The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

The Wishes Dessert Party, held at the Magic Kingdom. (Hopefully everyone here has had a chance to call now, so I think it's safe to say the name. :) ) You can Google all kinds of info and pics for it -- DS and I just love it!! The cost with tax is $23.42 per person, and you have to pay at time of booking.

Hi Gina,

question for you, i have the pirate and pals fireworks voyage booked for when we are down. my question, " is the dessert party better than the voyage?"

thanks Gina

Hi Ron! I'm afraid I can't help you there... my son was already way too old for it by the time they started doing the pirate thingy. But I'm sure there's someone here who has done both! Anyone?

Ron- I heard the pirates and pals cruise is awesome (thats the one the whole family goes on right?) You have a snack in the contemporary- meet hook and smeed and then board the boat for the electrical parade, and the fireworks (music is piped on board). After the boat trip you meet Peter Pan

I would LOVE to do that cruise- especially with my son who loves Peter Pan and Hook

I also heard the dessert party is really nice too....awesome views for the fireworks!

hard choice

To much excitement! Booked WDP

So here is what our vaca is going to look like:

2/13-2/19 POFQ

2-13 - arrive at MCO at 7:08 pm hit MK for CS and BTMRR
2-14 - Le Cellier dinner at 4:30
2-15 - Ohana breakfast at 9:30, WDP at 7:00
2-16 - Les Chefs du France dinner at 4:40 (trying to time it to see Remy)
2-17 - Mamp Melrose lunch at 1:40 w/Fantasmic Package
2-18 - Rose & Crown dinner at 6:55 // Undiscovered Future World Tour at 9am
2-19 - Crystal Place breakfast @ 8:55 // head to MCO at 3pm

Comments? Questions? Anyone see any room for changes?

I am now beyond excited. WDP was the last thing I needed to book to feel like I am done with the planning. Now to get gift cards for DH for Christmas, so he really does not have to pay for anything this trip.

We booked our flights today!! It's the most I've ever paid for a flight to Orlando ($214 on Southwest)..but still less than what we first anticipated.

So excited about the trip again. Was losing patience and getting frustrated with the flight search...but now that it's over..ready to get back into the fun planning!

good for you kriscar, we are still waiting for the deals before booking our flights. there are 5 of us and flights down are $379.00/person and coming back $675.00/person. so $215.00 is awsome. we are flying out of Calgary, Alberta Canada

that is correct, the whole family goes on it, i figure if we can have a good view of the fireworks from the pals and pirates we shouldn't need the WDP (trip is starting to become expensive)

booked the dessert party yesterday morning for feb 15th. its going to be a busy day, makeovers for the kids at the bbb, early dinner at crt and then the dessert party. eek! getting so excited!

Booked our WDP! :cheer2: Getting really excited now - feel like we have everything ready to go - flights booked, rental car booked, everything! And I'm with Ron - that cold snap he is in is the same one we are; it's a little early for -25 celcius, even for Saskatchewan! I had a trip to Ottawa for business (as usual) and so yesterday I woke up in Ottawa it was +10 and raining, by the afternoon it was +14 and sunny, and then flew home to -20 and blizzarding. I really, really can't wait for Florida in the winter! Nice big warm sunny disney universal warm Florida! Woooo hoooo!!

We are booked for 2/12-2/18 (free dining) at ASMu. We'll be there celebrating my big 40th birthday (which is on 2/7). We prefer Value Season because we don't mind the short hours, cool weather and possible rehabs. We just want lowest crowds possible (both in parks and resorts).

We chose the week AFTER my birthday only because of free dining. But I just realized today that it would only cost us about $300 more to come during my birthday week. I'd be willing to spend the extra if I thought there would be a significant difference in crowds and the overall experience is more pleasant.

I just found this thread and will try to work my way through all 73 pages over the holiday weekend. But if anyone has any insight that could help me make this decision, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks in advance!
Stephanie

The UDA (Universal Dance Association) is having their finals at WDW February 5th & 6th. Their schedule says they'll be arriving at Sports and CBR starting on the 3rd, then they have a private party at MK on the 4th and will be competing in DHS on the 5th and 6th. I don't know if that's something that would bother you.

How did you get to book this??? I have been wanting to book it for Feb 13 and I just got off the phone with Disney Dining and they say it is only showing on the system until the end of December. :confused3

I have called several times as well. But today, it was no problem! Did you take the SPECIAL DINING INFORMATION option instead of DINING RESERVATIONS? Sometimes the reservations folks aren't up to date on the show type, special stuff..

I didn't even ask if it was showing dates or if it had been extended. Just said I need Wishes Dessert Party tickets for 2/11 and he told me it was available.

I would try again..seriously.

Alright so I called back and yes they say the 13th of Feb open to book it. I sent a email to my Disney Travel Agent earlier asking her about it and if it was available to book it for me so I didn't book it on the phone tonight incase she books it for me, I did send her another email back letting her know that I did speak to someone at Disney that confirmed it and that if she couldn't book it for me then let me know and I will call them tomorrow. I deal with Fairytale Dreams and Destinations and they are the only Canadian company that is certified with Disney and since that happened they are very tight lipped about things so she hasn't been able to tell me either way if they are extending it yet. So needless to say I will have it booked by tomorrow night at this time either if she does it for me or I do it myself.
Thanks so much for your help and now I'm so excited about getting my paws on those tasty desserts. :goodvibes

Ok, I just read through (and sometimes just skimmed) this whole thread. Looks like UDA is going to be there the first week I'm considering and UCA will be there the next week. Both groups have a choice between All Stars and CBR. I checked out their brochures and I don't see that any particular All Star resort is listed. This afternoon (before I knew about UDA being there the first week), I called ASMu and spoke with a CM and asked for his advice. He suggested sticking with the free dining and not worry about the cheerleaders since I have paid for a preferred location. He said to make sure I mention during check-in that I'm concerned about the noise. My biggest concern would be the pool area. When at Disney, we're usually in bed by 9pm. At least they could put me on the other side of one of the Calypso buildings. But what about the food court? Since we have a 4 year old, we like to leave the park about 5pm, head back and freshen up in our room then go have dinner at the food court. I'm thinking since UDA and UCA girls will have meal vouchers, they'll definitely be eating dinner around the same time as us. I get stressed easily when dealing with my 4 year old (had her late in life) so I'm thinking that might be a little too much for me. I understand teenagers and they're just having fun. But I also know me and what I can handle. As much as I really want to stay at ASMu, I'm thinking about switching to Pop. We just stayed there in October (3 day weekend) so I was hoping for some variety.

So, it sounds like I have TWO decisions to make. 1) Free dining week vs. possibly smaller crowds on my birthday week but with no free dining. And 2) Stay at ASMu and brave the crowds or switch to safe but repetitive option of Pop Century.

Now that I've read through this thread, I feel like I know many of you. Been following your ups and downs. Your decisions over ADR's, etc. I know you don't know me but still hoping you'll magically feel bonded to me already (hehe!) and will share my decision-making-agony with me. :lmao:

P.S. I submitted a request to join the FB group.

Thanks!
Stephanie
