BTW, at last night's Golden Globes (non-televised) pre-awards ceremony, Ted Danson received the Carol Burnett Award, given to person who's made outstanding contributions to television on or off screen. It was presented by his wife, Mary Steenburgen.

Viola Davis received the Cecil B. DeMille Award, presented by Meryl Streep.

I was really disappointed that they didn’t show those awards.

Yes. I really enjoyed it. As pointed out, it may be controversial. There were audible gasps in the theater when I saw it when the twist was revealed.

I'm an ex-Catholic which is why I was debating whether or not to watch.

I’m not Catholic but I would love to hear a Catholic’s perspective.

I did enjoy the film, and thought the acting was incredible. I did like the focus on how the Conclave actually works. Some people criticized the elements of the film that were very political as far as the ambitions of the Cardinals, but I would guess that some of that does indeed happen. These are men after all who have worked very hard to rise within the church hierarchy.

It was interesting to me that they chose to focus on the Cardinals failings in relationship to Chastity and Simony. But no mention of the issues with sexual abuse that have been at the forefront of the church recently. I suppose the filmmakers thought that it would be better to focus on other issues. It was also interesting to me that they focused on power in the church today in relationship to how the church has changed over time. For hundreds of years, the pope was always Italian. There may never be an Italian again. Pope Francis is Italian by Heritage, but was raised and identifies as an Argentinian. The places in the world where the church is actively growing are in Asia and Africa, not in Europe or North America, so an African or Asian pope will likely occur in the not too distant future. Some Catholics today seem to agree with the views of the characters of Adeyemi and Tedesco, that openness to LGBT people and dialogue between Catholics and non-Catholics/non-Christians are issues.

There were some issues of Canon law that were inaccurate, but it is a movie. I wasn’t exactly sure what was going on with Benitez as the movie went on, but knew he would win the election and that something would come out.

The issues that the film focused on that have to do with men and women in the clergy I thought were interesting. One of the things that my friends and I observed was that the women, the nuns, seemed to be the ones doing most of the actual work. The role of women in the church has changed significantly, particularly over the last 50 years. Whether that results in future changes, we will have to see.

I hope this explanation didn’t go on too long, but I thought you might be interested in the views of a Catholic who has discussed the film with her Catholic friends.

I haven’t either, but I think I will need to see it. I really enjoyed Inside Out 2. I thought the writers and director really understood the challenges facing adolescent girls today.

Apparently, a beautiful, big, shiny dress wasn't the only thing Zendaya was wearing last night. She was also sporting a big, shiny engagement ring from her Spiderman co-star Tom Holland.

They got engaged over the holidays. Tom had asked her father for his permission & blessing to marry his daughter months ago.

According to People .com, "As for tying the knot, the couple plans to take their time. 'They will just enjoy things for now and won't rush a wedding,' the source added. 'They are both busy with work projects.'"

My stomach churned when I read about that. The situation makes me shudder and wonder how that's gone on all around the world for probably over a year at least and no one is discussing it's highly likely abuse going on in full view of everyone and yet, crickets. It seems her own family doesn't see a problem.

Epstein, Weinstein, R. Kelley, P. Diddy, Cosby --- Wealth, fame, power have now graduated to no need for a private island -- or even closing the door. If Kanye decides to take her out tomorrow with a collar and leash the only judgment will be on her.

I usually don't start a Grammys thread as I'm too old to know who most of the musicians are now. I'd just be saying things like, "Oh, look at that woman in the low cut red dress. I like that one."

I had to Google too. I had to do a search for "bianca grammys 2025 unblurred" to see what is normally pixelated out. WOW! Kanye has paraded Bianca around before pretty much nude or wearing a nude looking body suit. This was over the top.

I apologize for posting, I did not realize he was abusive. I had seen many images of her both before and after they were a couple and thought she liked to dress like this. This is extreme, but there are other images where she is almost that naked.

I don't know if she's being abused either. Wasn't she a model before she met Kanye? And basically, (according to TMZ,) he's doing the same stuff he did with Kim Kardashian. He helped her publicize herself by dressing her, (or lack of dress) for much of her career when they first got together. Kim likes being mostly nude.

While I DO think Kanye is bi-polar or schizophrenic or something, (Kim and others have said as much, saying he has a mental illness,) I think Bianca knew what she signed up for when she got together with Kanye. She just had to look at Kim.
