enough time on this thread. :surfweb:

<Repeating silently to myself> I need to get a life...I need to get a life...

Oh No!:scared1: You can't get the full effect here! Do you have ON Demand??:confused3
I don't have HBO On Demand, so I watched a couple episodes on line. I ran my AVG antivirus two different times afterwards, & no weird stuff was downloaded after watching online. (Don't know if that even is possible, but wasn't taking any chances.)

Oh. Well, I wouldn't slap Sookie over that. ;) As my dd would say, Bill and I are in a fight--he's not my favorite. :lmao:
You mean, Bill hasn't glamoured you? :flower3:

I know those of you who read the book will know this- but from the previews, they were taking Jason into custody, I wonder if he killed Amy??? I did not see her in the previews. :confused3 Or maybe there was just another murder?
Since spoilers are "included" in this thread, would someone please PM me who the killer was in the book?
Thanks!
We need a sub-thread for book previews. :rotfl:
Sometime I want to know, then other times I don't... then I want to know again. Oh no! Isn't that what an addict goes through?!?

If he truly knows everything, he would have known that the blond girl knew that Longshadow was stealing from him. I think they only know when they glamour someone.
But the blonde was glamoured at the time she did it & couldn't remember she did it, or who it was. Remember, that part of her brain was blank.

Darn it! I wanted Tara to be nice for longer than 3 minutes, though I enjoyed the part in the pharmacy.

How are they going to ruin the show with Bill's newly turned spawn? UGH! Won't she have to live with someone (i.e. Bill) to learn the ropes of vampiredom?

I don't remember Sookie being so mad at Sam in the books about being a shifter. I thought she was more sympathetic and interested that there were paranormal people other than just vampires.

I was happy that Hoyt finally grew a pair with his mother. He was always shy in the books and was always with Jason, but he wasn't henpecked by his mother.

I think Rene's accent is absolutely horrible. Other people from LA have complained that it isn't authentic, too.

I loved last week when Bill was playing Wii Golf. It reminded me I have to pick up a copy of that for my DS for Christmas so Mommy and Daddy can play it, too. It's the only way I can beat my DH at golf.

Ok, I just finished spending the whole weekend reading the entire series (minus the last one and the one coming out next May.) I'm not sure if that was a good idea as a fan of the show too. Now all I can think is how wrong the show is getting it.

While I like the show, I much prefer the very in the background Tara in the book, no Amy, no big emphasis on vampire blood, and no spawn from Bill.

Though I can now see why so many are looking forward to a bigger part from Eric.

That's my problem, too. I keep thinking, "Hey, that's WRONG!" :lmao: I've found that's it's best to think of them as two entirely different things.

And now you know why I :lovestruc Eric and why Bill and I are in a fight. :rotfl: You have to love a man who buys you gravel when you need it.

I do still hold out hope for Bill though. And Quinn. And Eric. See? I'm torn too. I've been searching the book stores around here for the last book out, For Dead or Worse. There's another coming out next May. It's going to be hard to wait after reading all the other books back to back.

It is hard to wait. I've read them as they came out and after reading the last one over the summer, I went back to the beginning and read them one right after another. That was great!

But my heart has always belonged to Eric. :rotfl: Not to ruin it for others but he always seemed to be more in tune to making sure that Sookie had what she needed than Bill was. Even if it was gravel. As long as I keep my crushes to fictional characters, DH is good with it. ;)

I think you have to start thinking of the show as being based on the books, or the characters inspired for the show, not a re-creation that follows the books faithfully.

When I was a child and could order books in school through Scholastic, after seeing the movie, The Sound of Music, I went & ordered the book, Maria von Trapp's life: her Sound of Music. (Or something like that.) When the book arrived, it was NOTHING like the movie. It was her autobiography. I hadn't realized at the time, what I really wanted was the actual play or script from the film, to re-experience and read the dialogue from the film.

If people are picking up the books, hoping they will be the show, they WILL be dissapointed. :( Some things written just don't translate onto screen well. Some dialogue, when read, really do not work actually coming out of people's mouths. That's why playwrights have play readings. To hear what the dialogue sounds like actually coming out of people. Some scenes & plots that move on the page are dead on screen.

In the end, it comes down to money, business & ratings. What will move the TV show? I think if HBO wants this series to continue, and it does have the old Sopranos time slot, anything in that slot has to try to get the ratings The Sopranos had for many years. The show will have to deviate from the original books. It needs story lines that will reach a diverse audience, not just vampire genre fans.

It also looks like this show is more of an ensemble show, that 2-3 character driven, which is why they are highlighting more characters that are minor in the books.

I am a die hard Star Trek fan. The latter 4 series are only based on the original series. And the latter 3 were hardly based on Gene Roddenberry's original vision of the future, at all, once he died & Rick Berman took over the helm & changed the vision & concept of hope for the future to one of conflict, bickering and a darker future. :sad2: In fact, the last series, Enterprise, so lacked Roddenberry's vision, it tanked and ended the franchise.

IMO, the best of the latter series was The Next Generation, because it was an ensemble show.

TV shows which last are ensemble shows. Shows where one or two of the main stars leave, the show still continues, like NYPD Blue, Law & Order, The West Wing, M.A.S.H.

Again, if Sookie & Bill fizzle in real life and the actors can't keep the fizzle onscreen, the show may move towards a Sookie & Eric storyline, or something way, way different from the books.

Last, what kind of accent is Rene (Arlene's fiance,) supposed to have? I actually looked him up on imdb.com to see where he's from. He's from Michigan and it even said he hired his own dialect coach for True Blood. Is it supposed to be French? If so, that dialect coach should be shot. Is it some Southern-French-Louisiana accent? :confused3

It is supposed to be a Cajun French accent- but it is a very bad Cajun French accent- sort of over the top and way too much- if he toned it down a bit- it would be much better- but it is the same with the southern drawls on some of the other girls- they are over the top for the area of the state they are supposed to be from too.

And now you know why I :lovestruc Eric and why Bill and I are in a fight. :rotfl: You have to love a man who buys you gravel when you need it.
Amen to that!

I can't wait to find out what happens after the cliff hanger in From Dead to Worse! Bring it on, now! May, that is... I hate this cold weather and having to heat my house... the bonus is the new Sookie book!
But my heart has always belonged to Eric. :rotfl: Not to ruin it for others but he always seemed to be more in tune to making sure that Sookie had what she needed than Bill was. Even if it was gravel. As long as I keep my crushes to fictional characters, DH is good with it. ;)
My heart belongs to Eric, too. He's a man's man, and yet he becomes softer around Sookie, but still retains his manliness.

BTW, the opening credits in this show are by far the best I have ever seen. I love the song ( have for a couple of years ), and the video portion is really cool.

Just a FYI- if anyone is a Howard Stern fan, Lizzy Caplan (Amy) will be on his show today.

Not sure what time- I am on the East Coast, but I listen to the West Coast feed (at 9am) so not to miss a minute of the show.

Howard is a big fan of True Blood.

Just letting you all know:flower3:

Question for those of you who read the books. Has the killer been caught yet or is he still out there?

If you googled the answer to who is the killer, then you know the answer. ;) If you're unsure that the answer that you got from google is correct, I'll PM you.

I just googled who the killer was, not if he was caught in the books.
Thanks.

I read book 1 so I know who the killer is, I suspected him about 1/2 way thru the book, BUT.........I finished the book right before the last episode last week.
but I was not suspecting this person as the killer on the show,
something about him in the book though................made me suspect him.
I am on to the next book soon:thumbsup2

The killer is caught by the end of the first book. I also suspected that person in the book, but not in the show. So I'm not sure if the show will change it or is just doing a great job of avoiding too much foreshadowing.

I have finished the entire series. Now I have to wait until next May for the next book. I read so many back to back to back that I really got caught up and keep expecting to see some of the characters pop up. (Preferably Sam, Bill or Eric.) ;)

I hate to be the voice of dissent, but I really like Rene's accent. I love listening to him talk and really look forward to his scenes.
