The DIS Oscar LIVE Party is tomorrow nite! Everyone is invited. Newbies welcome! It's the last, longest, hopefully the best, live award show of the season.
This is when they put on the best dresses.

Or so they think.
There will be some speeches to laugh at cry over or be forced to sit through.
And this golden man award is handed out.

And new from last year: they may announce the wrong winner. . .

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the Oscars for a second time.
I recommend to get new batteries for the MUTE button on your TV remote control. It is the closest you may get to taping Jimmy & presenters mouths shut. -->

You know the drill if you've attended before. Load up on munchies & drinks, wine & booze are welcome. Including the Red Carpet, it's 6-1/2 hours depending on when you tune in and how long you stay.


We have two Red Carpet channels this year. (ABC usually has exclusive coverage when they start airing their Red Carpet. E! will then show rerun footage of the dresses and the hosts just start talking amongst themselves.)

A little heads up for newbies: The Red Carpet segment goes really quickly on this thread. People are typing like crazy all at the same time, seeing different dresses.

If you post something or ask a question and it seems to get ignored, you are NOT being ignored. Everyone is just watching, typing & posting so quickly before the dress goes off the screen. We do most of the reading, scrolling back & posting back to each others' comments during the COMMERCIALS! Your posts will get a response then.

I found out that some Academy Award nominated movies are available On Demand on Spectrum/Time Warner cable. Check your own cable provider, if you don't have Spectrum, to see if some are available and in your area. You have a chance to see a movie or two before tomorrow nite.

To access ON Demand, press the On Demand button in the center of your remote. Tab to the right for MOVIES, then tab down to 2018 Nominees.
To get OUT of the On Demand section, click on the LAST Channel button.

Not just the films, but in an interview a couple days ago, Jimmy Kimmel was asked if he was going to stay away from political jokes. (If you watch his show, you know he makes a LOT of them.) He said, no, he's NOT leaving them out. Argh! While he has a right to talk about whatever he wants on his own TV show. I wish he'd leave the Oscars alone. There may be a lot of people tuning out during his opening jokes.

I USED to watch Kimmel when he opted to have a variety of items to talk about on his, you know, TALK show...but he was no longer entertaining to me in his lack of variety, so have not seen his show in many months. A little heads up on the latest scandal, in case you guys haven't heard:

I was really happy to find that Ryan Seacrest is still doing E!'s Red Carpet. I was worried that when he signed with ABC for Live With Kelly & Ryan and for American Idol, that they may have made him leave E! and do their Red Carpet. Nope, he's still on E!

However, a few days ago, his former stylist came out with MeToo allegations that he was sexually harassing her and being very inappropriate.

E! said they've investigated and can not find any evidence to back her accusations. That's kind of normal though. A lot of work sexual harassment & abuse happen when there are no witnesses around.

Ryan maintains his innocence and says she's made these allegations before, saying her claims will go away if he gives her millions of dollars to go away.

Kelly Ripa has publicly announced her support to Ryan on Live.

On the one hand, I'd like to believe her and support all the MeToo victims who courageously come forth. . . . However, I think most of us know there may be some people who may use this movement to lie and hurt people, or to garner attention for themselves - and get money.

I find this stylist's timing a bit. . . questionable. The MeToo movement has been going on for about 5(?) months now. She waits till the week before Ryan's 2 biggest events, (the Oscars and the premiere if AI,) to come out with the allegations? While I get she may want revenge & retribution against Ryan if he really did do what she accuses him of, she is also potentially ruining things for two networks too, at the last minute: ABC & E!, as they have to scramble to figure out what to do with this Ryan situation.

As for tonight on the Red Carpet, a lot of female stars who've supported the MeToo movement may skip talking to Ryan, (preferring to speak to Guiliana instead.) There are worries by the producers that some may confront Ryan about the situation, on live TV. And so, last I heard - few days ago, the producers are limiting his interviews and possibly PRE-recording some with some stars ahead of time, so they know what is said and there will be no live surprises.
