The Official DIS Oscars LIVE PARTY Thread!!! TONITE: Red Carpet 5pm ET / 2pm PT

LOL with the Jet Ski.

Another year done. Thanks for hosting Imzadi!

As always, YOU guys make this party happen. :jumping1: Thanks for showing up and posting. Most of us would be watching by ourselves otherwise. :(

Late to the party, as usual. Could tell the tide was turning toward Shape of Water, ha.

Loved all the sisterhood going on, such a Girl Power Oscars. Enjoyed that Margot Robbie and Gal Gadot seemed to be having a blast, even jumping into to field trip. Jennifer Garner looked so gorgeous, so did JLaw. The only shocker, to me, was that "This is Me" didn't win.

Sorry I am late again - I blame crappy internet at home.

Anyway, a few thoughts - and this is just for the awards portion. (I don't get into who is wearing what.)

I know this is Jimmy's schtick, but if we really want to shorten the broadcast, stop with playing "gotcha" with some unsuspecting audience. I know, it was fun to see the folks at the theater across the street, but that took a LONG time to set up and run the gag, for something that was probably funnier if you were actually there. I, for one, was rather bored with it at home.

Rolling Stone pointed out today that Glen Campbell was left out of the "In Memoriam" section.

Nice touch to have Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty back for the ultimate "do-over".

I was also surprised to see "Remember Me" win best song over "This is Me". If you haven't yet, check out Keala Settle's audition of this song on You Tube - chills! But the Lopez's were cute, so if "This is Me" had to lose, I'm glad it was to them.

Yeah, the Gary Oldman accusations were uncomfortable, and I think it made the response to his win a bit subdued. But he gave a great performance.

We are watching "Dunkirk" tonight. And Coco soon!

I thought they need to shorten the time some of the presenters are up there, especially at the beginning. Some of them are up there longer than the winners are. :headache: It was great seeing Eva Marie Saint again. But, when she started in on her life since losing her husband, then talking about her mom, I thought it was getting to be too long. :headache:

Re-posting list again:

Some Academy Award nominated movies are available On Demand on Spectrum/Time Warner cable. Check your own cable provider, if you don't have Spectrum, to see if some are available and in your area. :happytv:

To access ON Demand, press the On Demand button in the center of your remote. Tab to the right for MOVIES, then tab down to 2018 Nominees.
To get OUT of the On Demand section, click on the LAST Channel button.

The nominated movies Spectrum/Time Warner cable has (in my area, hopefully everywhere) are:

Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, MO (winners: Best Actress - Frances McDormand, Supporting actor: Sam Rockwell.)
The Florida Project
Darkest Hour (winner: Best Actor: Gary Oldman)
Lady Bird
Dunkirk
The Big Sick
Roman J. Israel, Esq.
Victoria & Abdul
Wonder
The Baby Boss
Blade Runner 2049 (winner: Cinematography & Visual effects)

Nominated Animated films:
Coco (winner for animated & best song)
The Star
The Breadwinner

Best Documentary nominee:
Abacus: Small Enough to Jail

Totally agree.

Frances McDormand's oscar was temporarily stolen at the governor's ball! She put it down on her table to chat with others. That's when some nut, who had a legitimate ticket to the event, snatched up her oscar and started walking around, showing it off as HIS oscar that he won. He even took a selfie video and posted it to his Facebook, saying it was his. (His social media pages show that he's somehow gotten into a lot of these types events since 2012 and posted selfies of himself holding other winners' awards - always saying they were other people's awards, probably because they were standing right next to him. But, this time he was able to grab the award and walk away with it, unnoticed.)

Frances was distraught when she found it missing. She & her DH looked around for it. There is a video clip of her crying & upset. :sad1:

Wolfgang Puck's own photographer was shooting pics around the event. He got suspicious when he saw that guy with the award, followed him and grabbed the award away from him. Luckily, Frances had already had her award engraved backstage, so it was clearly her award. :thumbsup2 The guy ran away.

But, later, the LAPD tracked the guy down from his FB post of himself with the award. He has been arrested for grand theft. :cheer2:

I read that too! What an idiot- the thief, not Frances!

I'm kind of surprised that it hasn't happened before. Although, I know, if I won, that award would be glued to my hand. Go dancing: it goes with me. Grab an hors d'oeuvre: "Excuse me Waiter, while I switch the oscar to the other hand so I can pick up the hors d'oeuvre." Go to the bathroom, the oscar would be sitting on floor of the stall, as close to me as possible, so I can see if any grabby hands are trying to reach under for it. :lmao:

I'm not sure how limos work at awards shows...do you just get into whatever limo drives up next (like a cab) or do you have your own personal one? I have a feeling it's the former but if it's the latter I'd just leave the Oscar in the limo and go party, LOL. I wouldn't want to carry that big heavy thing around all night no matter how proud I was of it. The media outside the Governor's Ball should know that I've won without needing to see the statue. Maybe I'd hand it off to someone I trust and tell them to go take it somewhere safe, heh.
