"The Official 'True Blood' Vampire Thread" ...spoilers included.

That's because the show is focusing on a lot of things that were never in the book. The central storyline is about Sookie and her relationship with Bill and the fact that she's a telepath and there are several murders in Bon Temps that can be attributed to either Bill or her brother. Aside from that, the rest is just fluff for the screen.

I agree. Lafayette plays a much bigger role in the show than in the books. I'm liking Tara's storyline a bit better as the show progresses. We definitely need more ERIC, though.

For those of you who've read the Southern Vampire/ Sookie series, try Charlaine Harris' Harper Connelly series. They're every bit as good, although Harris has said on her message board that she doesn't know how many more Harper stories she has in her. There are three so far.

I don't mind the Tara story line in the show, but I am really getting sick of Sookie's brother. He always looks like he hasn't showered in days and I don't understand how he keeps getting any women with that look (okay, he is hot underneath the grimey exterior, but still!)

At least once during ever show, I have to say that Bill is certainly not Edward Cullen. I like Bill, but he has to re-learn how to live with humans.

I am reading the books too, but I only got through chapter 1 so far.
But think of the girls Jason is getting... not the cream of the crop. Maybe if he'd give up his drug of choice, he would be cleaner looking, like I pictured him from the books.

We definitely need more ERIC, though.

Amen about Eric! I especially like how proper Bill is around him, well how everyone acts around Eric.

I'm currently reading the Shakespeare novels, then I'll be on to the Harper Collins books. I've enjoyed everything that Charlaine Harris has to offer so far.

Very true about the girls he gets. The one this week was the best one yet. The one from the bar was pathetic.

I missed the first three episodes so I was over at Youtube looking for clips. Boy, I wish people would label their clips better so they could be seen in order. :headache:

Anyway, I found this clip of the the opening credits/theme song by Jace Everett. The graphics have been changed to Snookie & Bill, which I think fits the theme of the song better. :teeth:

Thanks for sharing that! It was good.

Whoever posted this did a really nice job of matching the scenes to the music.

Thank you! I get too caught up in the minute (sp?) details and get lost really easily. I'll try and focus more on that when the next show plays. ;)

I wasn't able to find full episodes of the earlier shows, only a 5 minutes synopsis. But, you did give me the idea to hunt online to see if I could find them. I did find a site that had the first episode with Chinese subtitles. It is so funny to see American swearing subtitled with Chinese characters. :rotfl:

Anyway, it must have been the original pilot episode, before a final version aired on HBO because they have a different Tara. She must have been replaced for the series. It was like watching an alternate reality. This Tara was prissier. She doesn't have the heavy, screwed up quality & complexities that the current Tara has.

BUT: the real interesting part of this older version is that they showed some extra footage not in the final HBO show. It was during the scene where Sookie saves Bill from the Rattrays. I saw the HBO clip first on Youtube the night before, so I was able to see the differences.

There are clips of a person in the woods watching the whole thing as Sookie is about to hit Mack with the chain. When Bill looks off to the side, he not only sees Sookie sneaking up, he sees this person. There is also a clip of the face of this person.

They show the person disappearing, and a little later, the DOG appears. Bill gives the dog a real interesting look when it first shows up. And of course, it licks Sookie for saving Bill. I'm sure this person IS THE DOG!

HBO cut it out of the final version as it gives too much away about the dog.

Also, at the end of the second episode, when Sookie is in the office with Sam, they clearly focus in, for a moment, on a large picture on the wall behind Sam, of that dog sitting in the grass with a small girl sleeping at his feet. :scratchin

Anyone who wants a link to see the episode, let me know. I don't think I can post it here because of the adult stuff in True Blood, with the swearing & Jason doing his usual stuff. :ssst:

I finally got to see last week's episode- I was in Savannah last week! We just got back yesterday.

OMG- I loved the "scene" with Sookie and Bill:worship: I wish they showed them together more in that episode.:guilty: Bill was not around much.

I was not liking Jason much when the show first began, I know most of you would not agree, but now he is a V addict, I am enjoying his character more.:rotfl2:

Well- I thought I would post a perfect pic for a Vamp thread- I took this in Bonaventure Cemetery last week.

That is a beautiful picture. I'd much rather see more Sookie/Bill than more V-amped up Jason.

I love the lighting coming through the Spanish moss. We went to Savannah last year on our way to Hilton Head. It was just for a day, so we took the trolley tour to get as much in. I really thought it was a beautiful and old city (with lots of yummy food!)

This is a great shot for a vampire movie! You're funny going into a cemetary to take pictures. We have a large cemetary that is the #1 place to go walking for exercise in our town. We went a few weeks ago with Flat Stanley since my nephew had sent him to my DS and we had to take pictures with him, etc. I felt kind of funny having my camera in the cemetary. My thinking was changed when we saw 2 other people, alone, walking in the cemetary taking picutres, too. I've always thought that this cemetary is beautiful with its ornate crypts, but never thought to take my camera before. Some of the crypts look like old castles built into the sides of the hills. Nothing like the ones that you saw, though. Spanish moss has a quality that gives an eerier feeling to the stones.

Absolutely!

Last night, I wasn't smitten with Bill coming out of the ground. Maybe I'm a prude, but kissing a guy who has dirt all over him and then having him put his dirt encrustes parts into me.... blech.... Sweat is one thing, you're exchanging fluids anyway, but I draw the line at dirt.

I liked Amy until she and Jason attacked the vampire with the silver hood. I hope they drain him next week or else it will be the end of Amy (since Jason remains in the books' stories.) I'd like to know what Amy and Jason did for 6 hours!

I liked Eric  in the bathtub. The scenes in Fangtasia next week will be very good. I want to see everything they put together from the book's story on the screen.

The scene at Sookie's table with the kids was like deja vu for me. It is just as I remembered it from the book.

:rotfl2: I had to Google Flat Stanley- I was wondering why you took Stanley to the Cemetery with you:lmao: I do not have kids- can you tell. "Flat Stanley goes to the Cemetery"

When I see a cemetery- all I can see is........beauty. I try and have my camera with me all the times! If I see a cemetery while we are out on the cycle, I will ask DH to stop so I can snap away! I have a shelf in my bookcase with some cemetery pics I shot- I use Picasa to edit them to black and white or sepia and put them in frames! I think cemeteries are the most peaceful places on earth.

OMG- the scenes with Bill and Sookie are getting steamier and steamier!:worship: ITA that when I saw him come out of the ground and start kissing her, I was thinking UGH! BUT- I guess if I just found out my man was alive after thinking her was dead, and he came crawlin' out of the dirt, the dirt on his lips (or anywhere else for that matter:rolleyes1 ) would not phase me:lmao: :rotfl2: :rolleyes1 Dirt would be the last thing on my mind!

I do not like this new tramp that Jason is with:mad: - I feel bad for the vampire they kidnapped!:guilty:

I agree with you. I guess the thing that really sceeves me is why is he SO dirty? He looked like someone coming out of a mine instead of someone coming out of the dirt. Wouldn't the dirt be moist and brush off of him? I guess parts would be dirtier than others, but he was dirty all over. It's not like he was a child playing in the dirt. Vamps are supposed to sleep motionless. So why all that grime?

But, I guess that it's the same thing as with Sookie not being affected by Bill's blood and Jason being massively affected by V. We're not supposed to question it.

I have to watch this episode again--at first, I thought it was Sookie in the bathtub. :lmao: I was talking to the dog so I guess I was distracted.

I did like the scene with Arlene's kids at the table. I really wish they'd focus more on Sookie and less on Jason and Tara.

Oh, and every time you all are talking about Amy, it takes me a minute to realize you aren't talking about me. :rotfl: Yes, it's all about me.

So, should we start speaking of the good Amy (you) and the bad Amy (Jason's GF)? :rotfl: :rotfl:

You've gotta watch Eric in the bathtub!

Okay, I've got a question for those who have read the series.

I just finished the first book and now I'm on chapter 2 of the second. Is the first season of the show just following the first book and adding a bunch of other stuff? Or is the show actually following the series of books and putting some things out of order?

I'm not entirely sure I like the books all that much. I like books that have tons of twists and turns, and last for 800 pages. These seem like a step above a romance novel. Do they get better?

:lmao: I have a friend named Amy, as well. When we're together, I'm called "Tall Amy" and she's "Short Amy." Since I have no way to judge the height of the Amy on True Blood, I'm perfectly okay with being called "Good Amy." I'm not usually called that but I love the internet where people actually think that. ;)

I'm absolutely planning on paying attention the next time I watch it. I didn't figure it out this morning until he spoke and I was a bit confused as to why Sookie's voice was so deep. :rotfl:

The series is adding stuff to the first book which is never mentioned anywhere in the series. Tara is a minor character. V is rarely mentioned in the books. And Jason is showing up WAY too much in the series--you know, for someone that annoys me so much.

The books aren't great literature. They are kind of a step above a romance novel. They're fun and escapist and I've always just kind of accepted them on that level. An easy read--great for when you're travelling or distracted, KWIM? I find them enjoyable but I take them as a fun, light read.
