The *OFFICIAL JUNE 2011 THREAD* "Some Like it Hot" & Some Like it Even Hotter! Part 2

Have a safe trip. I don't know about there but gas here has dropped below $3.50. But it's usually 20 cents a gallon higher in Florida. :sad1: But here's to lower gas prices!:yay:

where I live in GA it's about $3.55. When we were in FL last week it was about $3.60-$3.70... considering that a couple weeks ago it was $4.00 here, I was happy to pay $3.70 in Florida!

:cool1::cool1::cool1: We leave in FIVE DAYS!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:
I love reading the reports about packing, getting ready to leave and the Photo Safari so far was just a GREAT way to get psyched up about the trip! I am HOPING we can also wander into Beaches and Cream and get a photo just like the one there with all of us! :thumbsup2

So sad hearing about all of the sick kids here and I'm afraid we are also a part of that group. My daughter has been battling headaches for a LONG time now...I finally got fed up in April and made an appointment to talk with her pediatrician about it. That was the start of a long journey that we are still, unfortunately, on right now. So far in the last two months she was diagnosed with strep (and she had no symptoms of it at all!)...was treated for that with an antibiotic she was supposed to be allergic to...but did not have a reaction thankfully. Then the headache did not go away...and she had an MRI done. Showed normal...but possible sinus issues. We got an appointment with an ENT that would have been this week...but her headaches got worse so I called one morning and got a next day early morning ENT appointment. We did a full blood panel for allergy testing and he put her on prescription sinus spray...and my pediatrician also called in another steroid and antibiotic. She took both of those...and has done the spray for just over two weeks now with no change...and in fact she's gotten WORSE! We thought we were dealing with sinus headaches...but yesterday morning I took her BACK to the pediatrician because she's been up late for several nights this week due to headaches...did I mention she is EIGHT? This was another doc in my pediatrician practice...I LOVE her...she took in all of our test results and history and did some testing herself, ordered bloodwork to check for lyme disease...and has decided she is dealing with migraines. So we are now on TWO more medications to hopefully help. She took both last night but the one that was supposed to be more instant help didn't seem to help as much as we hoped. We noticed a little change in how long she sufferred last night before finally sleeping...just before 10pm! The other drug is actually a low dose of a mild antidepressant so it will take time to build into her system and they may need to adjust the dosage in two weeks if it doesn't seem to be helping.

We just couldn't see going on vacation and not having SOME way to TRY to help her with her headaches! How fun will that be to have headaches for 11 days on vacation? I don't know...we'll see. Good news is that we'll be spending every hour of every day with her so we'll know if she has any reactions, we can continue to document her headaches (we have been doing that already) as well as when they happen and how often. So we'll see.

I was obviously hoping by this time we'd have her doing better but I'm hopeful that this will help. We took her out to dinner last night just because she's been through SO much lately and she's done so well with it.

Finger crossed that she is still able to enjoy herself next week when we go on vacation!
:confused3

My dh and I realized that cost for gas for our trip actually won't be much higher than what we normally spend. everyone we tell we are driving always exclaims over high price in gas (then, of course recognize it is much cheaper than flying with a family of 5). We spend about $100 a week on gas here in chicago. We just filled up at $4.33, which is actually pretty cheap compared to what we've seen in recent weeks. We anticipate filling up 4 times total on the drive there and back. Plus the gas is cheaper down south. So our cost for gas will probably only cost $200ish more than we'd normally spend in 2 weeks. Not too bad!

We leave tomorrow!:banana::banana: We won't get to our resort till Sunday, but are visiting friends along the way. It is our first time driving to WDW and I'm a bit nervous.:car: I'm not a fan of long car rides, but it was drive or don't go....so I chose to drive. :) Our kids have no idea we are going! They think they are just going to ride along with daddy as he does his work travels. I can not wait to see their expressions!!! :jumping1:

Just checking in! Glad to see everyone so excited about their trips.

Anyone else getting nervous about the weather?:scared1:

Printed our boarding passes this morning so less then 24 hrs till takeoff. Looking at our countdown calendar it also says one so it must be almost time to go. On weather.com our temp was 57 and WDW was 84. We will be in for a shock.:cheer2::cool1::yay::yay:

You and your poor kid! My husband has had headaches since he was a kid and went through a ton of tests that came up inconclusive. He now takes meds for migraines. Headaches suck.:hug:

We r on the road now to Disney world. We are driving thru the night so we will get there tomorrow afternoon. Meeting up with some family tomorrow night for dinner them checking into POP on Friday morning. I'm so excited!

We might have a chance to leave a day early and I'm torn as to what to do. If we leave a day early then that will be two night in a hotel before POP and we will probably be in Florida a day early so I am not sure if finding a hotel for one night will be that easy. On the bright side we will have an entire day on Monday to do a park rather then just a half day.:cool1: Oh what to do?:confused3

 ONLINE CHECK-IN TODAY!

Whoohoo!!! 7days to Florida, 10days to Disney

The counting down is getting so exciting!!!

Our DD started having migraines at age 7. She is now 21. Looking back, they started after we moved to a house on a well. They lessened when we moved off of that property 9 years later. In hindsight makes me wonder if it was something in the water or maybe her diet. We went to a neurologist he just gave us meds that didn't work. In 8th grade she missed 5 weeks of school due to migraines. We did send her on her trip to Wash DC in the midst of that headache hoping a change of pace might of helped. She did enjoy that trip migraine and all.

anjalee6 Is everyone healthy again?
Yeah, she is doing better. Thanks for asking. She went back to daycare today.

Tomorrow is the day! Just one load of laundry and pack up the car...pick up the DW after she gets off work and off we go!

Three drivers...900 miles...stops for food gas and...let's say rest, lol. We will be in Orlando on Friday morning!!!!!!!!:dance3:

Hope to see some of you there! We have made "Do you DIS?" buttons and will be wearing them so if you see us say hello!!!!

Have a great trip everyone that is leaving tomorrow. :car: Safe travels and be sure to report back to us when you return.

Just got back today!! It is very hot there and very crowded. I can't believe how crowded it is. It was pretty exhausting so I recommended taking lots of little breaks inside air conditioned rooms. We had a good time and I will be doing a food review so I will put a link to that in here.
