ok- ready for the update??

Aunt was able to get a 2 bedroom villa for our entire stay at Old Key West

I know Nothing about OKW and I am nervous as all get out to cancel my original reservation.

First thing my son asked when I told him we may have a new place to stay, "Mom, can we still visit Pop?"

UGH what to do- I mean never would we be able to pay for a 2 bedroom villa anywhere by ourselves.

Laundry is nice, having a kitchen is nice (will we use it?)

Do I still want/need the dining plan?

How in the world do I get tickets?

So much to find out- so little time

Don't be afraid of doing old key west! we stayed there and the rooms are huge! nice big balconies, the biggest out of all the dvc resorts! with fans and big tables! (really relaxing)
you can take the boat ride over to downtown disney down the river, its so cool! and if your lucky you might spot an otter swimming around! or rent a sea raycer or boat and cruise over to port orleans resorts which is down the river and check them out! :thumbsup2
We really just used the kitchen for bfast made eggs a few mornings and had cereal, etc being there is no quick service in the resort for bfast. You can purchase this stuff from the resort once your there if you dont order in advance through garden grocer, etc. but it tends to be on the pricier side.
the resort is spacious so can be a little bit of a walk if not near the main area, but its a nice walk, and they do have internal buses.
hope that helps! enjoy! :goodvibes

thank you all so much for the advice

we decided to....

Go with the 2 bedroom Villa- what we will do with all the space? I honestly have no clue lol!

We also are still doing the dining plan. We didnt really want to cook anything besides breakfast so thats that

I was sad to cancel my old reservation. We worked hard to take the kids back to disney, and we were super excited for Pop. Though you all helped me realize that we can always do Pop next time, and our chances of ever staying at a 2 bedroom villa again are slim to none. I am hoping to get our money reimbursed before we leave so we can use it to buy tickets.

Did you know that if you stay DVC you dont get daily housekeeping? You also dont get daily toiletries. Who knew?

On a great note- my mom may be able to come down with us now. I have always dreamed of taking my mom to Disney and now its a possibility!!!

Allison - that would be awesome! I will send lots of prayers your way! That is my dream to stay at AKL - never mind a VILLA! We always stay offsite in a condo/villa, so that is what we are used too. I am SO nervous to be stuck in a hotel room for a week!! Since it is disney and we won't be in out toom very much I think I can handle it!!! Allison - no matter where you end up it will be amazing!!!

It is SO cold here - (NEGATIVE numbers- BRRRRRR!) and we have a ton of snow heading our way this week. I just looked on Weather.com app on my phone and I can check 10 days out - it shows 60% chance of snow Tuesday into Wed (we fly out wed)!! YIKES I am so nervous that we will have bad weather that will delay us flying out.

It seems that Orlando is warming up! I hope that it stays that way. I have learned from past trips to NOT pay any attention to the precipatation forcast as it changes so quickly there. We have moved around plans and then it never rains! So? I am just focusing on the temp! Dreaming of 70 degree weather. We will be so thrilled to have anything over 50!!!

Last night we played Toy Story Mania on the Wii and talked about our favorite rides at Disney! WE are in SIGLE digits!!! WOO HOO!!!!

I think I have about 80% of my packing all set. Just need to throw in the stuff that we are using now and we should be good to go!!!

Okay this made me laugh/cry at the same time LOL...

this morning driving into work the temp. in my car read -3, all I kept saying to myself is whatever the weather is in WDW, it will be warmer then here:rotfl:

I am also fying out of PA on Wed and saw snow in the forcast, my problem is I am only going for a long weekend and meeting my friend who is flying out tues :scared1:

I have only ever been to WDW in Sept. so I am clueless as what types of clothes to pack. I was hoping to get away with just a carryon :confused3

Congrats Allison :cloud9:

just an FYI.. i ran to Target today to pick up my missing travel size stuff (all good with that now) and they had the cutest pj's in the adult section. I picked up grey capri's covered in Mickey heads and the grey shirt that has on it a Minnie headband and Mickey ears. I needed new pj's for the trip :rotfl:

Hi everybody!

I'm so excited! Just planned a spur-of-the-moment trip to the World for Feb 20 - 23 while the kids are out of school. It'll be just me and them, as DH can't get away (he's so nice about it! :goodvibes). And we're going to try to keep it secret until we get to the airport.... maybe even keep our destination secret until we get to the gate and they see Orlando! I'm so excited; I really need a break away, too.... in warmth!

We'll hit 2 parks, with the QS plan. I'm trying to decide whether to each let them pick a park, or to do it myself, based on "best park" strategy. We love them all! To cheer us up on our travel day home, I booked the Ohana character breakfast (7:30 a.m., oh dear) -- will my kids be too old to enjoy?? I've read reviews and it sounds like the food is yummy.

So just curious will anyone else be there from the 6th to 13th? We'll actualy be in the parks on the 7th - 10th and then the 11th & 12th we will be at Universal.

Awesome! We're going Feb 19 - 26 - my DH is also staying home (we're going in Oct as a family)...but this trip will be me and my DD7 along with my friend and her DD7!
If I were you, I'd pick the parks..it is president's week and following the crowd advice is more important than usual! And as far as being too old for Ohana...I don't think there's any such thing!

Allison - That's awesome!!! Enjoy - POP will always be there!!!!

22 days.......yippee:banana::banana::banana:

We will be there from the 4th to the 13th. Should be a wonderful week!!!

Hello! My extended family is headed to Disney in 12 days!!! It will be our first DVC stay, Animal Kingdom - Kidani Village Grand Villa! I plan on checking in online on Thursday.

My sister and her boyfriend live in Ft. Myers, FL and therefore will be driving in whereas the rest of us live in Rochester, NY and will be flying in. Should my sister arrive before the rest of us, will she be given a key to the room? The reservation is in my mom's name, but we are all members of DVC. Basically, my parents bought into it and then added my sisters and I to it so technically we are members.

I plan on calling later today, I was just wondering if anyone would know the answer!

OMG - is there really an MVP parade??? When does that usually happen? I don't want to start a war, but I'll be rooting for the Packers. Then again, Superbowl MVP parade - does that mean crowd numbers go up?

We will be there rooting for the Packers Too (being from Central Wisconsin)... We just don't know where on property we should watch (don't really want have to get the the ESPN club at dawn to get a seat )

Go Pack GO
