Well, after reading many threads about the "MUGS" and "MUG POLICE" I decided to e-mail Disney directly to get the official answer to questions.

Can I use my mug for life?, Can I use it at other resorts?

Well here is the reply I received from disney.

Dear MouseMan,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

That was a crazy question! Just kidding. :-)

It is a topic that comes up a lot here too. The official word is that the mugs are to be used only
for the length of stay during that visit. Mugs are only good for refills at the resort that you
purchased them at with the exception of the All Stars. Mugs purchased at the All Star resorts may
be use at either Sports, Movies or Music.

Unofficially, if the style of the mug has not changed and it still looks like new, we are not going
to send the refillable mug police after you.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if applicable on all
correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

WDW Online Communications

The problem with the mugs isn't the "official" rules, its the CMs at the resorts. Many of us were told when we were encouraged to buy our mugs by the resort's CMs that they were good for life. And at the time there were no signs up to contradict this information. If WDW would just train the CMs not to give guests false information it would never have been an issue on the boards. ;)

Is there different mugs for sister resorts like POR and POFQ? Can you use the same one at both? I was told we could use either pool, I hope it goes for the mugs also.

I HIGHLY doubt that this is an authentic response form Disney. In all the email responses I have gotten they have only every given "cookie cutter" answers. No unofficially or "thats a silly question" comments. Sorry to be so suspecious but something just does seem right.

Regarding POR and POFQ, I was told since they are sister resorts, you can use both pools and refillable mugs are good at both resorts! :cool1:

I thought the 'refillable mug police' comment seemed very out of character too. But if the OP sent the email to Disney- it seems that only Disney could have responded. (The 'That's a Silly Question" comment may have been a joke from Mouse Man)

Hmmmmm . . . Frankly, I could care less whether any reuses their refillable mug or not on their next visit, but the sign at every hotel I have been to states that the mugs are good for legnth of stay only.

But, when we returned a few weeks ago, my grandmother (83 years old) gave our limo driver her mug and told him he could use it for free soda if he was ever at WL. , She then said that the nice woman who rang her up told her that! LOL :earboy2:

No wonder there is so much confusion!

For those of you who still don't believe that Disney sent that reply to me Click Here to see the original email

I don't "buy" that linked email either sorry. In this day and age it is way to easy to "fake" that too.

I agree, the post sure doesn't read like it came from Disney. I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, the wording sure sounds like what cm's have been orally telling guests.

I'll still give you the benefit of the doubt and just call your post a hoax and a decent joke.

The alleged e-mail says it was sent SUNDAY at 10:37a. I doubt the guest services that respond to E-Mail work on Saturday let alone Sunday.

OK Whatever, if you don't believe me then so be it. You know you can always send a email yourself. I thought I was being a nice guy and trying to help people out. to those of you who found this helpful you are very welcome. To those of you who don't believe me to he!! with you.

By the way if you know anythng about Outlook email. The date and time are the time it was received into my mailbox (when I read it). Which was on Sunday. Not the date & time it was sent.

I agree - Disney is much more formal than this.

I don't know. Call me niave, but I believe MouseMan.

The version of Outlook Express that I'm using shows the date and time the message was sent not when it was read. Not sure, nor does it really matter, what version you're using.

Like I said I think it's a nice hoax/joke, probably by you, but possibly by a bored CM. The wording matches what many CM's tell guests but certainly isn't worded the way official Disney, boilerplate language e-mail would be worded.

The official Disney position is stated in signs that are located near the drink dispensers. An official Disney response would be worded similarly. Like I said it might be from a bored CM that frequents internet boards.

Really doesn't matter much, there really isn't much debate that the current policy is free soda for all. I think you can count on one hand the number of people who posted being asked not to use wrong mugs.

It doesn't matter if the email is real or not. Other people have emailed Disney and received the same kind of response.

Hookairs?

Subject: Mug Question

We are pleased you have chosen to stay with us again in the WDW resort family. I referred your question on the refillable mug to the overall resort manager and his response was "tell them they are here on vacation to have a good time." I insisted that he specifically address your question since you were quite concerned that Disney was being ripped off and he finally suggested that perhaps you would be happier to mind your own business.

Hope that helps. Have a Disney Day!

Well, sounds as if WorldlyWise might be hoaxing us as well, or have gotten the same CM as MouseMan. :) (This is supposed to be sarcasm.)
