The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

so it looks like there is some type of egyptian temple.. wonder if the underground Ben was in is at the bottom of the statue we saw?

anyone read Hieroglyphics? :rotfl:

I enjoyed it but it always leaves me wanting (and wondering) more!!! I'm always sad when it's over.

I think Witmore is more evil than Ben, at least right now that's what I'm thinking.

Well, we now know somethings up with the Ilana and those guys. Maybe they work for Witmore.

I sure hope they tell us someday why Richard never ages but everyone else does....and why he's not the one in charge.

I'm so very glad Penny and Desmond (and Charlie) are safe. :)

I cannot wait for the next few episodes but especially the finale.

I thought it was interesting that they showed how Ben doesn't kill children. He is full of so much evil but he has some standards.

I also really liked how Locke's confidence irritated the crap out of Ben. :lmao:

Very interesting show. Ben is just the best written character on TV, that's for sure.

I liked how shocked Ben was when Sun showed him a picture of the losties at Dharma in the 70's.....he had no idea or recollection of them.......verrrrry interesting......guess this means they don't 'stay' there till young Ben gets back from being healed by the others.

.
Excited that Miles gets to 'do his thing' next week. I wonder who's in the body bag that he 'talks' to?

.

Whew! Looks like Desmond, Penny and Charlie are ok (at least for now, you never know with this show). Way to go Desmond!:thumbsup2

The rest of the show was kind of confusing. All this build-up of "Ben must atone for his sins" and that was it??:confused3 I really expected more than just the whole Alex story; with how evil Ben is, he's got a LOT more to atone for than just Alex! Smokey's letting him go with a slap on the wrist??

I think leaving him alive WAS the punishment. They are letting him live knowing that his actions killed Alex.

Oooh, I forgot about that part of the show. So either the Losties are gone from Dharmaville by the time young Ben is healed and sent back, or somehow the Losties DID change the past.;)

Sorry....I just had to throw that in there for all the "what happened, happened" and "you can't change the past" believers out there!:lmao:)

What's with Ilana and her thugs and the guns? "What's in the shadow of the statue?" Does that mean that the statue is still standing and complete? If so, that would mean that the Flight 316 survivors are NOT in 2007, but in some other time when the statue was whole and not just a foot like Sun and Sayid found when they sailed about the island in 2004.

And what's in that big crate? Did they get it from the plane, or did they find it on the island?

I took the whole "what lays in the shadow of the statue" as code. Kinda like Desmond and the whole snowman thing he said to Locke when he first saw him. So, if was part of them he would have known the response. I think they are in 2007 and it was just some sort of code.

However, what the heck is going on with them? Are they with Whitmore? Who else would have had the knowledge that this flight was going to crash on this island? Is this another attempt by Whitmore to destroy the island? Instead of going in with guns blazing he attempts to sneak some people on?

Glad Ceasar is dead though, he was getting on my last nerve!! :rotfl:

Also, it seems that Dharma gave them a bogus reason as to why the body bag person is dead. Little did they know that Miles could get the real truth. ;)

OMG!! :scared1: i just realized that we are all guessing that maybe Miles is the baby of the Dharma video guy. Didn't they show them together last night in the previews? How freaky would that be if it really is his son.

So glad that Des, Penny and Charlie are safe!!!:yay::yay::yay: I was worried there for a minute. Now I'm just counting the days till their boat crashes into the island. :rotfl2:

What the heck was up with Frank? Um, it's the middle of the night on a freaky island and you are just going to abandon a safe place to row across the water in the dark? Yeah, that made lots of sense. :headache:

Oh, and who knew that you summoned smokey by letting the water out of the bathtub? :rolleyes1

Oh, and who knew that you summoned smokey by letting the water out of the bathtub? :rolleyes1
:rotfl2: I thought that was hilarious!

I really hope Miles doesn't die. I kind of like him. :thumbsup2

I think they said in the preview that everyone is going to know their purpose for being on the island. Should be interesting.

I'm now officially hooked on Lost. I've been watching since the last part of season four. Now, I'm catching up by watching the previous seasons and Lostpedia.

I am so RELIEVED that Penny didn't die (yet, anyway). I'm confused though - is Ben really that evil, or just kind of evil? Is that even possible? After last night's episode you definitely get the feeling that he's slightly more compassionate than Widmore. But, still...I'm still confused.

I was so happy to see Locke in this episode! He's one of my favorite characters. Maybe it was nothing, but I thought it was strange how Locke disappeared twice last night. First, when Ben went outside waiting for Smokey. Second, right after Ben tumbled through the floor under the temple. Is there some connection b/c Locke and Smokey now? Or, am I just reading too much into that??

Oh, and where the heck is Daniel??? I thought Jack asked Sawyer (when he picked them up in the Dharma van) about Faraday and Sawyer told him he was on the island. Did he mean in the 70's or in the current time? So confused...

I loved last night's episode!!

Love how the power has switched from Ben to Locke

Can't wait for next week:dance3:

I noticed that too. You just never know with this show. I really want to know where Locke went the first time he disappeared.

Wow!!
I am really getting tired of the Losties never asking any questions!! Sun tells Ben that Locke left because he had to do something, but she didn't bother to ask him what or where he was going. Christian tells Sun and Lapidus to wait in Alex's room until John Locke comes to see them, but Sun knows that Locke is dead, but she still sits there and waits.:rolleyes1

I agree, it is annoying that they dont' ask questions. But then again, if they did it would be less of a mystery to us and not so entertaining or addidctive.

I def think the 316 survivors are in 2007 because they found Ben's office.

Also wondering about the crate :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: ??? An evil person with standards??

Ben is a liar. Just because he said he didn't know they were dharming it up in the 70's doesn't make it so.

Also wondering about the body in the bag? Could it be Sayid?

I think leaving him alive WAS the punishment. They are letting him live knowing that his actions killed Alex.
Hmmm. Interesting....

Yes, I agree it was code but still don't know who Ilana is working for. Maybe Eloise? :confused3

I wonder if Miles and baby Miles have an interaction and that causes the incident? :confused3

And DH thought it was a toilet!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yes, Ben is really Evil! You would be too if you worshiped Anibus - the Egyptian god of death http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/egypt/anubis.htm

I also wondered where he went when Locke disappeared in the jungle. I still stick to my theory that Locke was taken by smokey to the underground temple in season 1. That is when he changed. It also explains how he knew where smokey lived and how to get there.

Daniel was with the other losties in the 70's. Sawyer said that he is no longer with them but we don't know what that means. I think it may mean he is no longer with us in mind ~ that his body is there but he went crazy. OR he could have left the island to go back to Oxford to try to experiment with time travel. That would explain some of the photos we have seen of him off island.

I thought he was there when the smoke monster took The French woman's friend into that hole when they were skipping around in time? Or was it the other losties and not him?

That was Jin when he was still by himself.

So, I started to think that maybe Ben wasn't as evil as we all thin he is, and then Alex comes and says "I know you are planning on killing John again" and that blows that all out of the water for me! Though it was good to see that he actually let Danielle live and saved Alex - not at all what I thought had happened.

And did anyone else think smokie was laughing at Ben? I swear it sounded like it was laughing at him when it went back down in its hole! Creepy!!

And Ben seemed pretty messed up when Desmond threw him in the water - I wonder how he got out? SO GLAD they are all all right though!

Overall I thought it was a good episode - not my favorite - but overall pretty good!

I think your Locke theory sound very plausible. Obviously, Locke has some deeper connection to the island. Why would Richard visit him when he was younger? Why doesn't Locke stay dead? Why did Locke know where Smokey was? Yeah...I think Smokey changed him.

Ah, thanks for (somewhat) clearing up the Daniel thing. I'm still curious to see what actually happened to him. I'm not a fan of his, but I really want to know where he is for some reason.

so it looks like there is some type of egyptian temple.. wonder if the underground Ben was in is at the bottom of the statue we saw?

anyone read Hieroglyphics? :rotfl:

DH (the former archaeologist) says they were not real Egyptian hieroglyphics, although they were similar. Perhaps Sumerian, or more likely "hey these let's use these vaguely egyptian random symbols in our show's set."

However, when I saw the picture over the altar I said, "Well, that's interesting, it looks like Anubis (Egyptian god of the dead and the underworld) talking to the smoke monster." DH insisted that the other individual was Apophis (Egyptian god of destruction or more accurately "non-being"), who is depicted as a snake. So, we're taking it as Smokie=Apophis.

Is Ben or Widmore evil?? I think it's more of a question as to who is more evil. We've seen what Ben is capable of and it seems the islands punishment is for him to lose control of things and have to follow Locke. :) As for Widmore, all we have to do is listen to Penny. She obviously has some issues with him and it sounds like more that just what he did to Des.

What's in the heavy box? An ancient statue? An induced comatose Widmore? A giant magnet? ........ I think that they are Widmore's people, he just had that planning look when he heard that Ben was going back to the island.

Favorite line from last night.. Ben "I just didn't have enough time to talk you back into killing yourself"

Very interesting show. Ben is just the best written character on TV, that's for sure.

.
Well written and well played! He's an awesome actor. I just can't imagine anyone else being Ben.

I'm confused though - is Ben really that evil, or just kind of evil? Is that even possible? After last night's episode you definitely get the feeling that he's slightly more compassionate than Widmore. But, still...I'm still confused.

That's the million dollar question :rotfl:

Did anyone become suspicious of Frank last night? I thought he was acting strange.

I'm really interested in Ilana (?whatshername?). I've felt all along she never planned to take Sayid to Guam, was it? I just thought she was working for Ben, as a way to get Sayid back since he wouldn't go voluntarily.

When Ben was seeing the faces in the smoke I kept thinking "there's no place like home." :teeth: It reminded me of the Wizard of Oz.

All this talk about the Egyptian gods, and I recognize most of the names from Stargate. :lmao: When Ben looked at the writing in the temple and the drawing of the god, it was so Stargate!

I have to agree that the best line was Ben's "I didn't have time to talk you back into killing yourself". That episode really gave the actor an opportunity to show a wide range of emotions.

How many more episodes is there this season?
