The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

are you kidding me? How can they possibly cancel with such little notice!? How many snow days have you had? Can't be much more than us (5) and what's so hard about adding 5 days to the end of the year? I'll be PO'd if they cancel our Feb. vacation b/c in that case DS will be missing 7 days of school instead of just 5, lol. (we leave the Thurs. of Feb. vacation and will be there the entire following week)

No kidding and they did. We've had 10 snow days this winter!!! We've been hammered with storm after storm since 12/27. The schools are still closed on Monday 2/21 for President's day so she'll only be missing 4 days and who knows, maybe we'll have another snow storm and cancelation that week. Based on this winter, I wouldn't be surprised.

when I checked weather.com earlier it looked GORGEOUS for next week --- sunny and mid-60s to low-70s. I would be in heaven with that weather.

I am now in full-force obsessive panic about us getting sick. None of us have been sick yet this winter (knock on wood) and I keep hearing horror stories about people getting the sickies and it taking WEEKS to get through the whole family. I wish I could lock us all in a bubble for the next 2 weeks!

I've been checking the local channels for weather since I figure that has to be more accurate and it looks awesome for this weekend!!!!

This week of work is just draaaaaaaaging by. And I know our vacation will fly by and that makes me sad! I think about it being over and I get depressed.

Almost there! Tied up some loose ends today. Did some clean-up at work, sent in my last batch of school work till the 26th, printed out itineraries and reservation confirmations, planned out my errands for tonight and tomorrow. And on Thursday the fun officially begins with our stay in the city of Portland the night before our flight. DBF is letting his excitement show even more. I'm so excited for him. I don't remember my first time. It will be awesome to see WDW through a newbies eyes!

just checked the weather again, as it changes everyday. no more rain in our forecast for FL. And looks like we should be good on the way home, as we have to fly through Chicago(wish we had time to go check out where the Blackhawks play).

Less than 20 days now, can't wait! Where do you all get your LGMH? I know at Home Depot (I think that was said at least) but there isn't really a SECTION for that sort of thing and Im worried the workers will wonder what the heck I am smoking if I ask outright.... ^^;;

LOL... They're right with all the little paint sample card thingys. Wow, I am AWESOME at explaining things today, aren't I?? Not! Thank heavens Lynne was able to explain how the luggage tags work to Lamb, or she'd still be wrestling with the things!

LOL! You will find them in the paint department. I always smuggle a handful of LGMH and then a few other colors to make it look legit. Yeah, right.

3 more sleeps and we are out of the frigid midwest!!!!! Can't wait!!!!! Still haven't packed.

Good morning all. I had my first crazy/horrible vacation dream. I have them every time I go away and I'm sure I'll have several more before we leave. DH thinks I'm crazy but I go thru this every time I go somewhere. My dreams have always been abnormally strange anyways, lol.

This one started with us arriving at MK and I realize I forgot to bring my Touring Plan. (which I have painstakingly labored over for weeks, making it perfect)! Then I get out of the car and realize I still have my bathrobe on -- I had my pants on under them but I never put a shirt on! (And it's not just a normal bathrobe, it's the XXL one that I got to bring to the hospital when I had DD, and I've never gotten around to getting a regular size one, lol.) So I'm rushing around trying to find a gift shop that sells shirts and OF COURSE there are none anywhere. Then we come across Snow White and DD runs up to hug her and I take their picture and then realize that SW has blonde hair and I'm thinking "geez, how lame, they can't even hire someone with the right color hair?"
Then we come across Spiderman (I know, wrong park) sitting on a wall that's over a river or something. DS runs over & hugs him. Few minutes later, I can't find DS anywhere so I start calling for him and then I look in the water and see something floating underneath a car (I know, a car in the river, ***?) so I jump in and it's him and I pull him out and start doing CPR and thank God he starts sputtering out the water.
Next thing I remember I'm wracking my brain trying to remember which rides we're supposed to go on in which order and I'm so afraid I'm gonna get it wrong, lol. We go over to Fantasyland b/c I remember that's first and it's basically just like the local carnival, nothing special.
Last thing I remember is DD starts being cranky and I realize that Magic Stroller never delivered our stroller to the hotel so we go to the stroller rental place at the park and of course, they don't have any left to rent. We eventually end up stealing one from someone else while they're on a ride, lol.

So, I think that about covers it.

I'm not laughing at you, I swear! I'm just so relieved that I'm not the only crazy person who has these nutball dreams before I go on a trip. There was the forgetting my makeup one, then there was one a few nights ago where I fell in the water at DTD -- with a blanket -- and got swept out to Bay Lake somehow, but climbed up on one of the floats for the Electric Water Pageant, so it was all okay, lol.

Good Morning Everyone!

Lamb - most of my dreams have to do with the airport and not having my ID or my boarding pass. Getting to the resort and not having all the paperwork and they cant find my reservation.

Only 4 more days, only three of which are work days! My officemate is back today, so it should be slow enough for me to just hang out on the boards all day, instead of working.

Having never stayed at a Value, is POP the best one? We are looking at heading back out (I know, I havent left on this vaca yet), in October for the Food and Wine Festival, the one here at DCA got cancelled due to construction. I want to make it a longer trip, so the best way to do that is stay at a value.

LOL! You girls are too funny! I haven't had any dreams like that but I am finding it harder and harder to sleep at night worrying about what I need to do and things I can't forget to bring. And the night before, just forget about sleeping, I worry my alarm clock won't work, so I'm up every hour! Crazy!!!!!!

Still worried about what to bring, clothes-wise. A little of this, a little of that, ugh!!!! I'm used to going in the summer and just bringing shorts, tanks and sandals. Easy-peasy!!!!

I know I'm not following the crowd calendar BUT not much I can do about it with the rest of the family. After the "family meeting", I realized they have NEVER seen any firework display in WDW. WHAT!!!!! We MUST remedy that situation immediately!

Having never stayed at a Value, is POP the best one? We are looking at heading back out (I know, I havent left on this vaca yet), in October for the Food and Wine Festival, the one here at DCA got cancelled due to construction. I want to make it a longer trip, so the best way to do that is stay at a value.

I'm sure you'll get many different replies, since resort choice is so subjective, but Pop is just IT for me. I've stayed at all the values except for Sports, and while I have no complaints about the others, they just don't have that certain "feel" that Pop does. I can't even explain it. It has an energy about it that I have never felt at any of the other resorts we've stayed at. (ASMo, ASMu, CBR, DxL) Don't know how it "feels" at the deluxes.

But for actual tangible reasons why I feel Pop is best, these are the top ones for me:

1.) Best food court on property. Crowds aside, it has the best variety and yunniest choices. Can't *wait* to have the parmesan-crusted chicken again!! And a huge ice cream sundae as your dessert for a CS meal? Love it!

2.) Best gift ship (IMO). Way better than the other resorts I have stayed at.

3.) Best arcade. Yeah, I'm a game geek, and DS and I always have fun in the Pop arcade.

4.) Prettiest value. Walking around the lake, especially near sunset, is just so peaceful and beautiful. Toss in the abundance of palm trees, lush foliage, and gorgeous flowers all around the property, and you'd never believe you're at a value resort.


Have I mentioned how much I love Pop?

We are on our way to Toronto now! We leave for WDW tomorrow morning! I've been going crazy all morning with last minute stuff. I am so worried I forgot something! I'll take this opportunity so sign-off since I cant use my phone once I'm out of Canada. Wish you all a fab trip and can't wait for all the reports when we all get back!

PS ohana mama, we will also be at HS on sunday! Seeing fantasmic with dinner package so maybe we'll see you there! I have a chocolate brown Baggalini with my LGMH and a DD in a red stroller
