Not just the films, but in an interview a couple days ago, Jimmy Kimmel was asked if he was going to stay away from political jokes. (If you watch his show, you know he makes a LOT of them.) He said, no, he's NOT leaving them out. Argh! While he has a right to talk about whatever he wants on his own TV show. I wish he'd leave the Oscars alone. There may be a lot of people tuning out during his opening jokes.

DH just told me that he read that the Producers asked JK to limit his comments and views on the show tonight? Maybe we aren't the only one's wanting to see the show be what it is...AWARDS!

I don't mind a few political jokes but sometimes they get a little bit too much. I don't need to hear it in the acceptance speeches.

I miss the days of Johnny Carson & Jay Leno. They would poke fun EQUALLY at all politicians as "equal opportunity" jokes. Johnny & Jay didn't let on their own political views or sides. And the jokes were just all in good humor, doing it because a funny moment happened. Like I remember Pres. Gerald Ford was very clumsy and tripped all the time, and they'd joke about that, in lite humor.

But, now, a lot of the "joking" (regardless of the party,) is done as ridiculing and to get across the comedian's own political side.
