The "No Food For You" Waiting on PINS & Needles Room Only Discount Club -Come Join Us

So here's my new theory...

I'm hoping that many the people who booked for the week of October 17th (or similar dates) hoping for/expecting FD are switching their plans and arriving the 26th instead, which will empty things up a bit for those of us who are still going the week of the 17th.

I notice the availability at CSR for our dates is now wide open, when several of the categories had been full just a few weeks ago. Last time I checked, only standard and king preferred were available (prior to the FD dates being leaked), now everything is available except for the suites. When I checked online this morning for dates starting the 26th (start of FD), the only open categories were king & preferred king, even standard is full!

My hope is that a shift in bookings will (1) make things a bit less crowded than it was the same week last year, and (2) with the big "loss" (shift) of bookings for the week of the 17th (and similar dates that people expected to be FD this year), there will be some great RO discounts to fill those empty rooms. ;)

Am I just nuts, or could this theory actually work?? :confused3 Here's hoping for the rest of us going in the dead zone... pixiedust:

I like the way you think. ;)

Just put those dates in and get lots of options. The website hasn't worked for everyone. I'd try calling if you can.

I'm going to call later when the rush has died down. We are going those dates either way but was hoping for an Epcot resort.

Just got off the phone after an hour and got the room only discount for the BWI standard CL 9/23-9/30. I saved about $250 over the MM package that we had. I wasn't planning on using the MM and had booked it for the room discount. We will be using DDP but when I checked on the free dining plan that would actually increase my cost over the MM by $430. If I figured right I saved about another 5%. I guess every little bit helps!

Hi All - like many of you we booked 6 rooms at Beach Club Oct. 18-24 and expected FD. Wonder why they've extended the blackout period to 3 weeks this year after only 2 weeks in previous...economic recovery?

Anyways, with no PIN on our file we're now betting our chips on seeing an extension to that Oct. 3 RO discount.

Let's all try not to go crazy while we wait together!

I'm beyond crazy and finally surrendered this morning. I was hoping for RO or FD to justify an upgrade (for the 1st time) to a Moderate for our Oct 17-23 trip, but no such luck (no pin, either). If I'm paying rack rate plus all of our food OOP for the trip, I'm not caving and spending more money than I have to.

If Disney threw me a bone and gave me a deal, I'd be more willing to spend more. Time to cancel all the TS ressies, unsubscribe from the CSR & food threads and accept we will be spending the week at Pop, eating at F&W and CS. Not that it's a bad thing, I was just hoping to try something new this year.

I am holding out hope for an early Dec. RO discount, too. My preferred dates aren't included in the current FD offer (Dec. 3-7), so I've gone ahead and booked a Dec. 17-21 room w/FD. I would much prefer the earlier December dates, though - I'm worried about the crowds during my Dec. 17-21 dates, especially because we'll be traveling with a toddler and an infant. Long lines and babies don't mix...

Add me to the list. In 2010 and 2012 we were able to go down the day after Thanksgiving and get the free dining, while staying at POR-AB.

The double whammy for our family of 5, not only are our dates excluded, but unless you get the elusive pin code (I called last week, don't have one) POR is also excluded:mad: No idea why they'd pick on a family of 5.

Not really sure what is going to happen. Maybe we'll get lucky and a RO discount will be released, or for the first time in several trips we will be driven off property, or frankly, we may just choose not to go, a sad but serious option.

We booked at Wilderness for 10/18/14 to 10/25/14 purposefully to hit FD since historically it has been offered that week. I literally almost cried when I saw the dates of this year's free dining offer :( Then, my hopes were raised once more that there was a pincode for FD that had greater October dates. No pin code for me. So, now I am crossing my fingers that SOME kind of discount comes out. Paying full freight just doesn't seem right!!!

I just wish I could get through to Disney to even see if I had a RO pin attached to my name! :headache: I have called 3 times and gave up after being on hold ages. I have accepted that if there isn't one then I am going to cancel the room and park tickets and go through UT and use my Dolphin reservation. I would keep my YC reservation if I got 30% pin for my GV room but that is seeming more like a pipe dream :sad1:

I'll try again today :sad2:

Wow, I called last Friday and spent more time answering questions in the pre-call then I did waiting for and actual CM. I waited less than 5 minutes. Unfortunately no pin code though.

same dates here, although we are at POP Century. It's my wedding anniversary week and past history included FD. Hoping for discount now.

When are you guys looking to go? It's really disappointing that they've excluded POR. I hope you're able to get a pin / discount and still make your trip.

I gave up. No FD rooms available for my dates in my budget. And judging by how fast rooms are booking, I'm afraid to wait until July or August to book. I broke down and posted on *********** and luckily found a VGF studio for $30 more per night than CSR. SO I guess all's well that ends well. Good luck everyone:)
