"The Official 'True Blood' Vampire Thread" ...spoilers included.

This show is going to go much quicker as long as Jason, Bad Amy and Tara have their stupid story lines. I just fast forward through their parts. I really hope this was just a small change in the story and Bubba shows up later.

Were you watching the same episode we were?
What surprise security guard? You mean Chow? You said Sam. So did you mean the dog who turned into a surprise security guard a.k.a. Sam?
The information given on the cable box last night said that there was a surprise guard that Bill requests for Sookie's safety. I knew from the book that Elvis/Bubba was the surprise in the book, but sadly, I also knew that Bubba was not cast for the show. So, when Sam was asked by Bill to watch over Sookie while he was gone, that was supposed to be the surprise, especially seeing whereas they don't get along. For those who did read the book, I'm sure the description of the show would have meant to them that Bubba was going to be introduced as a character. (If they didn't know about the non-casting spoiler.)

So, in order to get Sookie to agree to be watched over, Sam turned into the dog. He knew Sookie would invite the dog into her house even if she didn't make the dog jump up onto her bed. Then, while he was asleep, Sam changed back from the dog to himself. Since the dog didn't have anything on, neither would Sam.

He's got some 'splainin to do next week.

I hope they bring Bubba into the show, too. I really wonder if Graceland had a part in not letting Elvis' image be used in that way even though it was in the books.

I don't know -- I think we still might get to see Bubba.

Spoiler in white:
In the book, didn't Bill bring Bubba back with him after he'd left for a few days? Sookie had already found out Sam was Dean by that point. Bill was away "running for office" or something like that. I don't think he was on trial like he supposedly was in the show. Isn't that right?

I still have hopes for Bubba.

In the book, didn't Eric actually kill Longshadow? Or, was it really Bill? Didn't Sookie get hurt and have to feed off of multiple vampires?

Gee whiz, I'm gonna have to cave and buy the first book so I have a reference.

Yes, in the book, Eric killed Longshadow. Bill went away after having Bubba watch over Sookie. He went to get a higher position in the vampire world so that Eric didn't have power over him to take Sookie away. Before she had met with Eric, she had fed off of Bill to be stronger (just in case.) It helped her fine tune her reading abilities.

See... that's the way it should be.

Reading these recent comments makes me glad I haven't read the books yet. I'm 'one of those people' that gets a little angry when movies deviate so much from books, even if it is a bit irrational on my part!

I already deleted the episode from the DVR, so I can't go re-look, but does anyone remember how many episodes are left? I remember being surprised because it didn't seem like many were left to watch.

Okay, I may have been glamoured by Bill to watch the show, but that would have been too much for me.

Only THREE episodes left!
They did get word, however, that they have been picked up for a second season! :dance3:

Reports are: Anna Pacquin, (Sookie,) has been "visiting" Stephen Moyer (Bill) in England with his kids, while they are on hiatus. I really hope their relationship does not fizzle, as I said before, like Jennifer Garner/Michael Vartan, or there may be a LOT of rewriting and extraneous characters focused on, to cover up for the lack of sizzle in Sookie & Bill.

It wouldn't have been that bad. It would have been like when Bill was letting Sookie drink his blood after the Rattrays beat her up. It would have been sexy having her drink from Bill and Eric in the same session.

I agree with you about that. I hope they have a lifetime of happiness together so they don't screw up the chemistry on our show. :wizard:

Have any of you watched the BloodCopy episodes? I got bored tonight so I watched some of them on On Demand. Pretty entertaining.

I watched them right before the series started. They are pretty good. The only thing that bugs me with on demand is the time it takes to load the programs. I was told by my local Comcast store that some areas have faster receivers and of course, our area has the slower ones. Yay me, living in the Scranton, PA area.

I was just about to give up on this show until last week. I really enjoyed the episode. And my wife was saying all along that "something" was up with Sam.

I am glad that I am watching the TV show as opposed to reading the books... I sat in Border's one day and read a little. I thought it was terrible.

I saw last weeks episode again while it was on.
Okay, a few trivial questions: :teeth:

When Pam was helping Sookie take out the vampire fragment out of her cleavage, does anyone else think Pam was trying to glamour Sookie?

Maybe someone knows this from reading the books: What does Bill do for money? :confused3 He has electricity. He had to pay for the electrician. He brought home dry cleaning the time he found Eric at his home, and he goes to Merlotte's to buy True Blood. :scratchin

Last, what kind of accent is Rene (Arlene's fiance,) supposed to have? I actually looked him up on imdb.com to see where he's from. He's from Michigan and it even said he hired his own dialect coach for True Blood. Is it supposed to be French? If so, that dialect coach should be shot. Is it some Southern-French-Louisiana accent? :confused3

It's not "officially" clear in the books I have read thus far where Bill gets his money. Vampires through the centuries have used their influence, and life longevity, to accrue wealth. They can glamor people to give them money, buy stocks and watch them for decades, make other investments and have the benefit of time to watch them succeed, etc. Bill also has a bit of a job for royalty, but that may come in later.

Rene is supposed to have a French Creole accent I believe.

Gee whiz, I'm gonna have to cave and buy the first book so I have a reference.

I just flipped through the first book because this was driving me crazy, too. Eric did stake Long Shadow. I couldn't find it in the first book but I remember him complaining about having to pay a fine and Eric saying something along the lines of Sookie working for him and thus being under his protection but there wasn't all this hoopla that there is on the show. Who the heck is the magistrate? :confused3

Sookie didn't have to feed off multiple vampires in this one although I do remember it in one of the later books.

And you're right about Bubba. Bubba guards Sookie's house one night. A couple of chapters later, she finds out about Sam.

I was also surprised to find Amy Burley in the book. Her name was on one of the applications that Sookie recommended Sam interview to replace one of the waitresses. She was killed pretty quickly though which is why I didn't remember her at all.

Darn it! I wanted Tara to be nice for longer than 3 minutes, though I enjoyed the part in the pharmacy.

How are they going to ruin the show with Bill's newly turned spawn? UGH! Won't she have to live with someone (i.e. Bill) to learn the ropes of vampiredom?

I don't remember Sookie being so mad at Sam in the books about being a shifter. I thought she was more sympathetic and interested that there were paranormal people other than just vampires.

I was happy that Hoyt finally grew a pair with his mother. He was always shy in the books and was always with Jason, but he wasn't henpecked by his mother.

I think Rene's accent is absolutely horrible. Other people from LA have complained that it isn't authentic, too.

I loved last week when Bill was playing Wii Golf. It reminded me I have to pick up a copy of that for my DS for Christmas so Mommy and Daddy can play it, too. It's the only way I can beat my DH at golf.

Oh, and another thing. I was sad to see Eddie go, though not surprised that Amy would do that to him. Jason needs to move on and give up the V.

I was surprised that Lafayette didn't lay on more of a beating on Jason for getting rid of Eddie. I was surprised that he didn't go to Jason's house to confront him, too.
