So - please join my thread so we can figure out a plan of action on how to attack the Convention and the DHS Last Tour to Endor Party!

I'll make a list of (1) who is going, (2) where you are staying, (3) what days you are going to be at the party, (4) if you are going to convention, party or both; (5) what are your goals to do; and (6) any hints on how to handle each!

For me, my dh, 2 year old DS and I are coming in Thursday evening, staying at POFQ and using the shuttle to get to the convention. We have tix for friday and saturday of the convention and are going to the party too. We leave Sunday.

Our goal is to get into the George Lucas event and to get as many autographs/pix of the biggies as possible. Since this event was a gift to my dh for father's day, I'm going to be the person standing in line while he and my son get to walk around and see things. I'm panicking bc I want to attack the convention DIS style; but am unsure how to do it! I've watched Youtube videos of past conventions and am nervous bc the crowds/lines are HUGE and they are expecting this to be the biggest one yet! If DS gets tired, I will be the one bringing him back to POFQ so dh can enjoy the rest of the day there.

How long does it take to go from POFQ to the Convention!

Join here! I can't wait to talk to you!

We are going to the Last Tour to Endor party on the 14th, but not the convention. We'll be checking into the Beach Club on the 12th and checking out the 15th.

We were just there for Star Wars Weekends on the 13th of June and had a great time. We are definately looking forward to the Last Tour to Endor! :):yoda:

I am not sure yet if I'll be lucky enough to go to this convention, but I've attended 2 of the previous star wars cons, so if you have any very basic questions about what type of events or what to expect at a star wars con I can probably answer them :goodvibes

We have a whole week of activites planned. I am arriving on the 7th and hitting the parks for a few days solo. We are staying at a Days Inn on International Drive. Then my husband will join me on the 10th. We will do another park on the 11th (which happens to be our anniversary). Then convention Thurs-Sun and hitting the parks at night if we feel like it. We are going to the party Sat night. There is also the possibility of the Star Wars Action news party on Thursday night, but we haven't actually decided on that yet. I'm not sure we will be getting a lot of autographs since they cost money. I would like to go to the Lucas event, but understand if we don't make it in. We are mostly going for panels and merchandise.

What's the Star Wars Action news party? Can anyone go?

Star Wars action news is a podcast that my husband listens to. They are having a mixer on Thursday night at a hotel. I can't remember exactly which one right now and my husband just left so I can't ask him. Anyway, he told me today that there are only 25 tickets remaining. This is a ticketed event that costs around $40 a person.

They didn't announce the Last Tour Party untill after I booked our vacation starting on the 15th! So I told my wife we'll just have to leave a day early!!

We are driving down from Indy starting Friday. Probably spend the night somewhere (hate driving all the way through). Get there Saturday, I will buy a POFQ Star Wars room (special price not themed) and two tickets to the party before we go. Go to the party Saturday night. Convention on Sunday, then check into CBR for our Disney vacation.

I've been to the two conventions they had here in Indy, but not the others. I'm mostly looking forward to walking around and getting what "Free" stuff I can from the booths.

Be prepared to purchase tickets to get autographs. Each star requests a different amount of tickets for their autograph. Also, be prepared to stand in very long lines for them. I don't know for sure if this will be the same at this convention but the two here you had to buy tickets.

I agree. DH went CIV in LA in 07 and tickets for autographs did cost anywhere from $20-$75 depending on the person. It is not like Star Wars Weekends where the autographs are free.

I made some shirts for the event for a person that's going (I am from the creative DISign forum). I heard George was going to be there & I love this one so thought I would share it here. :goodvibes

Hey Penny, you were kind enough to make it for me - I need to take pix of the stuff I made from your DISigns to show you - my dh was SOOOO excited and happy - he couldn't even speak! The stuff turned out AMAZING!!!! Thanks again!

Aww I'm so jealous of you guys because we weren't able to go at this time!! Make sure you write some trip reports!!

WOOOOOHOOOO!!!:cool1::dance3:

I just ordered my tickets to CV and Last Tour party!!

I can't wait:cheer2:

(1) I am going with my wife
(2) AK Kidani village
(3) August 14th
(4) Not going to the convention. Just happened to be at WDW for our 20th anniversary as a couple.
(5) Have Fun!
(6) Be there early dressed as a Jedi!

My plans finally became solidified last night when my husband's vacation request was approved! So here is our plan of attack.

1. Me and my husband
2. Days Inn near Universal's Wet N' Wild
3. August 7-15
4. Both
5. Disney and the convention
6. It's my first convention so I need the tips.

The plan is for me to fly in on the 7th and do a couple days of Disney solo. Then my husband meets up with me on the 10th. Our anniversary is the 11th and we will spend it at Disney. Then the convention the 12-15th with nights at Disney if time allows. We are going to the Star Wars Action News/Yakface party/mixer on the 12th and the Last Tour to Endor Party on the 14th.

(1) Me and my boyfriend!
(2) We're staying at the Econolodge on International Drive.
(3) We're going to every day of the convention. We're going to be in Orlando from the 10th to the 25th.
(4) We're doing the convention and the party. Also going to the Forcecast fan party on the Thursday night.
(5) We're more looking forward to events/talks/etc than autograph collecting. My boyfriend has a list of things he wants to buy too!
(6) This is my first convention so any hints will be appreciated!

RadioFanatic, how did your DH like the Father's Day surprise? :)

He was absolutely shocked and stoked. He was speechless! He just kept looking at the materials and saying really? He can't wait to go and everyday our DS 2 asks "is star wars today?" It's really nice to have it to look forward to!

Just to let you all know.......

I was curious about the complimentary transportation from POFQ to the convention so I called Disney.

My question was, is the transportation provided for Saturday only or is it for the duration of the convention?

Their answer was that complimentary transportation was being provided as 1 trip there and 1 trip return per day. The CM said that transportation would be explained when we check in.

I was looking forward to using the Disney transportation, since I will be spending so much time driving to WDW. I may consider driving to the convention myself. :confused3

I'm also curious what some of you may think. Is there anyone staying at POFQ for the Last Tour to Endor party and convention? And what were your plans as far as getting to the convention?

I'm staying at POFQ and this first piece of news makes me VERY unhappy. I specifically picked there because of the transportation. Nowhere does it say it's only once in the am and once at night. I have a 2 year old and was intending to leave midday with him while dh stayed the rest of the day. Now what am I supposed to do? I don't want to take a taxi or rent a car bc I didnt want to have to worry about a carseat.
