The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

Tangled was such an amazing movie! It was DD3's first time at the movie theatre and she LOVED it (even though she couldn't understand the language since it was in english and she only understands french) I am so glad she sat through it because I also LOVED it and would have been so disappointed to leave before the end!

Highly recommend for even small children!!!

ok, so not EVERY Disney movie, lol. If you look at these lists, we included about 30 from the "Animation Studios" list, none from the "Live Action" list, none from the "DisneyToon Studios" list (we do have some and have watched some but I didn't include those on our "Must Watch List"), and then the 11 Pixar movies. So about 40 total on our list and we started months ago. Probably like September.

Aunt calling Disney now- and I am freaking a tad to say the least

We took the kids to see Tangled this weekend too! It was my 2yo DD first movie (and I was nervous as all get out because she isnt one to sit still) and she did awesome! I loved the movie and cried at the end lol

Allison - how exciting. AKL is stunning. My mother, son and I spent two nights there in 2007 (first time at WDW). I freaked out when I went out on the balcony and there was a giraffe!

Lamb - DH and I seem to keep watching Enchanted. Love the movie, but I know I own more. :lmao:

Only 20 days! I am bouncing off the walls of my little cubicle. I am sure I am driving my co-workers bonkers. DH get a morning update on how many days, also.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Heads up for those who use Touringplans.com; check your dates for Pres Week; some numbers have been updated and best/worst parks changed on some days (to reflect recent changes in expanded park hours for that week).

We'll be there the week before. My subscription just expired, but I'm thinking of resubscribing because I know there have been changes. On the other hand, do I really want to re-do my touring plan AGAIN???

Go Steelers!!!!!!! Really hoping for that MVP parade during my trip in MK!!!!!! I told my husband in Aug that this was going to happen..

might pay for the next trip with $ from my new job as a psychic!!!! :rotfl2:

OMG - is there really an MVP parade??? When does that usually happen? I don't want to start a war, but I'll be rooting for the Packers. Then again, Superbowl MVP parade - does that mean crowd numbers go up?

Oh no!

I was just reading that the safari at AK, at some point one of the bridges you cross could "shake". This is going to frighten my 3 year old (very sensitive, gets scared very easily)! Does anyone know more about this? How long does the shaking last? I was SO looking forward to the safari also!

It's a very short bridge. The driver goes over it very slowly. It's not really that the bridge shakes, but they have some kind of "cables" across the bridge to make it feel bumpy. That's the word - bumpy. I think it's more of a bumpy ride versus the bridge shaking. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how I remember it.

ok- ready for the update??

Aunt was able to get a 2 bedroom villa for our entire stay at Old Key West

I know Nothing about OKW and I am nervous as all get out to cancel my original reservation.

First thing my son asked when I told him we may have a new place to stay, "Mom, can we still visit Pop?"

UGH what to do- I mean never would we be able to pay for a 2 bedroom villa anywhere by ourselves.

Laundry is nice, having a kitchen is nice (will we use it?)

Do I still want/need the dining plan?

How in the world do I get tickets?

So much to find out- so little time

Alli, that's so exciting!! I'd say go for it! You can always go back and stay at Pop :) I'd still get the DP just because I don't feel like preparing meals during my vacation :) I'm not sure about the tickets though I imagine you can just get them from Disney.

which dining plan were you getting? I would still get the regular or QS plan b/c you can mostly eat breakfast in the room.

I'm like you, I would be absolutely panicked at the thought of changing -- even if the change is 1,000,000 times better, just becuase of all the research/planning I'd done.

I would totally upgrade! Did you see how much a night that is? $570/night!!!!

I'm not sure how DVC works though. Can you get the dining package added on? If so, I would add the dining package on that you had (that way you wouldn't have to change your ADRs right?) and then the ticket package you had originally.

Holy cow, that is great for you guys!!! She's paying for it right? So you guys should be saving a bit from not paying for your POP room.

Go for it!!! As PP said you can always stay at pop! Get the dining plan as it us very costly to buy groceries to cook alot. ( think butter, oil, spices?) Although you can do breakfast very easily. It will all fall into place! Live it up!!!

Just got an email from TP about some changes y'all might be interested in, and wanted to share:

Fantasmic! shows added for Feb. 3, 6, 9, 13, 17, 19, 20, 22, 24.

MK hours have been extended for Feb. 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26.

MSEP runs added for Feb. 12, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26.

AK hours extended for Feb. 19, 20, 21, 22, 23.

Alli ~ You must be a giant stress ball right now, trying to figure everything out. I hope you're able to sort it all out! Have a glass of wine or two, it'll all seem better. :)

Allison - how exciting and stressfull all at the same time!! Whatever decision you make will be the right one. :goodvibes

Gina - thank you much ma'am! I dont think it affects our plans to much.

Just got an email from our TA. She just got back from the post office and she sent our Mickey Mail out today and we should have it by Wednesday! That just makes the trip seem so much more real! :woohoo:

Allison, if I were you I would go for it - POP will always be there but will a chance like this happen again. Plus your own room:cool1:. Stick with the dinner plan who wants to cook after a long day in the park. What a great upgrade.

My SIL and BIL are DVC members and OKW is their home resort. They bought into it during the very first years of DVC. Anyway, we stayed there once...it's a lovely resort! SIL and BIL love it best because the rooms are larger than any other DVC ...I guess because it was the first one.

I would price out whether the dining plan is worth it for you. Would you likely eat breakfast in every morning? If so, maybe the DDP would cost you more than you would spend. Or do you want to eat all of your meals out? Then maybe DDP is the way to go.

As for tickets, I think you can buy them at AAA at a discount. Or maybe one of those on-line reputable companies.

Visit POP...eat a meal there....but I would stay at OKW!! ENJOY!!!
