The *OFFICIAL JUNE 2011 THREAD* "Some Like it Hot" & Some Like it Even Hotter! Part 2

I just did online check-in!!! So excited!

I haven't added our plan yet, so here we go:

6/1 Epcot/check-in day: Breakfast on the road, QS lunch (probably Sunshine Seasons), Biergarten for dinner

6/2 Magic Kingdom: 11:30 LTT lunch, QS dinner (CHH???) This is EMH morning so we're going to tour hard starting in Fantasyland until lunch, then head back to the resort after lunch. Make our way back for dinner and more fun. :cool1:

6/3 Animal Kingdom: 8am Tusker House Breakfast, Make sure to see the Lion King show, snack for lunch (jalapeno cheese pretzel!!!), Parade at 3:45, Dinner at Yak and Yeti 5:15. No mid-day break here. Sticking it out until dinner.

6/4 Epcot: Hit the Character Spot at rope drop (send DH for Soarin' fastpasses), breakfast at Sunshine Seasons, QS lunch, 5:35 Rose and Crown dinner. Not sure if we'll take a break this day. May just try to stay until dinner and then call it an early night. This is our only full Epcot day and we love it so much that I don't want to short change it.

6/5 Magic Kingdom: 8:05 Crystal Palace breakfast, tour hard until lunch, QS lunch, then head back to the resort. Tori can swim, Addi and Nana can nap. QS dinner late then head back to the park for some more rides and Wishes and Parade. We plan on this being a late night. We're letting the girls dictate when we head back for the night. I think I'm most excited about this day....

6/6 Resort Day: 9:55 CRT brunch, Shop around Main Street (but not for too long), head back to the resort. 6:00 Raglan Road Dinner shop around DTD before or after depending on how tired we are from the night before.

6/7 Resort Day: No plans, just 5:40 Cape May dinner ADR

6/8 Magic Kingdom: No ADRs, No plans.

6/9 Magic Kingdom: QS lunch, 7:00 1900 ADR mid-day break to refresh and get ready for dinner.

6/10 Animal Kingdom: 1:00 Tusker House lunch (Finding Nemo Package), We might actually try to get to Finding Nemo for one of the earlier shows as I hear the seats are not the best with the priority seating.

6/11 Head Home :sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1: Say good-bye to WDW as it's going to be a while before we get back. I'm expecting a new little peanut and I'm just not sure I want to bring a 6 month old to the World next summer. Who knows though, we might just change our minds!

Doing the Happy Dance:dance3: We finally got our Mickey Mail.:cool1: and we are now in our single digets untill we leave, 9 days :yay: :woohoo:

Bandmom: Very cool about your 13 yr old getting to march, too! You really needed some good news. Hope everything works out with the job issue & your mom's situation :flower3:
  • Anjalee: Happy Birthday! I'm a May b-day, too! Was surprised that I received a Happy Birthday e-mail from the Disboards
  • Icecoldpenguin & kschafer: I PM'd you guys about the Chef Mickey's ressie!

Wow I can not believe that my trip to the House of Mouse is only 8 days away. I did do rather short notice booking so I haven't had to wait nearly as long as some of you but it is still very exciting.

I have loved how this year my planning has gotten to be at a bare minimum and I am not even too worried about packing.

Last year when I went with family it was much more intensive. This year with just me I can see it being so much easier.

Star Wars weekends here I come!

Teresa:cool1:

so i have to confess a very silly counting method that has given my family MUCH fodder for poking fun at me...

My Disney Countdown Method...

To count the number of days until Disney...

1. Find a calendar. Don't count the day you are currently on.
The reason is that you are already IN this day and therefore it does NOT count.
2. Count the days between the day you are currently on until the day you leave. DO NOT COUNT YOUR DEPARTURE DAY.
This is simply because the day you depart is technically a Disney day and DOES NOT count as a day in between.

3. This gives you your days until Disney... Ms. Heimlich style.

19 days to go for us!!! :lmao:

Spending has been on hold (saving for Disney) and we leave June 4th!! Very excited, but should I allow a day of rest after each day at a park? My dd7 and ds5 are very little people (avg size of 2 and 4 yr olds). We are planning to do a double stroller, but do you think the kiddos can last consecutive days in the heat?

Happy Birthday Anjalee and congrats on the iPad! I'm dreaming of one someday....

Only 5 more sleeps for me!!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Happy Birthday Anjalee! Very cool gift. I love mine much more than I ever expected to. :goodvibes

Hi all!!

First Happy Birthday Angalee! I love b-days! Great gift too! :thumbsup2

Is it ok to ask for prayer on here? My mom lives in Joplin MO. She is OK, but her house was destroyed (and her car). She is staying with friends now, and I am so thankful for that. It is so hard not being there with her during this time. (different state) AND on top of that, I found out Tuesday that my job is being out-sourced. (This does not just effect me, it is company wide) My last day is day before we leave for Disney. :sad1:

*sigh* I really need a hug from Mickey. I am an "up" person and am sure I'll be back to happy self soon, just a lot going on right now, and am SO thankful that my mom is well and safe.

Ok, ds16 just called and forgot something for school... have to be a mom now and take it to him. Life does continue. ~Linda

Awwww Linda...so much going on! I am glad you are an 'up' kinda person though because I sooooo am the complete opposite. :goodvibes I will be praying for you and your mom. I'm not Mickey but

Ok - I have to post this... ds13 came home yesterday saying he was marching with ds16 in Disney parade - I had never heard of school doing this before so while being supportive, was a bit cautious with subject, just thought ds might have misunderstood director ..... So, I just ran into percussion band director at school and DS13 WILL be marching/playing with the high school at Disney! OMGosh! Wow - had to call DH on way home and tell him! :cool1:

VERY VERY COOL! Many congrats!!!!

Chicagoshannon: Sounds like us! Memorial Day weekend, 2 more days of school, then M-i-c-k-e-y! Woo Hoo!

Ugh...this is what my next 3 weeks involves...

Memorial Day Weekend at the beach in the RV (STILL PACKING!!!)
DD3 4th bday party on the 30th after arriving home from the beach.
31st - 3rd: 1 doctor appt, 1 hair appt, DD15 exam week and 1 vet appt.
6th - 10th: 2 field trips and 1 chorus concert
11th - LEAVE for Disney!!!

Somewhere in there I'll pack stuff I've been piling on my couch for Disney. ;o)

so when i busted out my pins I was quickly reminded that last trip we lost almost all of the backs to them. Does anyone else have this problem? Or was it just that I let a 3 year old hold them and she probably pulled them all off?? I know they sell the back separately because I bought a pack, but lost them of course, so it can't just be me right??? RIGHT???

I think the Finding Nemo seats are good. They're up front and you have a special entrance/exit so it makes it convenient.

I can't believe the single digits are here! This trip is to celebrate so many things for my family and I, but most importantly my 26th bday! And what a better way to celebrate!

It's not just you. I got more backs off eBay.

When are they marching? You guys will be down there the same time we are and I would love to see their band perform.

Linda - I'll be praying for your mom and everyone else in Joplin. So sad. I'm glad to hear that she's ok - stuff can be replaced, but she can't be! Sounds like you have a good attitude despite the challenges! Congrats to your son on the band thing too!

However, I am ok with the stabbings and everyday gunfire :rotfl:.
Teachermommy - I just have to say, this made me literally laugh out loud!

Got an Ipad for my birthday today! Yay! I can't wait to play around with it!

I will update everyone's information, but it might just have to be tomorrow. I am thinking this lady needs a night of relaxation. :goodvibes

Hope you had a great bday! I just got an iphone this year and I love it, if I had an ipad, I'd be in heaven!

I should probably make a checklist of to-dos. I have a neighbor who has volunteered to feed my cats while we are gone. While this is great it's my only source of worry. My oldest cat (he'll be 16 in June) sometimes gets sick...especially in the heat even though our house is air conditioned. Yesterday he had one of those days...and not to go into graphic details but basically he ends up leaving small drops of *stuff* all over the house...it's like he vomits and gets some sort of cat diarrhea. :sad1: I spent a good hour or more cleaning spots on our carpet last night. I would just HATE for my neighbor to walk-in and find that mess in our house. I would not expect her to clean it up. However I don't really want to lock the cat(s) up anywhere either for nearly two weeks. Ugh..not sure what I'll do right now. Might need to find a way to confine them to our kitchen so at least the mess will be contained to non-carpet areas if it happens again. :confused3

Just wanted to say that I have an elderly cat (15) also, so I feel for you. Fortunately right now he is doing ok. I would just explain to your neighbor about his condition. Hopefully by the time your trip comes around he will be ok.

 I have had all of Joplin in my prayers lately, so glad to hear that your Mom is ok.

About your job-I completely understand that one also. In 2009, I worked in the HR department of a manufacturing plant. 2 months before our WDW trip I found out that the plant would be closing at year end. Honestly it was nice to go and "forget" what I was going to have to deal with when I got back.

 Stay positive, it gets better.

To all you lucky Junies - have safe and happy travels, don't forget us, and I hope your trips are full of pixie dust :wizard:

Next week at this time, we will have just experienced a delicious meal at Yak & Yeti!! :goodvibes

I can't believe it's almost here! PLUS... I managed to pack up and clean out my classroom early, so the next 6 days can be "Pre-Disney Heaven!!!"

So while I'm on a Disney high... I just know that magically :wizard:the laundry will get done, the house cleaned, and the three of us will get totally packed in time! :rolleyes1

My dd7 and ds5 are very little people (avg size of 2 and 4 yr olds). We are planning to do a double stroller, but do you think the kiddos can last consecutive days in the heat?

I wouldn't plan on a full day of rest every other day. But I would play it by ear and watch how they are handling it. If you can get around early, I would be at the parks at opening and do things before it really heats up. Then take a break in the afternoon and go back for evening. Or go for a part of the day and make it an early night. Find some air conditioned places to just chill for a while at the parks.

I just wouldn't be able to stay away from the parks every other day! Do you have tickets for the full length of your stay?

It is almost TIME!!!!! Yeah, I am so pumped. Got alot of packing to do!! We will be at Sea World this time next week, then on to Disney, YAY!! :yay:
