Me - worrier, florida lover, credit card spender and a big kid!
DH - credit card payer, non-worrier, level head!
DS - 14yrs old, teenager with attitude! loves sport!
Thurs 15 June High of 90
We were up today around 7am to be ready for shuttle pick up at 8am. We were picked up and taken to the meeting point for the bus. Once again Ed was our driver, there were 2 couples and ourselves and we were on our way to Daytona.
When we arrived we went for a smoothie (yum!) and then walked up Daytona Beach. So far up the beach we came off and looked in a few gift shops so DS could buy something for his friends. He found some licence plate key rings and bought them.
We then went to a place called Daytona Lagoon. It had a water park, mini golf, go karts and indoor play area. Originally we had agreed we would go on the go karts and mini golf but England were just about to kick off so we went into the sports bar they had there called Gilligans. DS decided he would have his lunch here so he got some spicy wings, I had fries and DH said he would get something at Burger King just before we got picked up. We watched the first half of the game and then DH had lunch before being picked up and on to the speedway.
We arrived just after 2 and went straight for the speedway tour. Once on the tour and down to the trackside, we went to see about DS doing the ride in experience. DS was able to do this straightaway so we paid up, filled in a consent form and he went to get kitted up! He had to wear a boiler suit type of racing suit and a cloth head cover and crash helmet. Then he was kitted up with a protector for his shoulders and neck and he got in the car. He was buckled up, had a quick chat with the driver and then he was off for his 3 laps! These were fast for us to watch and they definitely felt faster for DS! The car pulled back up and after a quick photo DS got out, he was on a high! He got his suit off and then we went to collect his photo (more money!) he got his photo on a plaque for $35. Then it was back to the main building in time for the Imax movie.

Typical for us, the 3D version of the movie was not working so we had to make do with 2D. This movie was excellent! I would imagine if you were watching it in 3D you would feel as though you were in the movie!! This lasted about an hour and we more or less headed back to the bus after this. Arrived back at the hotel about 6:45 and seen as it was our last night I was going to pack and then wed go out for tea but the packing took longer than expected (wonder why!) so it was takeaway pizza and the 4th game of NBA finals.
