The *OFFICIAL JUNE 2011 THREAD* "Some Like it Hot" & Some Like it Even Hotter! Part 2

HEY June crew!!!

We just got back at midnight last night and we had a BLAST!!! Can't wait to go back and do it all again!!! :cloud9:

I will get my photo safari pics up asap!!! :thumbsup2

I am FINALLY all packed (except my computer - I still work online PT SMH). I got checked in online with AirTran, printed boarding cards.

No starting to have any fun, until after 5. I have a training at 1-4:30 (hope to get out early - we will see about that). Then I have to pick the kids up from my moms house then pick dh up. Then we can get home get the kids in bed and prepare for this 3:30 AM wake up time and be ready for the shuttle at 4:20 AM. Long early days coming. At least we get to end it with the cruise :thumbsup2

Leaving tomorrow!! :banana::dance3::cheer2::woohoo::yay:

To those of you worried about the heat: really it's not bad in the mornings & there's been a breeze to help things along. But by early afternoon , like 2-4, it's all but unbearable! Might be amplified by the fact that this is the time when the crowds peak! So take the break or have a late lunch! :wizard: As far as the crowds, only MK June 8 was horrendous. I even spotted several tour groups. Of course this is the smallest, most concentrated park so the crowds don't disperse like they do at Epcot. We did RD on our 1st MK day & early a.m. EMH on our AK day, both were great days!:yay: Riding the first Safari of the morning at AK was amazing!:woohoo: I agree the PP who said the wait times for Soarin were skewed by the RD crowds. We arrived just after RD & the lines app had Soarin at 120 min standby, but by 10am it was down to 45min.

Welcome back! Can't wait to see.

Thanks for all the great info!!

Kahlee45 it was great to meet you guys! It amazed me how well our DD's got along! it will be a memory that will last! :grouphug:

I will be posting pics soon! And my DD16 worked diligently on keeping notes of our trip so that she can write a trip report! :thumbsup2

Well we are leaving late this afternoon...we will stop off in Georgia near the Florida state line to spend the night. Then off to KSC on the 14th, Sea World 15th-16th and finally going home to Pop on the 17th!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:
Glad to hear the live trip reports as well but they worry me a little! We've never done a full week at Disney in the summer...only one day to MK last year when we did Sea World. I hope we won't be overwhelmed with the crowds/heat since we've always gone in the fall before!

we too have mostly gone in the fall. Heat is about the same. Seems really crowded to us. At MK ope drop this am. The area in front was jamed packed. I had never seen it like that before. That said we are still having a blast.

It's 11:15 and I'm supposed to be asleep for rope drop at MK tomorrow, but the DALLAS MAVERICKS JUST WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP so we're still awake!

We are Cleveland Cavalier fans (also known lately as Maveliers ) and we are so happy the Mavericks won:woohoo:. Too bad LeBron::happytv:

We leave Friday:yay:. I already started picking out my clothes and I have a list of things that might be forgotten ie glo sticks, mister fan, blister block, playing cards, etc. I work Mon-Fri until 3 so hope I get everything done. DD's 19th b.day is tomorrow and her DBF is coming over for a couple nights. I also want to get the house clean, and of course there is always laundry:laundy: We've gone to Disney several times so I should have the packing down to a science. A little worried about the weather forecast as it says rain now, but not sure how accurate that can be so far in advance.

Okay, so remember how yesterday I said that Epcot crowds were nothing? Well, that was not the case today. We went to MK today and WOW. I have never seen so many people in my life!!

Touring Plans just changed MK from a neutral park to a park to avoid for today. But since I already had plans and ADRs I didn't want to go changing everything on what I thought was a whim. After all, there are no EMHs at MK today so my thinking was that TP must be wrong. Nope, they were right. Lots of big groups (you can tell by all the matching T-shirts) and today seemed to be the first day of a lot of people's vacations and of course they went to MK.

We got there a tad late- we were going through bag check as the opening ceremony was happening. Not the worst thing in the world, but that's the result of staying up late after the Mavs win :D It was also very hot. Just be prepared to be a sweaty mess all day. Second day of no relief from an afternoon storm.

Here's what we got done this morning:
-Carousel (walk on)
-Splash Mountain FP
-Princess Tiana meet and greet (This was huge for us. We got in line at 9:15 and saw her at about 9:50. Thre was no way we would miss it. )
-Mickey's Philharmagic (walk on)
-Peter Pans FP (with surprise Philharmagic FPs)
-Small World (5 minutes)
-Tea Party (15 minutes)
-Lunch at CHH
-Hanted Mansion (15 minutes)
-BTMRR FP

We left the park at 1pm. Crowds and heat were just too much, were were getting grumpy. We plan to use our FPs this evening, maybe do Pirates in standby and watch the parades and fireworks. We missed out on Dumbo (I refuse to stand in the hot sun for 45 minutes for that) so maybe we can catch it this evening. We have another MK day on Wednesday to do Tomorrowland.

Fantasyland is just a mess in the morning. Soooo many people, no shade, etc. But when DH went to get Splash FPs he said that part of the park was empty, both Splash and BTMRR were walk on for an hour or so. I hate to say it but I can't wait until we're not bound by Fantasyland. All those slow loaders, all those strollers. Ugh. But the kids love it.

Last thing before my nap... The upstairs area of CHH is the best kept secret in WDW. So nice and serene up there. Almost always emptty, at 11:30 we were one of three families up there. Great place to recharge.

It is SO hard to be thisclose to Disney and not be going anywhere near it til Thursday!!! Our first park is MK on Friday. I also just bought myself a pass to IoA and Universal for Wednesday to help pass the time until then!

one week to go!! packing is pretty much done.. lots of lovely new clothes to wear :goodvibes

I've ordered our grocery shop for the day we fly home.. hate thinking about the trip being over, but really don't like going to the supermarket when we're jet-lagged :cutie:

this time next week we should be on our way to Kidani Village!! :yay:

Sounds like you guys are having fun! I feel like June and July are always full of people all the time and hot. We love the summer time. I don't know what Disney is like without crowds. :rotfl: Thanks for the updates. It's great hearing about your plans and travels. I can imagine everything that is going on. I love it. Makes the wait a little easier.

Next Tuesday needs to hurry up and get here...maybe then I will stop shopping for our trip!:scared1:

I feel the same way. I have bought some much stuff that I won't have any money to spend when we get there. :rotfl2:

9 1/2 hours until flight departure..... What is that, like 570 minutes? :cool1:

Have a great time!

It is SO hard to be thisclose to Disney and not be going anywhere near it til Thursday!!! Our first park is MK on Friday. I also just bought myself a pass to IoA and Universal for Wednesday to help pass the time until then!

I don't know how you can do it. I feel like I eat, breathe, and dream Disney at this point and just can't wait!

I can't wait to get to Kidani either! Friday of next week can't come fast enough. Emma, I hope you have a great wedding. If it's anything like the wedding I went to this weekend, I am sure it will be awesome. We had such a good time.

I am just now getting to report since coming back late Friday night. It was very hot every day with no rain to cool it down. Crowds were huge. Get to the parks as early as possible. Try to be in line way before opening. Friday we went to Epcot and they did not let anyone go though the ticket station until 8 am (EMH). We did not get through the ticket station until 8:15. So by the time we got to Soaring it was already a 20 min. wait. We next went to Test Track with 10 min wait.

We were drained by 12. everyday because of the heat. We had to go back for a nap. Just do your best to stay cool and get inside when you can. Utilize the fast-passes. They will help you from standing in line in the heat. In Animal Kingdom this is essential. It was still a fun time at Disney just hot. I think next time we go it will not be in the summertime.

I hope everyone going soon has fun and stays cool(if possible).

Agree with Dallas Lady. We went to frontier land at rope drop and got right on splash. Got a FP in the process. Went to BTMRR and got right on. Then to HM 15 mins. Back for FP standby was 55 min. Downhill from there. Gooing back for parade and fireworks in a few mins. Will se what the ride situation is at that time. Using the phone to post so won't go into too much detail.

:cool1::cool1: We start our journey in about 13 hours. We'll be on Disney property about 36 hours from now!:cool1:

Today was my day off...thought I'd get stuff done...but it was crazy busy. DH and I put the kids on the bus at 8am, had a quick breakfast, attended awards ceremonies at the kids' school from 9am to 10:30am, then I had a doctor's appointment at 11:30am, then had to do some shopping, got home at 1:30pm, got kids off bus at 1:45pm and took them to the dentist where they all had checkups/cleanings, went right from dentist to hair cuttery and had their hair chopped off :rotfl: then home. Packed the kids' clothes quickly...then went to dinner. Then the rest of the evening I finally got around to packing...didn't have time to go over what I packed so hope I got all I needed! :confused3

Now it's 11pm, the car is packed for the most part. Tomorrow I will head to the school at 7:30am to help setup for the 9am 5th grade promotion ceremony for my DS 11. Then from there, DH will hightail it home, get the dog, take her to the kennel. I will come home and pack the cooler and prepare the kids...who still don't know we are leaving tomorrow. :confused3 How I have no idea as much as we've been talking to other people about it! We hit the road by noon, should be at AutoTrain station by 1:30pm and on the train not too long after that!

WHEW! :lmao:

It's been a stressful day here, DH is all stressed out about the packing thing as usual...we so need to get this vacation started so we can all relax!!
