The Official POLYNESIAN VILLAS & BUNGALOWS Owners and Fans info thread

Just saw videos of the new rooms here. What’s up with only having one sink in the studios? This was a brand new build. That’s pretty unacceptable for a new building

If you've stayed at IT in the past two weeks, I am curious about your experience on three topics:

1) How has bus transportation to DHS/AK been? Any capacity issues?

2) Have any of the legacy areas become overly-crowded now (specifically, Lava pool or Capt Cooks)? Obviously, Lava pool was never a barren wasteland, but has it gone beyond "tolerable" now?

3) How crowded was that upper-floor, theme park view lounge area (I don't recall what they are calling it) during fireworks? It seems like that might be a popular spot.

Can only answer the second question. Because this time of year is cooler for some, we noticed pools at Riviera and Polynesian (Lava, Oasis, and new pool) were not busy at all. However, this is not the time of year to get a true feeling for it.

After Island Tower opened, we found Capt Cooks, Tammy Lounge, and other locations to be quieter than the days just before it opened. We chalked it up to people visiting Island Tower and Wailulu. Wailulu was ridiculous the first day. After that, the next 3 days were not bad. One thing to beware of, weekends tend to be busier than weekdays (Poly draws in locals).

I was there for several days over New Years (have done Poly most New Years since 2016ish). Seemed like same ol’ Poly experience to me - buses, monorail, pool all business as usual. I will say Captain Cooks was incredibly busy, almost unbearably so - that was my only real complaint. But frankly it’s often like that so not sure any different?

IT grounds make for a more crowded vibe/buzz to that side of the resort - that’s not a bad thing, but just different.

I didn’t try any of the garden terraces for fireworks so can’t comment.

Had a great stay.

Spent one night in a studio at IT Thursday. Loved it! The rooms a great and well designed with a solid kitchenette. I had a resort view that overlooked the chapel and the castle so had a good view of firework. Obviously it’s January but nothing was crowded. Plenty of space at the pool and in the small view points upstairs. One knock is I always hate hotels that require you to use your card in the elevator to get upstairs, especially when your hands are full of luggage. The benefit is there weren’t any non guests at the balconies upstairs.

Is there a place at the tower to get mug refills?

Yes, there are two freestyle Coke machines and a wash station in a little cubby area next to the fitness center/pool restrooms. You do have to go outside to access this area. There is no coffee or other hot beverages, just the freestyle machines.

From what I saw last week they opened the roll up doors at 7am each day.

Hope that helps!

Thanks

Can you get coffee (for the mugs) at Wailulu Grill? Or do you have to walk to Captain Cooks?

That’s a good question - they do have coffee urns for the coffee you buy and it’s just steps away. I’d think if it were an option for mugs they’d be refilling the coffee urns constantly, but I’m not sure? I didn’t see anyone refilling a coffee mug there, but I’ll defer to others who may know for sure.

Staying at the Island Tower next month. For anyone who's already been or stayed, if you need any type of front desk help or check-in, that's still in the Great Ceremonial House?

Luggage services.. does the tower have its own or is this also at GCH?

Curious about parking too. I'm guessing there's parking closer to the tower and it's own entrance from the outside?

Can anyone tell me how many Penthouse (2br) rooms there are ? I asked member services, but they did not know. Im on the waitlist...

There are CMs in the lobby walking around with iPads who can help with most things like check-in, magic band/key card issues, room assignments and bell services/luggage storage. The tower itself has its own bell services but your stuff can be sent/kept in either the tower or GCH. And yes, the tower has its own parking area right out front. It’s a really compact and self sufficient tower for the most part. Have an amazing trip!

Anyone know if the lake view studios in Moorea have a mini fridge with freeze or just the beverage cooler? See mixed reviews of some rooms have one or the other.
